Magnificent 7Sees Hammers Home Safely Man Utd 0-1 West Ham

West Ham United's seventh win out of nine matches was enough to not only secure Premiership safety and thus ensure one of the most incredible escapes ever, but also to shut the mouths of those who said Hammers should have been deducted three points. Winning at Manchester Utd merely confirmed that a team like West Ham, no disrespect meant to Neil Warnock, should be there to grace the league and who knows what might happen next season? 'Old sad eye' Alan Curbishley deserves this moment, one minute he was a potential England manager, the next he was being cursed by all and sundry for Hammers lamentable performances, he said "even though I had played for West Ham I didn't really appreciate how massive the support is" he emerged from the cauldron with dignity and courage, the latter quality being embodied by Carlitos Tevez who almost single handedly dragged the team out of the mire. How much more is the Apache worth after today's result? His value may have soared so much that West Ham could be priced out of the market, but maybe a deal could be struck to take him on a protracted loan for a big fee to be paid to Kia Joorabchian, after all Carlitos is young, another season or two as a big fish at West Ham would hardly harm his value, if he is banging goals in on a regular basis for West Ham his residual value would only increase, and who knows by that time Hammers could be in a position to buy him outright, much would also depend on whether he gets to feature in the Argentine set up for internationals. All the boys were heroes today, doubtless they would have been aware of the unveiling of the Bobby Moore statue, and you get the feeling that this game was for him as well as the fans. Full match report to follow, followed by possibly the most massive hangover in history. Commiserations to Neil Warnock and Sheffield Utd, great supporters and a manager who had a bark much less worse than his bite. - Ed Man Utd: Van der Sar, O'Shea, Brown, Heinze, Evra (Giggs 57), Solskjaer, Carrick (Scholes 58), Fletcher, Richardson, Smith (Ronaldo 58), Rooney. Subs Not Used: Kuszczak, Vidic. West Ham: Green, Neill, Collins, Ferdinand, McCartney (Spector 28), Benayoun, Reo-Coker, Noble, Boa Morte, Zamora (Harewood 63), Tevez (Mullins 82). Subs Not Used: Walker, Davenport. Booked: Collins, Tevez. Goals: Tevez 45. Att: 75,927. Ref: M Atkinson (W Yorkshire).

Whelan's saying that now, he won't be saying f>uk all soon. We were magnificent today, fantastic. Spooky the way the game was like L'Arse. We score near end of 1st half and then Boa misses a sitter. Who cares? Except Sheff U fans, they've been on the news moaning. PRICKS!!! I think that is the last we have seen of Carlos Tevez, I hope not. Lets push on next year, a few good signings plus Tevez would do me. COME ON YOU IRONS!!!! Drunk but happy!!

I just wanted to say a massive well done to West Ham. They deserved to win yesterday, and to stay in the premiership, because more than anything over the last few wks they are the ones that have shown the class and skill to prove they are top flight football material. I have to say how strange it is that the moaning is coming from the clubs all around us at the bottom of the table and not from other temas higher up in the table. Its just plain sour grapes because bottom line is the likes of Charlton and Shef Utd just couldnt stay up on their own merits and had to resort to trying to stay up by getting points taken from another side. Sheff Utd took their eye off what they needed to do yesterday afternoon by wasting their time banging on about point deduction and banking too much on West Ham losing to keep them and Wigan in the premiership, and if the truth be told Warnock knows that. West Ham have a real chance next season to make an impact on the League with the backing they now have. Well done lads, and well done Alan Curbishley for proving that the great escape was possible.

