Dimitri Payet's dramatic last minute super strike that finally sunk Accrington Stanley has earned the club a home tie against Chelsea in the next round of the EFL cup. As expected the visitors treated the match as if it was the EFL final itself and gave Slaven Billic more than a headache or two to deal with, in the end he had to bring on his big guns to ensure a hard fought victory. Things were looking decidedly bleak with extra time beckoning and Hammers down to ten men after Authur Masuaku was forced off the pitch through injury with all the substitutes having already been used. The Accrington goal resembled the Alamo in the final 15 minutes of the match, Antonio, Lanzini, Zaza and Ogbonna all came close to scoring as stamina became an issue for the lower league club, which was just as well for the home side because the visitors came close to creating an upset on numerous occasions earlier on, but cometh the hour and cometh the man. The last minute, a free kick awarded, the crowd await with baited breath, up steps the man....Bang! Accrington hearts broken, cue wild delirium in the London Stadium and a thunderous rendition of "we've got Payet'! Followed by a rousing rendition of Bubbles. A win is a win is a win! - Ed pass the aspirin!
NB: The EFL ties will be held from October the 24th onwards, with exact dates to be announced once the broadcasters choose their 'marquee' matches, which means you can guarantee West Ham v Chelsea will be one of the matches to be shown live.

after 90 minutes (or thereabouts) of Zaza not being able to score against Acrington Stanley, we get Chelsea in our next match. Only hope is that we catch them at a point where their attention is necessarily on bigger things.

But he earns more in a month than our whole squad earns in a season. Quote from there manager. dont say much for our guys. Did not see the game but I hear we have another down. How long do you think he will run with Zaza?

Well we had better get the stadium in order for this game or it'll be back to the 70's mentality I fear. No Police is an accident waiting to happen......

Billic has given Za Za and Calleri their chances, to me the game seemed to physical for ZAzA, the English game dont suit him its to physical and the price Juventus want does not suit West ham either should be ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZa ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZa he looked half asleep in the first half and his first touch was awful. Time to give Ashley Fletcher a chance and with a bit of luck Andy Carrol should be back for 2or3 weeks before he gets injured again. Still Sakho is supposed to be back with Cresswell so we might be able to give Chelski a little more opposition than our opening game of the season and home under the lights should be another plus, think the the 2 Davids should start getting these radios sorted because I think they will need a Police presence in the ground for this tie
