West Ham Making Plans Without Nigel

Submitted by Neville Nixon on 27 May, 2007 - 06:37.
As the fruition of one of the club's worst kept secrets, Hammers (ex)-captain Nigel Reo-Coker has finally handed in a transfer request. Well not quite actually, his advisor Tony Finnigan and his agent have been desperately trying to move their client on for ages and received short shrift from the club when attempting to re-negotiate the England U21 captain's contract. Reo-Coker who joined West Ham from Wimbledon/MK Dons, had his nose put severely out of joint following the arrivals of Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez from Corinthians on big wages, this in addition to his anger at not being made available for sale when Arsenal came sniffing around after his one and only really good season wearing the Claret & Blue, has made the players position untenable. Throw in the race card and the arrival of captain in the making Lucas Neill and it becomes pretty obvious that it was all going to end in toys out the pram and tears. There is another element involved, in case it had escaped readers notice, Eggert Magnusson is a family man who places great emphasis on family values, perhaps naively he was staggered and appalled at the 'moral decline' or 'cancer' that he discovered after completing the buy out from 'Brown the Crim'. Reo-Coker's previous propensity for 'roasting' (not the carvery type) will have done little to impress, but it was the tangled love life of various staff and squad members that really opened his eyes, the culmination of which was a dressing room bust up involving two people who were both seeing the same woman at the same time! Having had his eyes opened by what he saw, Eggert then further discovered the gambling culture that was inherent in the squad before deciding to take wide ranging and tough action, from that moment on it was only going to be a matter of time before NRC was going to be out of the door, however being a sound businessman Mr Magnusson kept his own council in order not to have a negative effect on the players value.. The club are looking to get around £8 Million for Reo-Coker with Aston Villa leading the hunt, not as much as the £12 Million he was worth a while ago, but still a good return on the £500,000 that he originally cost, but he will become a full International sooner rather than later. One baby bentley owner and a couple of gamblers on the way out, plenty more reprobates to follow- Ed

Buy Darren Bent, play him upfront with Tevez, and then play Ashton in Reo-Cokers position. Ashton flanked by Noble and Benayoun. Lucas Neil as captain at right back. Upson at centre half. Green in goal. That's the spine/framework for the team. Just fill in the spaces as required.

Do you know anything about football??? Ashton playing central midfield!! Although i don't mind Bent - Dean Ashton is absolute quality and will be more instrumental next year than tevez was this year. certain England international for next year. if NRC does leave, which looks very likely, Scott Parker would make an excellent replacement, and lets not forget hes a leader as well. completely agree with Lucas Neill as captain tho.

whose in your all time dream team? I've got Tevez, Dicannio, Moore, Brooking, Bonds, and Devonshire so far. Am considering putting Benayoun in there, but think he needs another year or two yet before he reaches legend status.

Do you know what? If we could keep Tevez I would be willing to swap both Harewood and Zamora in exchange for Darren Bent. Tevez and BENT upfront would be amazing with Dean Ashton playing just behind in the centre of midfield. I actualy believe Dean Ashton would make the most amazing attacking, goal-scoring midfielder. That would be a team full of goals.

Udinese remain confident that Sulley Muntari will complete his proposed transfer to Portsmouth, despite the Ghanaian star so far failing to agree personal terms at Fratton Park. Muntari has been in England to discuss the terms of his contract after the two clubs came to an agreement over a fee for the international midfielder on Thursday, reportedly in the region of £7million. Harry Redknapp has been unable to parade Muntari as his third signing of the summer after the free transfer arrivals of Sylvain Distin and Hermann Hreidarsson though, as some sticking points still remain. However, Udinese general director Roberto Zanzi has underlined the Serie A club's belief that Muntari is still on the brink of ending his six-year stay at Stadio Friuli. "Muntari has yet to reach personal terms with Portsmouth," said Zanzi. possible signing

I keep hearing the same old names coming up as possible signings and it is depressing Crouch Defoe Bellamy Bent Parker I have never liked watchimg any of these play I think they are all overated to say the least. Now we already have a good team and now they are finally playing the way they can we should be looking for some exciting players. Players we want to watch. These lot have had their chances and blown it. I dont think we should be looking at replacing one season wonders with the same. The thing with the quality players we have at the moment is that most of the time they can play at their highest level. Ok everyone has a bad run sometimes but the players we are talking about buying are the opposite they have their good runs and then return to being average at best. We need some flair players lets get Kalou Baptista Flamini Arteta players who like to play the game and will try to entertain not just pick up a pay check and sulk if it is not all going their way.

Defoe didn't hang around and fight for us in the Championship you nut. The little rat went and got himself sent off on numerous occassions and forced the club to sell him. Some people have short memories. Everyone on here is talking about us failing to sign anyone as yet, but the window doesn't open until the 01.06.07!!!! Who's to say that Eggert won't be parading a couple of new signing then....

As much as some hate it!! I think Defoe is coming!! Can't get in side for tottscum, wants to stay london, curbs worked with him before!! Say what you want but take out the transfer request on relegation day, he was awesome for us and his goalscoring record for us was class!! He even stuck around in champs with us when he blatantly could have gone!! When playing he could get us 20 goals a season and would be a great foil for ashton!! I've always said that id love to see the side that OUR youth system has produced and if we could get cole, carrick, defoe, johnson itd be OUR team!! Myabe even rio when hes 35!
Submitted by Anonymous on 28 May, 2007 - 19:05.
defoe cost us at least 9 points during the time he stayed with us in the championship, if anybody epitomises the self centered playing culture prevalent at the moment it's him. As for Johnson, good as he may be, we'd be getting rid of all 'the trouble' that has caused so many problems this year for a petty shop lifter. Get a grip.

Yeah make a team out of players weve made and a few we bought over last 5 years!! Green,Johnson,Rio,Upson,HELP,Yossi,Lampard,Carrick,Cole,Defo,Ashton. Champ league there!! Fok buying world class players lets just make them!! If this team came through now no way we'd sell them!!
