Fab Display By Green Impresses Capello

Submitted by Neville Nixon on 26 February, 2008 - 20:34.
England manager Fabio Capello could hardly have failed to have been impressed by another imperious display in goal by Robert Green during West Ham's game against Fulham, unless he was wearing Arsen Wenger glasses! Well he must have seen something because he is due at the Boleyn to watch Hammers take on Chelsea this weekend. Ostensibly at the Cottage to watch Mathew Upson, Capello will have noticed Mark Noble as well as Green and maybe even Anton Ferdinand. Will Chelsea be a wounded animal that has a point to prove or will Hammers be able to put one over their London rivals? Ironically anything other than the unadventurous and boring but successful 4-5-1 approach that Alan Curbishley has used would be a disaster, it may not be pretty but it does work. A good show would surely fire everyone up for a rousing finale to the season, and a good show doesn't always mean a win. - Ed

I have a bit of inside info on the Tevezgate business and I know for a fact that it is bolloxs. The case was a farce in the first place and did not happen the way it was reported by the press. The fine was just to keep external people happy. Basically Kia is a gready cnut prepared to do ANYTHING for a fast buck. He was arrested in Brazil for money laundering last year! This is just a case of things being quite, so the press do what they do best and invent a story. The people that matter are not interested in the issue anymore as we are one on many clubs who have done the same thing. We were just unlucky! I hope this backfires on the w,anker

The FA already know we breached third party agreements which is why we were fined, we owned up to this when the Icelanders took over. If Kia, which I very much doubt, does have evidence then why hasn't he already given it to the FA or the Law, McBaby would be like a fat kid in a sweet shop, and if he has, won't he be done for with holding evidence. With all the legal proceeding surrounding him and his company I find anything he says very hard to believe.
Submitted by Barking Mad Steve on 29 February, 2008 - 18:40.
The allegation is that we continued to breach the rule AFTER we were fined. This is old news though, as he was claiming this just before the FA's panel sat on the appeal by SUFC, which MSI's legal team were present at. My confusion is to why he thinks he can sue us. How did they lose money by us breaching third party rules? There is more to this than we are being told. It may be a load of tosh, but I can't help thinking there is some substance to it.

Im really worried about this Tevez sega if the worst could happen what would the punishments be? ,could we still be relegated because of it?Personally i just want too see the back of the whole situation,i should imagine the reason we didnt spend n e money in January was because of this impending court writ from both Kia and Sheffield utd.On a more positive note c'mon West ham lets beat the chelsea! I think you could be right Clare. And also remember, Eggy was unceremoniously dumped at the beginning of this season and I don't think has a share any longer in West Ham either. We have never actually been told why he had to go, but maybe he did duck and dive a little too much and BG axed him and bought him out so that if the worst comes to the worst his defence will be that as soon as he found out he took action. After all, Kia has been banging on about this particular subject ever since the relegation run-in last season and the board will know exactly what evidence he has and whether it will hold up. I have to admit I don't like the look of this and will be mightily relieved if it all goes away. This nasty piece of work has blighted out club for nearly two years now and the sooner he is history the better. I hate him so much that I would love to lock him in a room with JumpJump and see how long it took for JJ's moaning to make him top himself.
Submitted by jeffhammer on 29 February, 2008 - 13:19.
Clare and Jascamp please be serious. You can always tell when Kia is lying, because his lips move!!! He hasn't produced any documents to the court it is a load of rubbish. The reason we didn't sign anyone in January is because we have a ridiculously large squad already and a wage bill £13 million higher than last season. You are both obviously very young or you would realise that papers print lies to sell copy and the Express is one of the worst of the lot. Don't lose any sleep worrying about the great big Kia monster!

