Ruddy Hell West Ham Keep Stealing The Headlines

Submitted by Neville Nixon on 22 May, 2007 - 10:16.
Having been on a brief sojourn we return to find that the media's obsession with all things West Ham has continued unabated, the emphasis has however shifted. Instead of the 'Babe' and 'Whiner' show, there now appears to be an almost unhealthy interest in the possible comings and goings of Hammers players. Of course the 'Carlitos' saga is easy meat for the Press, and as the Argentine International will be playing for his country in the Copa America there be guaranteed soundbites available, throw in a bit of dodgy translation and you have a story that can just run and run, we even expect Wigan to make a late bid for Tevez! Only joking, but they have had the Gaul to offer £3 Million for Matty Etherington, some fans think that Curbs should have snapped their arm off for such a generous offer, others believe the Latics deserve to be 'sent to Coventry' which is where they will end up playing their football after next season's inevitable relegation... There are plenty of snippets as opposed to Whippets to roll out, including a chance meeting with Rick 'the Grass' Parry! - Ed

1. Neville - please sort out website page size; unfortunately my laptop screen is not eight feet wide! 2. Agree wholeheartedly vis-a-vis dodgy translating and typical tabloid style picking one line of the story out of context to give a misleading headline. As far as I can make out from English stories and Spanish stories (as far as my Spanish goes anyway): Carlos is looking to either stay at West Ham, or if he does go then it'd only be to one of the very top European clubs. 3. Just like to say that I sincerely hope Tevez does stay. If we're ever to make Top Six (or better) we need to show the resolve to keep someone like Tevez. Otherwise we're seriously risking a re-run of the selling of Rio, leading ultimately to the firing of Arry & Lampard Sr, departure of Lampard Jr, then the "no fire sale" fire sale of talent a year further on. If we keep El Apache, then we've a better chance of picking and choosing who we keep and sign, rather than having to accept whoever does NOT want to leave (in many cases just those not good enough to leave) - and of signing players that might do okay in the lower reaches of the Prem at best, which is not where Eggert is aiming us at. If we keep Tevez and build around him, Noble, Neill & Green (plus preferably in-form with no off-field antics versions of Yossi, NRC, Anton, etc) then we can seriously challenge for UEFA or even, based on form of the end of this season, dare I say it, a Champions League play-off!?

Actually this 'wide screen' thing is caused by people holding onto one letter or digit forever! For example (no blame attached) this event was caused by plymouth hammer holding onto the ZZZZ for too long. Basically if the held letter goes out of vision it will cause the article and it's replies to be stretched, I hope that explains it. , Neville Nixon, Editor

Nev, why all of a sudden do we have to scroll left to right to read the posts. Pretty annoying mate. Is it just my computer or is everyone getting the same? be good if you can let me know how to fix it. Does anyone know when Apache will have his mind made up for him. Almost as annoying as have to scroll left and right all these rumours of going to European 'big' club. Dumb p.c. user....

Yeah bloody annoying, it looks like someone has changed the screen resolution/size. Sort it out Nev PLEASE.

It looks like Tevez is not expected to be back next season. His 20 million GBP tag is above the Hammers budget. Just about a month ago the press dubbed the Argentinian pair as a flop. Mascherano is actually going to be in the Liverpool starting line-up. As usual the press got it wrong and now all the big clubs will be starting a bidding war for Tevez. Never believe the press unless it is a fact that is carved in stone. Another rumour is that Curbs maybe trying to replace Tevez with Bellamy. However, Bellamy has denied that he will be leaving Liverpool. So the saga continues. I expect that the Hammers will pick up a big signing to replace Tevez, and it is definitely "NOT" Bellamy. I know he hasnt done a great deal at Newcastle but what about DAMIEN DUFF as a contender for the left wing? I dont know if the reality of the miracle escape has really kicked in yet. Theres no doubt that we would have lost Neil Upson Benayoun possibly Green and most impoetantly ASHTON had we gone down. I wonder if it will affect the bling brigades attitute knowing now that we could potentially bring in real quality to contend for places. I cant imagine that anyone of the players can now hold the club to ramsom with the poor performances we endured this season. The difference in our future now is cataclismic.
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 07:10.
He is injured too much, the one thing we cannot afford is to spend big money on a player that could be out for a large part of the season otherwise I would say good shout. I wouldnt mind seeing Robbie Keene in claret and blue, I have the feeling he would be great with Ashton, an old fashioned striker that can finish and an out and out poacher that can finish ! Carlos is the key to everything if hes stays it would most definetly help us attract more world class players

