Premier League's Emperor's New Clothes

With their heads firmly buried in the sand, Premier League clubs are due to meet again on the 3rd of April to discuss what arrangements can be made in order to 'close out' this year's season, it is almost certain the current postponement of all games until the 30th of April will be extended again which will take it past the official end of the EFL league season and towards the last round of Premier League fixtures, which was supposed to be on the 17th of May.

The mooted dates are very close to the point where the game has to restart if it is to meet the loose 30th of June deadline European football's governing body is working towards as the end of the 2019-20 campaign. Either the powers that be are in complete denial, or they have not taken on board the most basic of information with regards to containing the Corona Virus19 that has shut down sport globally.

In fact the football authorities at both domestic and international level seem to be completely oblivious as to the far reaching implications of this Global pandemic, much as in the old Hans Christian Andersen story about the emperor's new clothes, they cannot see the folly of their indulgences such are their conceited opinions driven by greed.

Of course declaring the season null and void would be extremely beneficial for a West Ham team that is only out of the bottom three positions on goal difference, but that is the way it is, no one realistically believes the season can be completed, EVEN behind closed doors, although this myth is being perpetrated by stake holders and broadcasters alike.

These are unprecedented times, sport, particularly football, is the Nation's panacea, it gives us the 'hit' for the weekend and/or midweek and as such is irreplaceable, but given the circumstances it is perhaps better to batten down the hatches and wait for this dreadful 'plague' to dissipate, then and only then should football be back on the agenda.

The Barclays Premier League, Sky Sports and BT Sport along with other broadcasters and involved parties World Wide are going to take a massive financial hit, but hasn't that happened to everyone else in the 'real world'?

Its all we hear in football is about the likes of sky,bt and the like being hit in the pocket, chairman of clubs suffering still having to pay overheads, players may have to take pay cuts,i read 6k a week i think was just for championship, but oh dear, all these massive companies with turnover of billions,i wouldnt mind 6k a week,if the likes of the premier or chamionshilp players didnt kick a ball again, they have enough to retire.I know it isnt any chairmans fault of clubs or companies that this virus has happened, and i certainly dont want anyone to suffer, and my heart goes out to those that have lost loved ones, but my point is we hear about how hard done by are those with all the cash are losing out,but nothing gets said about the season ticket holders that have paid out to see games, the working man who when this all blows over, still has to go and graft, these clubs and chairman are all take, the likes of Sugo Brady, and other chairman are not needing the clubs they buy for income, they purchase clubs as they have excessive cash, big game to them,so lets hear of reimbersment for the hard working fans that keep the clubs afloat.,because whatever happens if games go ahead there wont be any fans in sight

Paul Ince Says the premier league has to go on! Wake up you idiot.Players are human they can catch this damn virus and can pass it on to family members and what of the people even if played behind closed doors who have to attend the matches what about there families....Hard as it may be for ex players pundits etc to understand is that Football is not important and so what if the seasons scrapped and multi millionaire players have to take a pay cut boo hoo i find peoples lives more important than either of those things.

and it may be hard on our poor over worked players but finish the season by playing Mondays Wednesday and Saturday until all games are completed be it during the day or at night and behind closed doors but only when both teams and officials have all been tested and are cleared of the virus and if some of the best players are still in isolation then they will have to miss those games they would any way if they were injured !!!!then give the season ticket holders half price tickets for next season .........
