International Break = Slow News And Ridiculous Rumours

Apart from the Mark Noble for England debate, turbo charged by BT Sport and other TV shows, there has been little of substance to report. The increase in capacity at the Olympic Stadium had been on the horizon almost as soon as Slaven Billic took over, his first steps on the pitch for the Europa League match against Lusitans seem a long long time ago, West Ham's subsequent success has ensured a vast over subscription for season tickets. The signing of Lanzini and the contract improvement for others is obviously very welcome for fans who had been used to, with the odd exception, bargain basement players. All events covered extensively in the media, but then the Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Benteke rumours cart to circulate, again! Sometimes it is hard to decipher whether a Brentwood Gazette 'leader' is a plant to be taken on by the Daily Mail, or if the Daily Mail is a plant to be taken on by the Brentwood Gazette!
Suffice to say these stories are there to fill up column inches, as is this article….Hammers have done incredibly well this season, they have exceeded all expectations and proved the doom merchants wrong, but the success will need to be consolidated wisely rather than the club 'doing a Leeds United', something that is highly unlikely given the co-owners propensity for sniffing out a bargain.
So Zlatan, go and milk Man Utd for £250K per week, west ham will only have to play against you two or three times a season, Slaven Billic will take that amount and build West Ham to another level, prudently but without a Jonny big balls attitude. - Ed

I can't tell you who will be signed next season, but if you look at the recent transfer activity by Us there is no way ibrahimovic will sign for West Ham. Not because he doesn't want to, it's because we don't want him. Long gone are the days of buying people his age and wage for one season I'll put my mortgage on it! Carrack possibly if his wage isn't big and he could help if we get Europe as a squad player.

I agree with the jist of this thread ,we have a tight knitted squad now days and the last thing we need is a journey man at the end of the line and on loto figure wages ,anyway our three strikers are doing ok ,each one of them offers something different to the team in their individual style ,imy opinion the way things are going we're going to need a waiting list for the players wanting in

One of the wonderful things this season, and you have to go back a season and give Allardyce (Or Sullivan) some credit too, is that we have finally started to fill the different positions of need with quality players. We are starting to look strong at every position now, with some depth as well. Still need depth at both RB and LB, and even though we have some decent strikers we could use that one 20 goal striker to keep things ticking over. But we also have a couple of VERY good players developing in Oxford and Samuelsen. We don't need Ibrahimovic and we certainly don't need Benteke. We can afford to be choosy, and perhaps to give someone a platform in the premier league who really will be the NEXT big thing. Happy times!