I have heard from a good source that King Carlos is going and we are buying Emile Heskey.
Submitted by Anonymous on 22 May, 2007 - 23:04.
Your an arseh*le please don't ever say something as stupid as that ever again i'd rather be relegated in some ways than have that twat wear the claret and blue. Carlos is going nowhere he is a humble man and he realizes that he has an oppurtunity to create a legacy, he's a god and we all love him, he knows that and he is such a special player that he literally has the world at his feet, yet he knows his own capabilities and he knows that he can create something extremely special almost singlehandedly he doesn't have to conform to the norm of going to Real, Barca etc as a result of his talents. Carlitos Way all the Way!

the fella who suggested podolski is spot on for me. He certainly knows how to put them away, top finisher from what iv seen and heard of him. his record speaks for itself! if we could keep tevez (please eggy!), add podolski to ashton and Zamora, we would really have the complete set of forwards for the very top level. id rather see someone like this as opposed to bent/viduka/yakubu/gomes and so on. they're just not good enough. another thought, guti at madrid?? i think if (and i hope) reo coker buggers off then him and nobes in the middle would work a treat. hear hes available for £6m!?! or Riquleme (another argie)? we also need a leftback and backup keeper. anyway i just hope curbs doesnt blow it on rubbish and has-beens, this isnt charlton now mate. id get all the potential targets to meet with eggy straight away! he seems to instill everyone he meets of his vision of west ham as a top top club. i wouldnt leave it until jan though, will get taken to the cleaners and have to settle for second best, if not third-rate! this is the time!!! but anyway, if we dont sign tevez in my opinion this is just another false dawn as that would send out the completely wrong message to other worldclass players. He has to be ensured the team will be built around him and that his future is here! huge clear-out needed also. COME ON EGGY!

If we even so much as look at Lukas Podolski I am going to stop supporting my beloved WHUFC!! (Actually probably not!) This boy is absolute SCHEISSE!! He is pants. The only way he deserves to be on the same park as Tevez is when Germany play Argentina. I'd rather have Heskey than Podolski. And Heskey's really astonishingly bad!!! If we want a Bundesliga striker then Diego from Werder Bremen. COYI Irons Germany

sidwells a cabbage if he does there is only one reason mourinho is signin him and that is to cover for john obi and essien while there away at the african nations and soon as there back he will be in the reserves til hes sold at the end of the season unless he sets the world a light over there which i doubt he wil have any real impact. like Micheal Essien when he played for lyon and stil now when he plays for ghana he looks sensational but he is not aloud to express him self at chelsea

