Curbishleys Cull Begins At West Ham

The Boleyn is likely to resemble a revolving door as new players arrive, but not before the sort of clear out that would have seemed like a fire sale in the bad old 'Brown' days. It is understood that Sir Ted has already gone and will probably sign for Palace where his son Charlie plays, and that 10 Gram Newton and Ty Mears will both be making their respective loans to Leicester and Derby permanent. Speaking to the recent fans forum Scott Duxberry said that there will be more goings than comings initially, but that there is no reason to panic. Matty Etherington, Paul Konchesky and Roy Carroll will all be moving on sooner rather than later and Nigel Reo-Coker also seems destined to leave. The club will do their upmost to keep Carlos Tevez as well as looking to add "three or four world class players"... Hayden Mullins is wanted by Alan Pardew at Charlton and Christain Dailly by Dundee, even ex-hammer of the year Danny Gabbidon's situation is being reviewed as is that of Callum Davenport although both want to stay. Obviously there is hardly a queue for Paintsil and Quashie but hope springs eternal!... Quite some clear out then, and judging by the various noises emerging from the Boleyn the policy will be to replace quantity with quality. Times are changing at West Ham, and not just around Green Street, with the club looking to move to a new 60,000 capacity stadium there is a real possibility that the Claret and Blue will become an even more global presence, after all, you should see the amount of replica Hammers shirts being worn around Australia since Lucas Neill joined the club! - Ed

id love to see sheffield wednesday back in the premiership, i think they would love us for relegating their rivals with tevez the supposed illegal player. would be great banter between both fans about the blades going down. besides they are a big club, and il always remember that 4-3 classic back in 1999. what a game that was!!!

‘replica’ shirts Nev :) ...clearly a quest for some response subtly disguised as the friendliest of jibes; we’re well and hope you are too. Yes, one interesting thing about our trading links with Asia (something we’ve developed since our main trading partner swapped beds and went off with the EC), is that one line readily available is, in fact, replica shirts. They sell for about 8 quid instead of goodness knows what we have to pay for genuine ones - if you can find them. Now, some folks who’ve heard Oz referred to as the ‘land of plenty’ might wonder where all our money is, but ‘plenty’ more refers to our depth of culture, average IQ and cricket trophies for which we keep having to find more room. For those of us who see a replica shirt in claret and blue and simply can’t resist, it’s a straight case of ‘better a replica than no replica’ and, as you allude to, it’s much better to see an irons replica than someone else’s. Also Nev, we missed you doing laps round OT just recently...was it that they couldn’t show it on tele or just that you’re still busy polishing them up for the opening day of next season? Have a nice day now ;)

So what positions do we identify as being prime for development? This time last year I honestly believed the only new players we were desperate for were a top quality right back to replace lionel scaloni, and a top quality right winger somebody like lennon at spuds or wright-philips at chelsea. we didn't get a decent right back until a fit lucas neil started playing for us in the tottenham game. On the subject of lucas neil by the way I would be interested to see a poll for who should be captain next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see lucas neil at the top of it. He's the kind of player who makes all the right noises both on and off the pitch and i've been impressed with the way he conducts himself in general - Like the gentleman footballers, the football generals of old, the trevor brookings' , billy bonds' and bobby moores' of this world. Anyway, I digress... which positions? Left back and right midfield for me. Nobel and Yossi in the middle... we still need the top quality right winger I spoke of earlier... and on the left do we stick with boa morte/etherington? there are many teams would be glad of either of those two, but do we ned to be looking at world-class players now if we are to move on?

Please lads, stop quoting the tabloids. Every day I come onto this website hoping to hear some good news regarding our great club and more than not I have been shocked by some bad posts saying things like, "Tevez's is leaving" etc, only to find out that the information was supplied by The Sun or the likes. Please lads, stop reading this sh*t, or if you must read it, stop quoting these idiots. If you want a good example of how much they don't know about what's going on at West Ham just look at the Yossi situation. Yesterday they were quoting his agent as saying Yossi isn't sure about if a deal would get done with West Ham and his future was uncertain, even saying they were looking at other clubs". When in actuality the management of West Ham had approached him soon after the final game and said how much they wanted to keep him. In turn Yossi said he was never considering leaving the club and the deal was done. We are talking days to broker this deal with no question of anything going wrong, yet the Sun still tried to push some negativity towards our club. I actually think the negative press we have received might help us going forward though. I think we could get a them against us mentality out of it and it may galvanize the team. Anyway, please lads, stop quoting the rags unless of course they are saying we are going to sign Ronaldhinio, then I will believe them.

Happy days yossi signing has cheered me up after all the crying I've been doing listening to the micky mousers and how once more they have been hard done by and its never their fault. Off to book me flight to Reading now to try and get a skeg at one of these Internationals we are going to sign this year. Up the Hammers.

Wigan have just announced next seasons ticket prices - £270, sit where you like, 33% less than last season. They're hoping for at least another 20/30 fans to sign up, which they could do easily if they chucked in a pie at each match.
Submitted by Anonymous on 25 May, 2007 - 17:42.
I was expecting worse to be honest. Most prices haven't gone up too much. I think the cheapest seats, in the BML, have only increased by about ten quid from last season. 695 quid now, I'm okay with that as I heard rumours it was gonna increase a lot more than that.

