players in our current squad who MUST staySubmitted by timleech on 8 May, 2008 - 17:55.
to be a success next season and to build a squad that can progress in coming seasons, i would definitely make sure to hold on to these players:
Green, Stech, Pantsil (he is very underrated and he tries so hard), Anton (will be one of the best defenders in the premiership in a few years), Upson, Tomkins, McCartney, Parker, Faubert, Dyer, Noble, Collison, Sears, Ashton, Bellamy (if fit), Zamora. Our squad should be build around these players in the next few seasons. REMEMBER, WE ARE NO LONGER A SELLING CLUB!! we must hold on to our best young talent

im intersted to read the differing opinions on paintsil. i think he is very underrated and like old skool pete i think he will improve with a run of games. he looked impressive in the ghana team in the winter. maybe sears could do with a loan spell in the championship..he definitely needs to grow a bit before he can become a real premiership force. i also think that marek stech could be given a go next season as greens understudy. opinions?

I would keep Green, Upson, Parker, Faubert and Ashton for the first team and squad players, Anton, Tomkins, Gabbs, Spector, Mccartney, Noble, Matty, Bellamy and sears. The rest are not good enough if we are to progress.
Players that i want to stay untill there Football Career is over (unless they preform disgracefully soon).... GREEN, TOMKINS, UPSON, PARKER, NOBLE, ASHTON, SEARS.
Paintsil? Do me a favour, he's a joke player- guaranteed to do something to make you roar with laughter at least once a game (usually clattering someone clumsily) but not good enough for the Premier League.
I have to disagree with you Den, Pants isn`t the best but he has enough quality to be in the squad @ the moment, he plays with his heart on his sleeve & his work~rate is immense, I like him, he`ll give anything a go & you can see he Loves playing for Westham. He makes mistakes, granted, but I reckon given a good run of games the boy will come good, plus the fact he Does entertain the crowd!!! John Pantsil, Woooo, John Pantsil, Woooo, He Came From Africa, He`s Better That Kaka, John Pantsil. . . COYNotReallyThatGoodButWeLoveYaIrons
Yes, credit where credit is due, perhaps your cap obscured your view when he was marking Tomkins as Ronaldo stood behind him and scored the second goal on Saturday! Quality stuff! The Manure fans were highly entertained!
That`s what I love about you Fanny, you totally didn`t take on board the "He makes mistakes but give him a run of games & he`ll get better" part of my post!!! You take what you need from a post to twist it & try to make the postee you`re replying to look a twat, you`re quite clever @ it, but Sooo transparent. You really have nothing nice to say about ANYONE do you, tell me have you always been this bitter & twisted or is it something that creeps up on you, like dementure??? It`s a shame you`re like this Fanny as I love reading your posts, your quick wit is second to none but, unfortunatly, it`s equalled by your blinkered venom!!! COYDontGetItTwistedIrons

I agree, pantsil is so underated. I think he is a right mid player, he is probably our best crosser of the ball. Give him a run in the team, and i think he will turn out to be really good.
Sears needs to go out on loan, toughen him up a bit, give him a few good dinners an all, build him up a bit, Is he on solids yet??? ;)
I agree with you but don't forget Ferdinand and Green.CJ
