carroll is out again. how many times have we said that over the last three seasons? back when allardyce was in charge it was same old story. carroll plays a few games gets crocked for months, comes back and needs time to get back into it…finally does and then is crocked again. its not carroll's fault. however the board have had three years now to sort this out. we needed a plan b when carroll was out. you can't say its Bilic's fault as this goes back before he was here. this board can't buy good strikers. beef wellington, Ilan, calleri, zaza…whats wrong with them….why can't they get someone good and reliable ? if they want to deal with the transfers then they should have had this sorted long ago. a prem league side that relies on carroll week in week out. its not good enough. i demand action.

When we bought unknowns from the lower divisions or lesser teams and made them our own stars. Billy Jennings, Alan Taylor, Matty Ward, "Pop" Robson, MacAvennie etc. etc. God, the modern generation of West Ham fans are as plastic as Chelskis with their unbelievable wish lists

Not that long ago some of our fans wanted Jordan Rhodes Huddersfield wanted £8m board said no and at least they dodged a bullet with that one. Let's be honest the big boys will always be first or preferred choice for top strikers. We would need a couple of consistent top 4 finishes to attract them but we need to attract them to get a top four finish ! Very much a catch 22 situation our best hope is unleashing a diamond, and in modern terms a 15+ goals a season player.

is a finisher a guy who knows how to put the ball in the net and is used to doing it and does not freeze when the chance comes....you find players at all levels who just have the knack of putting the ball in the net give them a chance and bang its a goal....just look at soccer Saturday and you see the names coming up on a regular basis scoring week in week out the only problem you have is will they be able to do it at the highest level? well as in my reply to dicksy below this guy Assombalonga can and would do it but you need to convince the manager...bilic was not interested in Antonio but he was got in the rest is history...guys from south America and lower leagues of European footy are chased so is it not to much to ask the board/manager to take a look down the league and take what maybe not such a big gamble.

If you you look through the leagues there are plenty who can finish but it is more a case of making sure they fit in and you supply the right kind of ball, we have had plenty of movement in and around the box on occasion yet that initial shot is way off target. Much needed practice is needed in that department. We may already have the very person who knows Fletcher could be the answer but he needs games.

and it is only my opinion but this guy has it all he can move like sackho he is as strong as carroll and he knows how to score....he came back from a bad knee injury at start of season and has not looked back...well worth the gamble but its not up to us I just hope we don't live to regret it when a team who are at the same level as us take the plunge on the player..if anyone twitters please bend mr golds ear a bit please

How many goals has assombalonga got this season mcbikeman ? Last time I looked he was injured. Admittedly a few months ago. And how many games has he missed this season? Honest question because I like him.

14 goals in 33 appearances in a poor side and after injury a very good return

I totally appreciate your frustration. In defence of the Porn Dwarfs I genuinely think they try there best to get the quality strikers we crave. i think we sit in a very difficult positions in attracting the high end as we are not top four hence no Champions League and not top 7 to qualify for Europa League. We are always on the radar of over rated or paid ageing strikers or unproven youngsters in UK with inflated ambition and pay demands!

Those consecutive losses to Bournemouth, Leicester and Hull cost us points. Had we won all three (and we should have, if we had played like we played the last 3 matches), we'd be on 51 points and cemented in the top ten. Even given how dismal the first half of the season was, we'd be finishing near where we were last season. So I think more than anything that 3-match blip cost us points. What were the main problems? One was playing Randolph instead of Adrian. Another was tactics. I don't want to lay all of this at Slav's door, because he had a helluva difficult ride with Payet sulking in the first half of the season, and there were rumbles of player dissatisfaction over that whole period of the three matches in question. But I just want to say there's many ways to cut this pie -- on some the board cost us points, on others Slav, on others the players.