Just watched this video on youtube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4DdR2-F7hI A reminder of just how much of a headline grabbing season we've had. FA Cup final - Ashton out for season - Shaun Newton cocaine episode - sign Argies - Humiliated in UEFA cup - Pardew Vs Wenger bust up - Humiliated in league cup - Anton "big boots" Ferdinand arrested - Get taken over by Icelandic millionaire - Give Pardew vote of confidence and then sack him a week later - Appoint Curbs - Roy's gambling addiction/alcoholism - Get tonked by promoted Reading 6-0 - Teddy's girlfriend gets involved in international race row - Flurry of January signings - Upson and Neill get injured on debut's - Matty admits gambling addiction - Get drubbed 4-0 by former manager - Bailiffs turn up at training ground for Carlton Cole - TB resigns from board - Get fined £5.5 mil and are constantly top headline for a month! - Anton defies club and f-ucks off to states - THE GREAT ESCAPE!!!. ALL IN ONE BLOODY SEASON!!!!! That's enough for a decade surely! Think of the average Portsmouth\Newcastle\Man City fan and the season they've had in comparision YAWN. I wouldn't have it any other way. COYI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to say - Carlos Tevez is the absolute bollocks. What a player. I watch his goals on youtube every day, and every day it makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. I mean, we only just started to scratch the surface of what the man can do towards the end of the season - just imagine what he'd be like next year after a good rest, a proper pre-season, and not coming off the back of a world-cup, which i think some people forgot at the start of the season - just look at the season Henry had! The man is absolute class, plays with unbelievable passion, and has all the talent in the world. The fact that he's mentioned in the same breath as our club means that thew egg man should do everything humanly possible to sign him, and i think he recognises that fact from the things he's been saying. If we do keep hold of Tevez, and he stays fit, then the sky really is the limit, i really think we could achieve CL football next season if we get a couple more quality signings. If NRC leaves, which i personally hope he does, he's gonna really regret it in a few years time. All hail the egg man and tevez. All hail west ham's bright new future.

I thought we would be aiming a bit higher than Chris Riggot, Let him stay with the smoggies we'll have Woodgate instead!. I'd still like to see Stephen Appiah, good allround mid and scores goals.
Submitted by Tictac on 22 May, 2007 - 22:04.
I agree, Riggot is a million miles away from where we should be aiming. Appiah looked pretty decent at the world cup but then so did Diouf in '02! I wonder if there's still any chance of SWP coming cos that right side needs bolstering big time. I wouldn't be upset if Bellamy came either.

What paper wrote that crap? The Shite of The World or the Broken Mirror? We've got about a million centre backs why do we want to buy another one for? Anton, Collins, Gabbidon, Upson and Davenport... That's enough for me! Can't wait till Upson's back.
Submitted by Anonymous on 23 May, 2007 - 10:13.
its the quality of centre backs not the quantity that counts, those at west ham are all average and would struggle to get in a bottom premiership team

Sidwell going to Chelsea what a joker. He should have given Scott Parker (at least twice the player Sidwell is) a bell to see what it's like playing 2 games a season - Good luck to him!! I really don't understand what goes through these players minds. Surely a footballer wants to play week in week out - Essien, Lampard, Ballack, Mikel, Makalele & Diarra must be sh**ting themselves!!!

Arguably he has not joined a bigger club. A better team, of course, but not a bigger club. He will rot in their reserves and that's his problem not ours.
Submitted by Anonymous on 22 May, 2007 - 20:24.
Yeah I agree mate. Another promising player's career down the toilet. I guess it must be the lure of the huge money they will get even for not playing all year...and the pig headed belief that they are the best thing since Zidane. He'll be on the cheap in a year or so...when he hasnt kicked a ball apart from the league cup first round.

He isn't exactly playing at the highest level at the moment but his international goalscoring record is quite good bearing in mind the sort of opposition that he will have been up against, (at the worst bolivia, peru), (at the best brazil, argentina).

Theres a little rumour flying about that Yakubu is set to join - what are peoples opinions on that? Also I can't, for the life of me, understand why Sidwell has gone to Chelsea? To sit on the bench until the Africans leave for a couple of weeks mid-season? Badly advised. All this speculation is driving me mad. I know nothing is gonna happen for a couple of weeks at least but I keep checking back incessantly for news...I just hope we don't sign sh*t. We finally have a bit of dough to spend and the last thing I want is for Curbs to waste it.

never liked him anyway - deserves what he gets. how can you think of displacing makelele, essien, lampard (he did get 20 odd goals although shocking for his country), ballack will be better next season, mikel is better than him so sorry sidwell you made the wrong choice. some of these players think they are made for top 4 clubs. what makes chelsea a better club than us? people like lucas neill have sense. sidwell end up like ian wrights son - a bench warmer. although i wonder if he will even get on the bench there. mourinho obviously thought it was paul scholes available on a free, sadly its the equivalent in talent of hayden foxe. enjoy your new plastic fans.
