West Ham Set To Benefit As Carrick Moves

Submitted by Neville Nixon on 28 July, 2006 - 07:43.
As we previously reported, West Ham Utd are set to earn £3 Million as a sell on fee when Michael Carrick completes his move from Tottenham to Manchester Utd. This windfall comes at just the right time for Hammers boss Alan Pardew, who is close to finalising the signing of James Milner from Newcastle, ridiculous media reports that Marlon Harewood would be leaving the Boleyn as part of the deal are extremely wide of the mark. Assuming Milner can be safely on board soon, Pardew can then concentrate on securing the services of an additional goal keeper and a back up central midfielder. The Carrick cash is good news, and while some fans will lament the fact that our despised london rivals will be quids in, the fact remains that basically Hammers are starting from scratch again, and hopefully the board will have finally have learnt from their past mistakes. - Ed

after the glorius 30-yarder against tootscum, fletch wanted fiirst team football and with runours of midfielders heading our way he decided he werent gonna get it here so he went to palarse for 400k

SO NOW WE HAVE MORE UNFOUNDED RUMOURS ON HERE REGARDING NEW SIGNINGS.SOMEONE'S PUT A STORY ON HERE THAT WE ARE SIGNING DARIO SIMIC FROM A.C.MILAN,FOR 6.2 MILLION.HE IS,AS I'M SURE YOU ALL KNOW A CENTRE-HALF,NOT A RIGHT MIDFIELDER AS THE STORY SUGGESTS.ALSO,THE RUMOUR THAT WE WILL BE SIGNING DUSCHER WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK,FOR 5.5 MILLION.AS WE ALL KNOW,NEITHER PARDEW OR ALDRIDGE WOULD REVEAL ANYTHING UNTIL A PLAYER HAS PASSED A MEDICAL AND HAS OFFICIALLY SIGNED ON THE DOTTED LINE.ONE THING I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS NEV,HOW CLOSE ARE WE TO ACTUALLY GETTING MILNER?

Rodent seems to be digging his heels in about Milner - Ed

Mick in Iceland...brilliant comments, made the wife and I chuckle.... spot on!! Just like to add to that the strong finish with Harrys team, Rodents influence and trannies spoke for itself. We are a bigger club than Newcastle, and we have more tradition. I already have mt bet in on Roeder being sacked by Christmas.

Will someone please tell me why we got rid of Fletcher and kept DAILLY!!!!!! Fletcher is as versatile, but one slight difference.... HE ISN'T CRAP! Pards get on with it and sign Milner and get Halford, the boy is immense.

I looked up more about James Tomkins after the Gills game, as i thought he was really good. Apparently when he was doing the youth training thing (players usually get paid about £60 a week while doing this) he was earning £3000 a week just to keep Celski away!!!! Got to be good then aint he?

Will Tompkins and Reid be named in a 25 man squad for eufa cup as Chelsea and Arsenal have to do for the Champions league. Its why Chelsea are off loading players cheap, and maybe why we have let 10 go and only signed 4 so far. Anybody know and what 25 will you select?

I have seen him play a couple of times and he did not dominate the youth side like a young Alvin Martin,or Alan Curbishly did.Maybe playing with better players he will shine. The youth team have not had great players since Cole, Carrick, Rio Ferdinand and Lampard. As for his wages he probably signed full pro on his 17th birthday in March.

I think it's time to get our big name player pards have been talking about, Sean Wright-Phillips. But if he comes will Yossi gonna start on the bench? If so, Yossi will be gone by January...
Submitted by claretandblue4ever on 30 July, 2006 - 09:50.
Wheres fletcher gonna get a game with us? He won't make the bench especially since we've been linked with SWP, Milner, Emerton, Duscher, and Malbranque

Both Noble and Reid are high quality prospects and ready to take their positions in the premiership. Tomkins also a great prospect. Great to hear how well they are doing in preseason. It is part of our West Ham heritage and tradition that we bring on academy boys into the first team and there has been a lot of talk on this site critical of the club for releasing some of our recent products. Perhaps Noble will be a better midfield prospect than many of those suggested on these pages. At least he will be playing with some passion for the club colours.

I'M NOT HAVING A POP AT PARDEW HERE,BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND HIM AT THE MOMENT.ONE MINUTE HE'S SAYING THAT NONE OF OUR PLAYERS WILL BE LEAVING,AS WE NEED A BIG SQUAD,THEN HE'S SELLING FLETCHER TO PALACE,A PLAYER WHO CAN FILL IN AT MANY POSITIONS.PLEASE PARDEW,EXPLAIN YOUR REASONS FOR LETTING A GOOD SQUAD PLAYER GO.