Submitted by WestHamTiliDie on 25 May, 2007 - 16:44.
He has great promise but still very young, an attacking mid-fielder in the same vain (I think) as Stevie G, he is already making an impression on the young England set-up. Colchester fans have seen quite a bit of him and he has done well for them this season just gone. He really wants to impress Curbs and get into the first team, but a long way for him to go yet Hogan Ephraim (born March 31, 1988 in Archway, London). He plays for Colchester United on loan from West Ham United, an Academy graduate that has recently begun to break through to the first team. He scored 4 goals in an England under 17's match against Russia. He made one substitute appearance for the Hammers first team during the 2005-06 season, in the League Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday on 20 September 2005. He is considered one of West Ham United's biggest prospects for the future. He currently lives in Highbury, North London. On November 23 2006 he signed on a months loan for English Championship side Colchester United.

Speculation is rife: Many many players will have a bad taste left in their mouths over the baby Bentley comments and their subsequent demise under the new helmsman-ship of the club, and as a result will want to go, or be pushed. Some of the more loyal will want to stay, being Claret n Blue through and through; Yossi has committed to the fray for the next 5 years, BRILLIANT. The tremendous upheaval of the Argie duo still smoulders on, even now Masher adds fuel to the fire of conjecture, will Carlito have his Way and become part of the ‘Ammers folklore or will he hop on the ferry ‘cross the Mersey? Change of ownership and manager, hearsay and supposition, all add to the trials and tribulations of West Ham United Football Club that still ripple out through the pond of the Premier League, not to mention the small matter of survival. We fans seem to have miraculously moved on already and want new international blood so that we can compete with the ‘top four’ next season, already we are posting our fictitious sides for the forth-coming campaign, how much money do we have to spend and where is it best spent? However truly speaking this last one ain’t over yet, the final curtain hasn’t fallen on it, not yet; “Oh yes it has I hear you all say”, how about arbitration, “oh yeah well there is arbitration”. I reckon the people at the club who are running the show must still be feeling a little shell-shocked, falling back into the armchair of life and breathing a great sigh of relief that could be heard by all the ‘Ammers fans Down-under, what do you think? A fly on the wall would here something like…”lets see exactly where we’re at, who wants to stay and who wants to go, more to the point who do we want to keep? There are 3 or 4 world class players we have our eye on (like the Ecuadorian Carlos Tenorio maybe) but let us not be too hasty, more haste less speed an’ all that, let us plan this next crusade with precision, taking our time to forge a side that will realistically challenge for a top six place in 2007/2008, maybe even scare the big boys a little. The Pool and the Gooners are gonna fair much better next season doing so badly this, mark my words. Let Neville’s revolving door stop spinning and then as he says let us replace quantity with quality. Looks like Berbatov is off for the right deal so S***s are still a feeder club with no real ambition, not us anymore, sign Tevez and prove that we really are the “sleeping giant” Eggert Magnusson believes we are. The Roman army ruled the known world for 600 years we finally took our country back in the 2nd century, in the same vain let WEST HAM UNITED take the league back from Enid Blyton’s famous four or was it five (I jest :o) The people at our famous club now know what they are doing, In them I trust; Can’t wait to see who we get and can’t wait to see us run them ragged next season. West Ham ‘Til I Die

I have read you post several times now..and it is very well written. My 6 year old daughter suggested we sign "Air Bud: from the Disney movies who plays football. ( I laughed but considering I have not read all the postings on who we should obtain and who should be allowed to leave, I would not be suprised if the dog is already metioned in some previous post.) However, we need to look at this period of signings as being strategic in nature. As a business would develop a 3 year and then a 5 year year business plan. I believe the board is applying the same type of strategy. This may not be one of superstardom, or even individual ability but one of team chemistry. Perhaps the Board is looking to build around 1 player with 4 major support players around him..then 7 to 10 support players around them.. ( US strategy used in developing teams in American Football ). At this point your guess is as good anyone elses.

It's become obvious that Eggert doesn't take any prisoners, normally contract negotiations take forever, but he's sorted this out proper quickly according to Yossi...finally, someone at the helm with the force to push this club forward.

Fantastic news! Yossi knows that us fans love him! I just hope that Yossi is given the chance to play in a central role next year and then we'll get the best out of him. He always gives 100% and even does his fair share of defensive work. A great player and he was an absolute bargain at 2.5 mill. Hopefully NRC will decide to stay cos there's no denying the fact that he's a great player when he's on top of his game. He's only a young lad and I hope he achieves great things with us.

totally agree with you there mate, such a steal at 2.5 million. i remember pards saying that it was great day for west ham when we signed him, and i wernt sure what he was going on about. but he could be world class next season, and as you say reo-coker must stay as he was part of the team that helped us stay up. he also has the potential to get better. i really hope we keep the players who tore bolton apart in the first half because that was one of the greatest west ham performances. when you think about it we really do have some talent with the likes of green, anton, neill, collins, upson, gabbidon, yossi, NRC, noble, boa, ashton, zamora, tevez (hopefully) even harewood on his day.