Ha ha Jeffhammer, if only I WAS young, but at 48 I'm not sure I qualify. I'm just a dyed in the wool pessimist, must be 40 years of following the Hammers that does that to a man. All I was saying is that it is hard to believe the owners etc would have been quite so stupid, but if they have been then the punishment would be severe. I'm happy to bow to your realism rather than my knee jerk pessimism anyway, & hope you're right.
Submitted by jeffhammer on 29 February, 2008 - 14:54.
At 48 you are still young to me as I have been a sufferer ( I mean supporter) for 42 years now since I became a teenager. After all this time, you learn to be an optimist. I was the only one amongst my friends who felt that we had a chance of staying up last season and for once I was actually right.
Submitted by JACSCAMP on 29 February, 2008 - 12:36.
Yes, I think we WOULD be relegated if he was able to prove his case. Can't really believe he has anything up his sleeve that hasn't alreday come to light though, & assume it is just an attempt at an out of court settlement.
Submitted by Barking Mad Steve on 29 February, 2008 - 14:26.
I am a bit confused about this, surely it will be another FA arbitration and not a court of law. If we breached an FA rule on third party ownership, how does that mean MSI get compensated? If we are being sued, that is surely a legal matter, do the law courts have the power to relegate a team? I would have thought not. Could Fergy or McCabe have a hand in this, just to try and unsettle West Ham when trying to sign new players in the summer. (or old players, ie Tevez, his loan will be over at the end of the season)

I agree Barking, if it came to it I'm assuming the chain of events would be law courts first, & then if there was enough damning evidence presented there then the PL might re-open their case, with the posibility of relegation at that stage. Although as Jeffhammer says, the likelihood that Joorabchian has evidence that he has not yet presented must be remote. Still think it's more likely it is just an attempt to scare us into an out of court settlement,
Submitted by JACSCAMP on 29 February, 2008 - 12:34.
Totally agree Clare, I'm equally convinced that is one of the resaons no money was spent. Mind you, if we really have entered into verbal side agreements with Joorabchian AFTER the April Premier League judgement then we desreve whatever punishment is dished out. Surely the Chairman & board would not have been SO stupid though, knowing the type of person they were dealing with. Agree it's scary though.

Not another summer ruined with worries about the Tevez saga. Do we have anything to worry about or is this just an attempt to force West Ham into an out of court settlement. If he really does have the proof he suggests the penalties will be massive.
Submitted by Barking Mad Steve on 29 February, 2008 - 11:37.
I think if he has anything in the way of proof and offers it to a court he could get in trouble himself for not bringing it up at the arbitration where he and MSI gave evidence as a witness. You can't have it both ways.

Have a look on the o/s theres some positive news. Parker is nearly back, probably after the S***s game,Bellamy is about 3 weeks away and Dyer is back in training. Curbs is quite happy to play Sears Tomkins or Collison if necessary and considers Sears a great prospect. So JJ stop the negativity, the future is bright and I fancy us to thrash Chelski 1-0 tomorrow. Lads...Im sick of all the negative comments from certain individuals so my advice is just ignore them if they keep appearing....Yes some points are valid but its great to be in the postion we are after all the injuries we have had... Hopefully we can push as far up the table as possible and rebuild in the summer.. Rome was not built in a day and I think given time we can be a force to be reckoned with...Back five look solid...Midfield will be exciting once all the players are fit ...front two will improve once the supply gets better... a few additions in the summer and offload the dead wood and we are sorted....JJ Next time u look at ure pint its half full not half empty...COYI

jumpjump without being too rude, you are off the wall. First you talk about pretty goal keepers and now you are knocking Curbs about something that is six months premature. Just out of interest, who would you like to have as manager? And realistically bearing in mind our current squad size, what players do you want us to sign? We would all like to have a squad like Manure, but lets not walk before we can run. As for saturday, if the fans adopt your attitude then its no wonder that the players prefere playing away matches. Please try and be a bit more positive. COYI...

If i have to sit and watch boa mortae and c.cole upfront again on saturday ,football first i think i am just going to cry. That is like a sign that the game means no goals, and then fat boy comes on trudging around the pitch with a face like a slapped arse because he didnt start. can any one here chear me up because i am just desperate.

