Why On Earth Are Bid Sam's Sycophants So Deluded?

To read some of the comments trawled out about Sam Allardyce by his sycophantic pals in the media ahead of his Sunderland team's visit to the Boleyn Ground for this Saturday's early 12;45 kick off, one could be forgiven if one thought that Big Sam was a saviour who rode in and rescued a "club that was on it's knees" single handedly! There is no mention of the massive salary he received or the fact that he was backed financially by the board on numerous occasions for several dubious purchases. Allardyce did bring Adrian to the club and a few others, he did get the club promoted at the first attempt albeit by the skin of it's teeth, and kept the club up in the promised land that is the Barclays Premier League, but he never took to the fans and the fans never took to him, the words 'super sam allardyce' never rang out at the Boleyn nor any where else come to think about. The fact is Big Sam did what he was paid to do, end of, he isn't owed any great respect although the Boleyn faithful will know it is always better to let sleeping dogs lie when it comes to returning players/managers in order not to give them any extra motivation to get a result! Allardyce should be treated just like any other visiting manager no better and no worse. The press will be out in force and would dearly love to portray West Ham fans as deluded, whereas it is they who clearly are. The sad thing is, there are so many of them, about as many as you can get around a large swimming pool in a gratis Algarve holiday home! - Ed

Sam did a very good job for us. He got us up and kept us up. Look at the Premier League now Villa at the bottom who are a similar sized club to us.We were something of a yo yo club but now we are an established top half team. Those signings include Kouyate, Sakho, Valencia and Carroll who are all top players. We have now moved on to the next level but we couldn't have done that without the stability that Sam brought to the club.Yes the football wasn't great but each season we got to 40 points and safety and that is what you get with Sam. He was the right man at the time and now we are a much better club with bigger players moving on to bigger and better things.

Talking about getting promoted back to the top flight
“It was a pretty big task but we made it and looking back, it was one of the biggest achievements of my career. I didn’t realise how difficult it was going to be — but we did it!” he explained to the London Evening Standard.

“It wasn’t the way we would have chosen it but in the end, we went up via the play-offs —and if you win, there is no better way to win promotion. The memories of that day at Wembley are ever-lasting, the noise, the joy on all the faces — it’s something I will never forget.”

He did a job. He was paid very well to do that job and the FACT is he was lucky to get us back up when it should have been a lot easier with the budget he was given and his apparent experience. We went through a spell of 7 draws in the Championship against crap/mediocre Teams and he took too long to make changes, and some of those games were painful to watch. The style of football wasn't good to watch in a large number of games during his tenure and he couldn't bond/gel with the fans, due to his arrogance/ignorance. He would never have taken to us to anything but mid/lower table by the end of any season in my opinion. He employed a few decent players but then he also brought a lot of poor players, namely in the attacking third of the pitch. He tried to take credit at one point for Sakho's signing, yet he had nothing to do with it and had tried to send him back to France and his club threatened to sue our club. I also read somewhere that he tried to take credit for Payet signing for West Ham? So in the build up to tomorrows game our new manager and others at the club have shown class in suggesting that we should show him some respect for what he did, but what does he do in response? He slates us fans again and show the ignorant, arrogant and delusional person that he really is! I can't stand the man but thanks for giving us a day at Wembley, even if we should have got back up clinically rather than through a lottery, but pipe down and show us a bit of respect for paying your huge wages even though you made it harder than it should have been xxx

You can talk about his arrogance and being deluded, self promotion etc but I don't think he is ignorant. He could have got an easier ride if he had just respected the fans and club even if he wanted to play his way. Nevs post about his recent comments about his day at Wembley are the best I've ever heard come from his mouth. He is an experienced manager so what makes him think he can show a total disrespect for ANY club or fans during his tenure and get respect back?
