Hammers To Swap Ayew For Mawson Good Bit Of Business

As the media hunker down in anticipation of the January transfer window opening we can confirm one 'snippet' that is 'from the horses mouth', namely that Hammers are trying to do a 'Good Bit Of Business' by arranging a swap deal with Swansea City involving returning Andre Ayew who they had previously purchased for £20 Million and getting £25 Million rated centre back Alfie Mawson in exchange.

This arrangement would enable Ayew to link up with his younger brother Jordan while providing hot prospect 23 year old Mawson the opportunity to be more in the public eye ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup finals in Russia. David Moyes has already shown that he can be ruthless when it comes to player selection and has identified two glaringly obvious deficiencies in the current West Ham squad, namely the entire right side from defence to attack and more crucially the lack of a midfield enforcer and a mobile centre back.

Having conceded 38 goals already this season in the Barclays Premier League the need to tighten up the defence is paramount, up front goals aren't really a problem with 'Elbows' Arnoutovic leading the line, the problem is scoring two or three goals in a match is pointless if you throw it away at the other end, something Hammers have been guilty of particularly in the closing stages of matches.

West Ham had their initial £18 Million offer rebuffed by fellow relegation strugglers Swansea who had been holding out for their valuation of £25 Million which West Ham were unwilling to pay, however it appears that a swap deal could be beneficial to all parties involved. Swansea have experienced an absolute goal drought despite having Wilfred Bony and Tammy Abrahams up front, the club never replaced Siguersson and perhaps Ayew could provide the ammunition for the forward pair to help find the back of the net.

Ayew would be a big fish in a small pond if he returned to Swansea City and would probably have an instant impact, similarly Mawson would have an instant effect at The London Stadium due to the fact that he would be able to 'walk' into the current Hammers team given it's current defensive frailties. est Ham United co-owners have realised the mistake of buying ageing players with little or no sell on value, also untried foreign players, so buying young and british is their current mantra, however if Willy Carvalho becomes available it is not inconceivable that a deal could be done to bring 'the enforcer who never was' to the West Ham fold from Sporting Lisbon despite this summer's 'Dildo Gate' incident.

Alan Pardew's West Brom are up next in what really will be a crucial 'six pointer', victory could propel Hammers to the heady heights of thirteenth, defeat or a draw will leave the club dangerously in the drop zone ahead of the away fixture two days later against Tottenham at their temporary home, not forgetting the FA Cup fixture away to Shrewsbury Town three days after that! - Ed

Its a bit of a gamble... never should of paid £25 mil for Ayew in the first place, but to write off that sum in exchange of a youngster who sounds promising is a bit of a risk. I have never heard of this kid before so hoping someone can enlighten me as to his ability but whilst we have promising youngsters of our own who sit on the bench most matches are we just gonna end up with another to warm the bench and lose the whole of that £25 mil without much to show for it?

Yes, I put in the sub forum that we were going to get him a week or so ago. Good business with Ayew going the other way. Lets hope the appoint of Carvahal as Swans boss doesn't scupper it...

I am on hand to herald in the day and to announce its exit.

To be fair, Ayew was instrumental in beating Tottenham in the League Cup as he worked pretty hard that game. He was also good against Palace in the first half, and scored against Newcastle to give West Ham some hope after missing that penalty. We should have dedicated penalty takers, as Lanzini missed one as well. Noble is the only consistent one. But Ayew is our top goal scorer, so besides Arnatouvic, who else can consistently get those goals. Are we going to buy a striker as Sakho is also set to leave for China, if those rumours are true.

Now, it looks like Moyes has approved the sale of Oxford to Liepzig. Why not bring him back and start him in defence as our defence is in tatters against the lower ranked clubs, while being rock solid against the big guns. The reason is pace. Bring on the younger players especially in midfield against the lower ranked clubs that have very agile and versatile players, and yes the likes of Obiang, Noble and Kouyate are suited against the less agile and more experienced players from clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal. How can Bilic and Moyes not fathom something as basic as that?? The fact is clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle have scored from counterattacks, because our players were too damn slow to head back from set pieces in the opposing team boxes. Prior to new players being signed, they should get them on the track of the London Stadium and see how fast they can do the 100 metres as well as the 400 metres. Then and only then if they have the pace, then sign them. We have the slowest set of players in the Premier Division. A Fact.

Maybe the OS is good for something after all!

In all seriousness, though -- the EPL should have sth like the "combine" that the NFL has, where all the stats of players can be measured.

Westham are recalling oxford amid interest from leipzig & borussia wanting to make it a permanent deal...he must be pretty good so why not blood him into the first team like Rice!!

theres no way this swap will go ahead. Fred has spoken to ALL Swansea fans and says they were delighted when Ayew left and theres no way they would take him back. the fact he 'only' scored 12 goals for them in a season is considered an insult.
