Never A Dull Moment At West Ham

The last act of bile regarding the club's signing of Argentine Internationals Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez is about to be played out as The Premier League has accorded Sheffield Utd the right to ask for an arbitration panel, however they have told the relegated club that they are wasting their time and money. Good, now that's out the way the Press interest in West Ham will soon shift to the club's involvement in pending transfers. With wholesale changes inevitable, Hammers will once again be grabbing plenty of headlines, but for the right reasons this time. The current players that most fans seem to want to stay at the Boleyn are: Green, Neill, Collins, Upson, McCartney, Gabbidon, Noble, Benayoun, Zamora, Ashton and Tevez. The jury is still out regarding Davenport, Spector, Reo-Coker, Ferdinand, Boa-Morte, Harewood and Etherington, but Carroll, Konchesky, Paintsil, Dailly, Sherringham, Bowyer, Quashie, Mears and Mullins are all on their way out, they will be joined by a few others as 'Curbishley's Cull' gains momentum. - Ed .. Just wondering,if this arbitration decides that the Premier League decision was wrong, and decides to relegate us after all, would we take over Sheff.Utd's fixtures?Although,if this does happen,i hope Eggert sues the arse off those northern prats!

Sheff Utd have about as much chance of winning the case as the Spuds have of becoming a big club... NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER!!!

freddy adu has been linked with man u and chelsea, he also looks a good player. f$~k it, i think we should see what he has really got before man u or chelsea do and then we will be kicking ourselfs if he turns out good. if he is rubbish sell him back to the yanks, they will pay millions for anyone
Submitted by sunyac on 23 May, 2007 - 17:17.

Im thinking Freddy Adu would be a great signing, and go after riqeulme, heinze and saviola. Lets go with the south american feel, and then hit the new premiership season with all guns blazin'.

its against other yanks, but looks like hes got some good touches http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsLsfDN2tMo

Adu? He's a Ghanaian...and a money grabber. Been talked up big over in the U.S for years but think there are far better players in Europe. would be a gamble signing him coz he'd cost big time bucks that would be better spent on someone we know is quality.
Submitted by sunyac on 23 May, 2007 - 17:23.
Not sure about that stuff about him being from Ghana. Yes he has been hyped over here in the US.. and his skills are pretty good even from a Preimership standpoint; not great however..not worth the money..but from a maturity stand point with regard to the english game I sort of see him in the same area as Spector.. Young..allot of heart..but needs further development on the skll level.

riquelme would be a great signing with heinze who is a regular premiership performer. would love to see riquelme.. hopefully a south american punter can send him our way haha

just thought anyone who didn,t see this snippet in the mirror might like to. sir geoff hurst surprised corporate guests at a pre-match q & a session before the fa cup final when he was asked whether he wanted man u or chelsea to win. "I couldn,t give a f***" replied the great man." I support west ham". Says it all come on you irons.

West Ham United Chairman Eggert Magnusson today issued the following statement: "There is bound to be a lot of speculation over the summer about our playing squad. It is normal in a transfer window - who is going, who we want to bring in. "We are ambitious for this club and what we can achieve next season. We want to strengthen the squad and to build on the positives of the 2006/07 season. I'm proud of what the club has achieved and now we can move forward. "We will work hard over the summer to prepare for next season and that includes keeping our best players who want to play for us. "There will be a particular focus on Carlos Tevez and I want him to stay. I suspect a lot will be written about his future but the starting point is that he is a West Ham player, registered with and contracted to the club with three years remaining on a 4 year contract. Whatever happens next we will act to protect the best interests of West Ham United FC".

I'm glad he said that. Stops people speculating about how much it will cost for us to buy Tevez ... we already own him -- for the next three years anyway -- and what's more, you can guarantee it's all signed sealed and above board. The only thing that would make tevez leave the club now, is tevez himself if he decides he wants to go and play for one of the european giants ... I'm hoping he decides to stay for another season at least. If he proves himself in the premier league over the course of an entire season next year i reckon he will then be able to handpick virtually any club in the world he wants to move on to. and west ham will be able to benefit from the sell on fee + we should be able to secure a big-name replacement having moved up in the world in terms of the quality of player we can attract to the club.

west ham and reliable thats two words that very rarely get mentioned in the same sentance. The only thing you can rely on west ham giving you is a poxy heart attack!!! Cheers mate
Submitted by Hayden on 23 May, 2007 - 13:40.
Haha I think now that Arsehole Brown has left we might actually be able to rely on West Ham. Having said that Eggy did say Pards was safe then sacked him haha.
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 13:46.
Eggy must've also said "Alan...why don't we spend some money buying a player thats been relegated with all 4 of his previous clubs. Nigel Quashie is definalty the man for this club" haha Nigel Quashie West hams saviour!!!!
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 13:04.
Well Carlos seems like an extremely decent bloke and knows he is worshipped by us lot, he's said West Ham will always have number 1 priority so lets hope eggy and the board make him the first signing of a brand new era for OUR football club
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 13:08.
Just heard on the wire that Chelsea are in for Tevez...35million. If he goes to Chelsea, all this blah blah about loyalty etc goes out the window.
Submitted by Hayden on 23 May, 2007 - 13:13.
If I dare say this.. I don't think he'll leave to another English club. I think if he leaves it'll only be to a European club. He's our beloved Tevez and we're his beloved West Ham, I don't think he'd want to do that to us.
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 13:33.
But he is not master of his own destiny. He goes where his owners say. That why we are in all this bother as we only had him on loan, and his owners could tell him to play or not to play. We will have to pay 35m and eggy is not going to pay unless he gets in at least 20m from outgoing transfers. That would mean Ashton, reo coker, gabbidon and ferdinand going.
Submitted by Anonymous on 24 May, 2007 - 12:30.
We haven't got him on loan. we've got him on a four year contract with three years left to run.
Submitted by Hayden on 23 May, 2007 - 13:36.
I am starting to think it's less sinister than that. Joorabchian is a businessman.. while he wants to make as much money as he can off his investments he's going to want to keep increasing that money. If he sends his player somewhere he doesn't want to go.. away from where he wants to be, his performance is obviously going to be affected. Now that this has come out that we had a 4 year contract with Carlos, 3 years left.. I don't get how we'd have to pay anything to "buy" him.. he's already ours. Eggert and Duxbury have both said that he's like any other player, he's a West Ham player and will be unless someone wants to buy him and he wants to go.