HumpChump, why don't you move to Bridgend - you'll fit right in there! If you don't like the entertainment and can't bring yourself to 'inflict' going to Upton Park on a Saturday then why not put your money where your mouth is and give up your season ticket for the rest of the season? We could auction it on here for charity? Failing that you could just go along to Upton Park, support West Ham and get on with it...or you could f*uck off and take your stinking attitude with you. Simple really.
Submitted by Deano76 on 1 March, 2008 - 08:13.
Denbigh, it's a shame you don't adopt the same attitude as you have posted here to JJ, in some of the other forums and threads, where the site is being fvcked up by certain individuals (one in particular and his entourage or alter egos) and you have become a party to it, or in the very least condone it by joining in. I can see Neville dropping his interest in this site (that already may be happening) and it disappearing into oblivion because it has gotten so very far away from things WEST HAM, it has become a shambles in other area's what a real shame that would be if the site folded
Submitted by Denbighammer on 1 March, 2008 - 15:13.
Eh? Do you want me to adopt JJ's negative attitude and can you explain how I have become 'party' to f*ucking up the site? I ask because your post is very unclear. Also, I rarely post anything that isn't West Ham related so I don't see what the problem is? If you don't like something thats been written, click somewhere else or say so and argue your point.

Have Some Faith, JJ!!!! We're gonna beat Chelsea, and we want YOUR help -- for once get behind those people you've been disappointed by: Curbs, Cole, Ashton, and the rest. If you look for the negatives, you'll see them, Try looking for the positives and praise them. See a good pass? Cheer! See a good tackle? Cheer louder. See Fat Frank blast one over the bar, laugh and sing, "Take yer blue flag and ..." Mate, we're gonna win this one; let's all get behind them. Blind Faith from the fans never did a bit of harm and mostly it does a lot of good. And there's MORE than Blind Faith behind this one. Chelsea are glum; They lost the Carlton Cup; They are having problems with their manager. Bickering in the squad. CL match next week looming. And on and on. West Ham? WE GOT NOTHIN TO LOSE. The lads will be giving everything they got. C'mon and join us and cheer them on every step of the way. It's more fun that way, I guarantee it.

It's good to see less of the verbal diatribe towards Alan Curbishley. Some fans out there want instant success just because they fork out a kings ransom to watch a game or two. I know it's expensive but it does not give you guys the right to demand we buy more players, sack AC etc. etc. He is doing alright with the players his got and when we do buy, it will be well into the summer when he can assess the current players long term injuries and buy where we need to. This team this year is about holding our own, staying in the premiership and European qualification if we can get it. AC has already done the first two now we are pushing for a European place. It wont be the end of the day if we do not qualify but I bet we get pretty close. So ...... get behind the team and the manager and help get WHUFC into Europe.

well after seeing curbs tody dissmiss the barnes link thought id just say, i knew we wouldnt buy him unless a player is injury prone or nearing the end of there game curbishly dont want them. This is exactly why i just feel we should look to bring in a technical director a lot faster than we are.

Curbs is on a 'lose lose' situation with you jj. First he's no good because he won't buy a foreigner, (even though he has) and now he's no good because he's not buying a Brit. We are months away from any transfer activity yet, you still manage to 'jump' on it as an excuse to moan about Curbs! Give him a break, you and everyone else. We get it, you don't like the manager! Ile probably get shot down for saying this, but this is just my observation and the reason Green hasnt been picked for England yet and if you read this Rob please take this on board, I think you are a fantastic goal keeper and youve proved that for us time and time again But, I have noticed alot of the time when you collect the ball, rather than compose yourself for a few seconds and then throw or kick it back out you hoof it straight away and I think that, 1. it invites possible pressure back on you straight away, or 2. ends up with the other opponents or 3. off the field giving the opponents a needless throw in, funny enough you did not do this in the last game against Fulham so maybe someone else has noticed and said something, if not please take note of this, because in my view this is the only possible reason for you not being picked for the England set up, because I think you and James should be first and second choice goal keepers PERIOD.
Submitted by Barking Mad Steve on 28 February, 2008 - 17:44.
I was looking at the Headline for this thread "Green impresses Capello" and wondering, did he impress? He didn't impress me. I thought he did OK but could have done better. Green said himself that he thought he had a "scratchy game", so I am not too sure how Neville saw a "Fab display" from him on Saturday. He did make a great save though which made all the difference to the result.