Did you happen to see the man u game? Thery were all over us and second half showed west ham to be what they really are-just a nothing side that play negative football. Where do people get this idea that west ham play attractive football. All you ever do is rave about average players at best e.g. noble, green, ferdinand, gabidon. Get a grip . You dont play attractive football and are as boring as chelsea to watch. PS. lONG LIVE THE LONG BALL GAME THAT JAMES COLLINS HAS MASTERED

What a bunch of absolute legends! I really thought it was all going to go against us when Sheffield took the lead and Man U were battering our goal, the way we stood firm at Old Trafford was just incredible. Everyone's been concentrating on the contribution of Tevez and the Z man which has undoubtedly been immense but I think the biggest transformation has been in defence. It wasn't that long ago that we were shipping 3 into Fulham, 2 at Newcastle and 4 against the spuds to lose from winning positions and we looked like we were going to concede from virtually every attack especially from set pieces (remember conceding 2 to Linvoy Primus!!!) . Then Upson turned up billed as the answer to all these defensive problems and got injured immediately and I just couldn't see how we were going to do it going into the stretch with the games we had coming , but they've all been immense at the back. Clean sheets at Arsenal and Man U, against, supposedly, the most potent attacks in the league and then keeping out Everton, Wigan etc... the boys at the back have really come good. It was such an outlandish fantasy to even contemplate survival after the S***s collapse but 2 months later... WE DID IT!! still rubbing my eyes in disbelief looking at the league table. And as for this Legal crap that they're STILL going on about let me just quell any fears that may be out there, there is no way on god's Robert Green earth that they will have any measure of success at the courts. So Warnock and McCabe IT'S OVER AND WE STAYED UP so tough sh-it. COYI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done lads, and it's certainly been an exciting season!! For all that - could we get back to loitering mid-table without qualifying for the UEFA Cup??!! That'd be nice....

What a game, what a season... I have been through every emotion, as all reading this would have done too I'm sure. A real team effort 2day, although at periods it looked as if we were sitting too deep I feel it worked a treat as we managed to keep them in front of us and could throw bodies at the ball. What a signing Neill was, next season if he stays fit he will be a superb right back... And a special mention must go to Collins and Noble - no coincidence that we have been winning games with those two in the team..... One last point, if we can keep hold of Tevez - which I'm sure Eggy and AC will try their upmost to do I will be delighted, if not we should retire the No.32 shirt to show how much he means to all at West Ham... Clearly there have been great players at West Ham who may deserve this more than Carlitos - but noone would actually want the number 32 (unless to be like Carlos) and it would be a fitting way to end a beautiful, even if it is short-lived, relationship. I f*ucking love West Ham, see all the faithful West Ham fans next season for, Im sure, another rollercoaster ride. "We are west hams claret and blue army" never a truer word spoken

What an amazing day. Was feeling physically sick watching the game which i thought was down to my hangover, but as soon as the final whistle went i made a miraculous recovery. Had to leave the room for the last 10 minutes because i couldn't bear to watch. Carlos Tevez i fu**ing love you man. Quality goal yet again. I pray that you'll stay with us but if not you're still a legend to me. Also has anyone seen the stats from the game? Man Utd had 13 blocked shots, proving our defence was awesome yet again. And just to think after we got beat by Watford i posted a topic on here saying our season was over. Just shows i was talking bollocks and am happy to admit i got it wrong. Collins, Neill, Noble and Green have played major roles in getting us out of trouble. Also cannot underestimate the performances of Zamora and Reo Coker lately who frustratingly were'nt consistent enough for the majority of the season. But Tevez, genius is not a big enough word to describe you and what you've done for our club. Can't wait for the end of season review to come out on dvd. Forever Claret and Blue, through and through! I fu**ing love West Ham!

