The recent turn around in Hammers' fortunes has been little short of spectacular, there is a definite feel good factor about the club despite a near catostrophic injury list that just seems to keep on growing. Unfortunately one of those on the long term list is Jack Wilshere, hindsight is a wonderful thing and with the benefit of hindsight signing Jack Wilshere on a three year deal on £100,000 per week wasn't the wisest of choices.

Out of the ten new arrivals at the club since Manuel Pellegrini became manager after the departure of David Moyes, no fewer than five of them have been injured, at least three of them long term. Sanchez and Yarmolenko are out for the rest of the season, whereas Fredericks and particularly Perez will be back in the fold relatively shortly. Out of all those who were signed who became injured Wilshere was the most obvious risk, Mario Husillos and Manuel Pellegrini oversaw a comprehensive revamp of the squad, well backed by the previously stingey Hammers hierarchy.

The injuries that have occured have been unfortunate, almost freakish, and it would be churlish to criticise Hammers bold recuitment policy, but it has to be said that both Yarmolenko and Wilshere had well documented injury records that made them virtually uninsurable, particularly in Wilshere's case. Of course there is always a risk of players getting injured, but it is to be hoped that the next 'wave' of new recruits will be more Andy Cole than Andy Carroll.

Out of all Hammers' recent signings Jack Wilshere will prove to be an expensive mistake and as such represents the only real failure in Huse and Pel's recruitment, quite how expensive is in the lap of the Gods and the not inconsiderable skills of the Hammers medical team, but you can't win them all! - Ed

There's got to be someone who has the final say ,I mean they must have known he was injury prone , whether it's the medical team ,the management team or the owners that holds responsibility for this signing ,Carroll's another one ,Jesus ,that's 200 grand a week for nothing and that's only 2,
