This site - degenerating into farceSubmitted by Denbighammer on 18 March, 2008 - 21:53.
This site has slid into a farcial shadow of its former self. Obviously, being a public forum you can never be certain of 'who you are talking to' but this ridiculous trend of established, regular users setting up 'alter egos' is so tedious and means proper posts are lost in a sea of rubbish which is basically one pillock arguing with himself under 2,3or4 different names! If people don't want to respond to a post, pretending to be someone else is pretty f*ucking sad. If life is so empty that you have to chat 'amongst yourself', may I suggest that those involved get a life and do something else before the last ounces of credibility this website has finally slide down the gurgler. If there is nothing to say, nothing to talk about - don't say anything. Simple. Do people agree with me or am I over-reacting?

I agree the whole alter ego
I agree the whole alter ego business was puerile and tedious, but generally I find the site, light hearted and amusing as well as informative. My own complaint would be that people don't actually read the topics and then answer out of context.

I watched this site with interest over the summer last year - looking for transfer news and the like and only a month or so ago did i decide to actually get involved a bit. I've been a West Ham fan since i was knee high to a high knee but haven't been to a game in years - i've just never had the time; i live in Ipswich which isn't too far away and West Ham are either well supported up here or hated due to the fact that we knocked Ipswich out of the play-offs on a number of occasions - why they can't hate their own players for playing crap i don't know...anyway, my point is that this site gives us Hammers fans a chance to vent our opinions, frustrations, anger at what happens at and to our club; if people want to go far enough to create alter ego's and start arguing with themsleves then it's really up to them - i just ignore it and take out the good bits that i need to read and there are quite a few people who speak common sense on here - I wouldn't take it too seriously if i were you Den...just enjoy it for what it is...a bunch of individuals with a common passion.
I completely agree with u KP,although i haven't been a member 4 long i would feel lost with out this site.It does help that u can voice ur concerns and speak 2 fellow wh fans who may agree with ur views or in some cases don't.West ham till i die!CJ

It would be a shame if this site did fade away, I still enjoy it but can see why a growing number get irritated. To be honest I like to make my comments if I have any and also have a laugh when appropriate but try not to let it be at anyone's expense unless I know they know I'm having a laugh. I still believe there are a number of good passionate Hammers that come on here and for me living in the North East being able to chat to fellow Hammers is what counts. There seems to be too many personnel battles going on where unfortunately the outcome seems to be that's it I'm off. Surely there are enough posters on here where you can choose to ignore ones that wind you up or you don't like. Keep the faith Friends, remember we are all West Ham and hopefully we all have the same desire that our club moves forward.
Right behind you on this one Den. I was just going back through some earlier posts and thinking how sensible some of the debates were. Heres one for example. http://www.westhamfans.org/forums/west-ham-united/current-season/is-curb...
Unfortunately we have lost some good posters here and other(s) are here just waiting to stir trouble. Like you I have suggested myself that some people need to get out a bit more. But then, unlike being hidden behind a computer monitor you could end up with a thick lip or so in real life. I'd like to see certain people mock a Binman to his face for example.
I would never mock a binman to his face but I would an estate agent and somebody who feels the need to tell us he drives a Porsche. Nor would I mock a miserable short arsed git to his face, largely because I would be talking over his head unless I sat down. I think the point is that some people are intent on attacking certain posters ALL of the time, firing off cheap shots whenever they can, more often than not to others of the same ilk, rather than directly at the individual concerned. As one who has run away and hid, trying to lure others off to your own site Dave, I don't think you are in any place to talk, do you? Where is that apology by the way? Very sad when you can't admit to being wrong even when it has been proved!
That fella called 'anonymous' must have been the original 'alter ego'... See Dave, it's been happening for years!
I agree Den. I've got confused a few times when you see the name of a regular poster slightly altered ranting on. It's tough to follow some good threads when they are littered with pointless drivel by imposters. Hopefully it'll get stamped out and those responsible will realise that there are more interesting things to discuss!
