Buoyant from a much needed away win against 'serial offenders' Everton, under fire Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini was forced to divert from his attacking concept post match eulogy in order to 'deal' with the 'Sky rumoured' spat that he was supposed to have had with Lucas Perez. The Spanish striker, who started the game on the bench had looked like he was going to replace the injured Marko Arnautovic, but Pellegrini chose Michail Antonio instead, 30 year old Perez said that it was "quicker" for Antonio to play as he was ready and that it was totally "false information" that he had thrown a 'hissy fit' and the implication that he refused to play in West Ham's 3-1 win at Everton on Sunday was completely misleading.

"I have never ever refused to warm up in my whole career, let alone play a match," he tweeted. Perez continued that West Ham's substitutes take it in turns to do warm-up routines of three to five minutes during a game, and that he had not been warming up when Arnautovic got injured."In the moment Marko got injured, I was on the bench after warming up," he added. "The coach called me to go out and play however, having realised that it was faster to substitute Antonio who at that moment was warming up, he changed his decision."

Perez was pictured talking to his club's goalkeeping coach moments after Antonio entered the game in the 64th minute, and the discussion looked more than a little heated. The striker said: "The images that have been misinterpreted correspond to a talk with the goalkeeper's coach, in which I never refused to warm up and explained what happened." This 'storm in a teacup' clearly illustrates how absolutely under the microscope Hammers are, whether it is the London Stadium shennanigans or a relentless media driven desire to see the club fail miserably, there definitely appears to be an agenda, it is not paranoia, honestly not!

Pellegrini said after the game that he did not use Perez because "Antonio was already ready, so he played", the two goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and an Arnautovic strike certainly knocked the stuffing out of the home team, who despite clawing a goal back through £45 Million signing from Swansea Gylfi Sigurdsson, rarely looked as if they were going to win the game.

So it proved, in the second half when most fans expected Everton to launch relentless raids, very little happened and Marko Arnoutovic, abley assisted by Pedro Obiang tucked home Hammers third to rub salt in to the Toffees wounds. Pellegrini stuck to his guns and got the result he always knew would happen, the question is now how much will the awful start, prior to Sunday's excellent result, impact on the aspirations of the club's season, the manager has a game plan, it is up to the players to execute that plan. - Ed
