All I've heard banded around on here for months now is "I'll be happy as long as we finish above tottenham". Is there anyone who can actually explain to me what the eff eff* it matters if we finish higher or lower than s*urs? So lets forget everything bad about this season and all shout from the rooftops that we might finish higher than tottenham...i'm sorry but to my mind its absolutly mindless...who gives a eff eff* where tottenham finish...Pardon me for not getting excited if all i've got going into the summer is bragging rights over Spuds fans...wopedee f*cking doo...lets see who finishes next year!

Unfortunately the way the backend of our season panned out this rather pathetic goal of wanting to finish above the spuds is all we have left. I hope next year to finish above many other teams and not just the spuds...It would'nt really bother me if they finished above us if we were 4 or 5 places higher but for this term it'll have to do...Forever blowing bubbles..Isaac..
What's wrong with wanting to finish above any other of the 19 teams in the prem, especially one who are bitter rivals? If it wasn't for rivalry in the game it wouldn't be so exciting; travelling with the away fans and giving stick to the opposing fans on their own manor is a fantastic part of supporting your club, who ever that happens to be. Tottscum are hated by most West Ham fans (in the footballing rivalry sense) that’s why our derby matches are so good, I thought all of that went without saying to West Ham SUPPORTERS, we are the tottscum haters……….
You have missed the point of the post. The point is that success is being measured in an absurd way. Finishing above Tottenham is masking the ineptitude of our performance this season. And as I say below, they don't give a toss cos they have actually won something! "We are the tottscum haters" because we are jealous of them! Do we hate Orient?

My personal reason is the fact that all the Spud fans i have ever spoke to or had the unfortunate pleasure of having to work with, are by far the most arogant self involved and totally blinkerd fans that walk this planet. This season has been toilet, although better than last in regards the position we are in. It's all we have left to salvage from the season and I think it would be great to finish above the spuds. Remember the four nil game and they were chanting lets all laugh at west ham.

It does matter to a lot of people, the reason might be financial or just pride as they our nearest Prem rivals and many of us know, live next to and work with or are even related to S***s fans! However, I'm sure it's a contextual thing. We have nothing else to play for. Apart from the odd 'odd' soul, I'm sure everyone would much rather us be fighting for a European position, but that hasn't been our case for months now. It's not a barometer of fans expectations for next season. Like you said, let's see what happens next season.
I'm with you on this one Basil, and no-one has given me a sound reason for some peoples inordinate hatred of Tottenham. Millwall I can get my head round and also Chelsea, as most decent fans want it to be known that you can't just BUY success. Tottenham? very strange. But as it happens, I do have a monetary reason with a couple of Spud work colleagues for finishing above them. And that's the only reason.
I dont think any1 is extremely proud to say this season we fiished above S***s but seeing as this season has been so crap crappy klint then it does give us one last thing to do.. I will still say i hope we beat villa and keep S***s in the bottom half of the table.

I dont see a reason that so many people think its that important that we finish above tottenham, it seems pretty embarrasing to me that the majority of people will go round at the end of the season (if we finsih above tottenham of course) giving it the large one because we finished a couple of points above a team who are our so called rivals, why? just because they're another london club? To me it rather reaks of desperation just for a bit of a bragging right, doesn't it seem childish and a bit petulent to you?