The reason Pards allowed Fletch to leave is that he had a year left on his contract and wanted regular first team football. He was always going to be a bit part player and he knew that. Pards hopefully has a superior quality replacement up his sleeve especially as his coffers will be boosted by this sale and the Carrick sell on dough.

I went to gillingham today and must say i was extremly impressed with our number 5. His name is james tomkins, he was brilliant. Zamora looked class and his cheeky lob would have made my day only to be saved by baker, who looks a good prospect, one for us to buy, maybe. Bowyer done well, noble must start every game, THIS BOYS A GENIOUS. I got a signed ball by teddy, safe!!!

Reo-coker hasn't played in any of the pre-season freindlies. This worries me. AP isnt thinking about starting Bowyer instead of him is he?

Submitted by Anonymous on 30 July, 2006 - 16:50.
OF course not hes club captain after all... Reo coker has a back injury, no way pardew would consider not starting RC probably the first name on the team sheet (well he would be mine anyway...)

wot is pards doing we need to sign more players quick. Look on the west ham midfield on the offical website had 10 midfielders. flether left, newton banned and we have 3 youth players. only 5 actual good midfielders. We need 3 top quality midfileders and hope we buy pansti the right back wot u think

steven appiah's a fantastic player. reckon there'll be bigger clubs sniffing around him than us though. it'll be interesting to see how the chimbonda and malbranque issues resolve themselves - with both players wanting away, and both clubs being clints. i reckon if we bide our time we could get em... imagine malbranque linking up with yossi next season... pure quality

We haven't got that long to get any more new players in before the start of the season. Perhaps with Carrick joining Man Utd (and hopefully £3m coming our way!)... Duscher could now be heading to us. This is the big-name signing that us supporters are desperately looking for, he could help take us on to the next level. However, everything's gone quiet on this tranfer rumour... Sidwell of Reading would also be a decent signing.

With Fletcher on his way to Palace for £400k ( many people have said all along that he was a steady Eddy and not Prem quality )the need for a quality holding player is greater than ever. Lets face it Mullins made that position his own last season, but Dailly isn't good enough as cover whilst Noble, Bowyer, Benayoun and NRC are all attacking midfielders. Pards even had to resort to playing Anton there when Mullins was injured. With the Carrick money beefing up our kity we should push the boat out and buy a top drawer player like Graveson, Maniche or Deucher, but in all reallity we probably can only attract the likes of Jakelka or Sidwell.
Submitted by Anonymous on 29 July, 2006 - 12:20.
we def need a good holding midfielder who can spray the ball around across the midfield area. John Welsh/ David Dunn or Dusher?
Submitted by Anonymous on 29 July, 2006 - 12:14.
o.. that's a bad news for us as fletcher went off. he's a great player and can cover up for the midfield. but we cant deprieve him of 1st team action. GL Carl. up the IRONS!

Time for Noble to step up and be counted for this season now Fletch has gone, and any1 thats seen him will know that this kid can make it in the big time.

Keep up the steady work Ed, I can't imagine any of our boys going to Newcastle, they have fought long and hard to play in the premiership with the Hammers, why on earth would they want to go to a club managed by Rodent! After finishing strongly last season,(deja vu) He is now blubbering the same old sophisticated reasons why his team are underachieving this term, none of which have anything to do with him (deja vu)" it is now time to splash some big bucks on anyone as long as they are expensive, followed by the customary nose dive to the relegation. Lucky lucky Newcastle. Mick in Iceland (Westham till I die)

I must say i am really getting worried about the lack of quality being added to the side for this campaign!I reckon Pantsil will only be signed once the Chimbonda situation is sorted. If Benayoun is staying we don't need a right midfielder as Bowyer can cover there if not suspended. We deffinatly need to sign a quality centre midfielder sooner rather than later. Now Pompey are giving up on Petrov we should steam in there.Malbranque would be another excellent addition but maybe that has gone by the way?I read the Swedish keeper was available for £1.5m and Charlton where sniffing, now that would be a great signing.Lets see how Roeder likes it and put a bid in for there young centre half Stephen Taylor(he is good). My friend works at Heathrow and was looking after the team when they flew to Sweden and naturally being a good Hammer he questioned AP.AP stated absolutley no way is Ashton going anywhere, nor any of our players, but was adamant about Ashton! He has had several bids accepted but players want to much and he is not paying OTT prices for players. He also said do not expect West Ham to do as well this season as last season far exceeded everyones expectations. Finally he has money but they are not going to spend it all or get into debt as in 2012 we are moving!!!