All we have to do now .. is not pass on any of Real Madrid's phone messages to Carlitos haha. "Yeah sorry he's out at the moment"
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 13:06.
yeah added to barcelona, chelsea, AC milan we'll have to employ an army of people to sit on the telephones!!!! Still well worth it if we can keep him. You are my tevez, my carlos tevez, we signed you dodgy on deadline day, we'll never know just, how much you cost us, but please dont take my tevez away!!!! All together now!!!
Submitted by Hayden on 23 May, 2007 - 13:10.
Get Konchesky, Newton et al sat on the phones.. we'll be well away. At least they'll have something to do! Who knows, they might actually be good at something!

Konchesky cant stop a ball let alone a phone call

Great article.. Shame about Reo-Coker.. Good that it's cleared the Tevez thing up.. We just have to wait and see now who is going to bid for him.
Submitted by Plymouth Hammer on 23 May, 2007 - 12:34.
Lets hope we dont do our usual hanging around and try to play it clever routine that we usually do !!! lets get in and pay whats needed, if we do reasonably well next season we will find it easier to get higher quality players in !!!
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 12:26.
personally..i think we should hang on to davenport and possible spector just as squad players. reo-coker is another one that i feel if he gets his priorities right could lead the england team out in the future. davenport had a good season at the spuds before he came to us and feel he could improve. would like to see gabby agbonlohor(great speed). and scott parker, tevez(goes without saying!), a quality left back - baines frm wigan perhaps?. dont really think going abroad will work to well with curbs as he is an old school manager. Would love love love to see tevez in the claret and blue next year but if he doesnt...i think bent is a good goalscorer at chartlon considering the crap crappy klint service he has had!..what does everyone think??..
Submitted by Hayden on 23 May, 2007 - 12:56.
I agree about Baines.. but we can write that one off now. What with the Whelan - Tevez saga.. and us rejecting £3mil for Ethers... NO chance of them accepting any offer.
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 17:46.
business is business. i think they might be more profesional about transfer dealings? not sure obviously but would like to think so. makes a bit of a mockery out of the premiership if they dont take our bids with a fair standpoint and us likewise.
Submitted by Hayden on 23 May, 2007 - 11:56.
Can't believe the Spuds are having talks with Younes Kaboul.. WE should have got him!
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 11:41.
The spuds have apparentely agreed a fee for Gareth Bale.
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 11:58.
i think curbs must start working in the transfer market very soon....we need top quality players to fight for a top six place..left midfield is poor i say bid for pederson/ van dar vaart in the centre i would love to see manuel fernandes with noble up top ashton and tevez if the legend leaves gudjohnsen would be ok but we need more than one striker...i would go for zigic too.

Ken Livingstone has told West Ham he'll back their plans to move from Upton Park and the Mirror says the former Parcelforce depot adjacent to West Ham tube station is a possible site and would be part of a £350million entertainment and housing complex to be built by 2012. A club source said: "There are still a few things to think about and the club have to make sure the deal is right but it is looking very positive."
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 13:39.
ken Livingstone wants West Ham to kick start the regeneration of a very run down area. Its a fact that West Ham station would not have existed if not for West Hams original owner Arnold Hills arranging with the railway to build a station to serve his memorial stadium. West Ham moved 3years after the station opened to Upton Park because most fans walked to the ground. Very few came by rail

Looks like we're gonna be giving Hogan Ephraim a long term contract then sending him back on loan to Colchester.. I think that's good news.. reckon he'll turn out to be a fantastic player.. Also i found this - Kia Joorabchian is due to meet with West Ham chairman Eggert Magnusson this week about extending Tevez's deal but with his stock now at an all-time high, the lure and financial power of the FA Cup winners might prove too much. - Which is good.. but it was in amongst a story about how Chelsea want to buy Tevez for £35 mil... ANYWHERE but Chelsea!

anywhere but chelsea or tottenham, or anywhere else

If he does move (which I think is very likely) I really hope he goes abroad. Whilst he's a lege for what he's done for us, I'd hate to see him cracking them in against us next season. I think it's amazing that a 22(?) year old can be worth so much based on the performance of 8-9 games but I think everyone agrees he'll prove his worth and repay whatever massive fee is paid for him.

Why don't we ship Quashie off to Wigan and see if he can do the job for us? Or maybe he could take the Blades down to League 1.

Hahahhah. Well said mate. Curbs could try looking around Europe. There's a brilliant Jappy forward in Germany, check this link out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naohiro_Takahara Besides scoring goals, he can sell shirts too! Forever blowing bubbles..... Asian Hammer

Getting old, so memory gaps. Did we 'loan' Mascherano or 'sell' him? At the Premier League investigation on Tevez we had to hurriedly change his status so he could play at Wigan, so how could we 'sell' Mascherano? If it was only a 'loan', are we getting him back now that he seems to got the knack of playing the English way?
Submitted by Hayden on 23 May, 2007 - 11:06.
The way I interpreted it was.. We had Mascherano and Tevez on loan from this MSI company. Mascherano moved to Liverpool so he ceased to have anything to do with us - Liverpool took over his loan.