I thought A) west ham were dead and buried, 2 months ago. B) They were wrong to sack PARDEW. I am pleased to admit i was wrong...that was the west ham of old, i welcome the new west ham GUTS and GLORY !!!! BRILLIANT!!!! CURBS has definately got something, i dont know what. Usually i am happy that the season is over for a few months....... But now i cant wait to see what happends in the transfer market. Mid table next year, then i can see champions league. Just as EGGY predicted. I love him. TEVEZ i want you to stay, but if you go to europe, thank you and all the best.

how good was today eh!!!! its alllike the last time we won at old trafford wen dicanio scored to make the result finish 1-0. we must do all we can now to keep tevez. but if we cant and he does go then you cant blame him atall. he has given the whole team a lift scoring 7 in 9 games and setting up nearly all the other goals weve scored in last nine games. so where ever tevez is next season he still and allways will be a west ham legend and remembered as a true GOD i for one just love him and would be so sad to see him go but he well allways have a place for west ham in his heart that is one thing i do know! THERES ONLY 1 CARLOS TEVEZ!!!! Shall be singin that first game of the season whether he is there or not!!! see ya all next season STILL in the premiership!!!

Neil was awsome, Collins a true hero. I watched it in a pub in Shropshire (east end ex pat) rather be in the Boleyn. Seriously tho, If Curbs keeps going and keeps Tev, we are top four team Bring it on next season, with Deano back and Upson on the mend we will be invincible. We are the bastards in claret and blue. A hammer for 45 years.

yer! Collins is pure class with his natural beauty and style he brings to the game. Centr backs should not only be able to defend but play football. He simply encourages bad football. Collins should take note of Woodgate, nesta and ferdinand.

Neil goes on about other teams fielding weakened sides, but he was not complaining when Liverpool put out a reserve side on the opening day of the season or when his side beat Arsenal's reserves over Christmas," said Bassett. "Blimey, Arsene Wenger played Aliadiere, Flamini, Baptista and Hoyte which was probably the worst side Arsenal have put out this season. I think Neil Warnock has got a convenient memory. He should remember that he is four points better off thanks to Liverpool and Arsenal.

What a day!!! But...... Interestng to read a few of the comments below, particularly those apologising for giving the players grief. Whilst it's been an amazing 9 games we mustn't forget the shambles of the 1st 29 - in my opinion the effort of the last couple of months should be the norm - & a good late run will not make me forget the shambles of the rest of the season & the startling lack of effort by many of the players. And to be honest I don't think those that matter at the club will forget either... We have the core of a very good team here - Green, Collins, Upson, Gabbidon, Neill, Yossi, Noble, Tevez & Ashton (& perhaps Bobby). But for what they contributed for most of the season I'd get rid of Mullins (for his winging about JM), Harewood, Matty, Konchesky, NRC & Ferdinand. Rumour has it that there will be quite a few funds available, an opportunity to get in some players with real ambition. Bit harsh perhaps but lets not forget how we so very nearlly ended up in the Coca Cola.

From what I see he seems happy at Liverpool. A side should only want players that truly want to be there. I believe this is the case with Tavez and that is why people are seeing such great performances from him. A good mix of "real" young talent and a couple of older hard heads makes for a great team. Balance in sport is everything. A Aussie hammer supporter.

Collins was great, Teves's goal amazing, but to me Benayoun was a class above; accurate passing, slowing the game down, keeping possession, defending off the line but the most important thing of the lot he seems to have a brain an ability to see whats going on around him. Please don't sell him.

The last nine results have vindicated footballers over athletes, even though Curbishley did have to bring on Harewood and Mullins on a number of occasions. Curbishley had his bit of luck in having to play Noble as Pardew did with Elliot Ward. Spector did a good job in the last games coming on in pressure situations. Harewood, Mullins, Etherington, Dailly should be let go.

Balls to Warnock. Jonathon Spector's balls to be precise, the tackle or block he managed to get on Rooney's shot was true West Ham. That's commitment, that's how much our players wanted to stay in the premier league Neil Warnock, maybe your Championship team should take note. James Collins was brilliant again today, everyone did their job. And of course the icing on the cake was Tevez scoring the winning goal that keeps us safe for another season, he's been so inspirational. Now let's build on this and not repeat this season's lows ever again. I for one can't stand the pain. Come on you Hammers. Adamski.
