both of these players have been told they can leave liverpool in the summer and i think they're worth thinking about. i know mccartney has made the lb position his own this year and i know kewell is extremely injury prone but i think they're a step up from boa morte and mccartney

I'd be worried that Riise is past his best - def no to Kewell - although it would be someone new for Dyer to talk to in the medical room.

Kewell no, but I would love to see Riise in the claret and blue. He could always play left midfield when ljungberg and etherington get injured next season. His shot power is just amazing.

Riise is awesome. He would definitely be well worth signing. West Ham Till I Die!!!

I'd take Riise, but Kewell would be a bit of a risk as he seems to be even more injury prone than the players we have got already that many people seem to be moaning about. Personally, I would give Pooey Luis The Spanish Archer and make the left wing position Freddie L's own, despite many other's opions, I think he is still a quality player and gives us something a bit different and make the cut backs on all that dead wood that we seem to be lumbered with because getting rid of Freddie would be a step backwards.

I made a joke about kewell on the latest news page, but as an Aussie who's seen him play a lot, I can tell you that when he was fit, he was a dangerous, attacking, creative left side winger who could score goals and make good crosses. But it's a long time (since the world cup) since we seen the best of 'im. He'd be a big risk, no doubt about it. And how would the fans react to that? He was booed at the Pool. Would it be different at upton park? Riise scores the odd goal, he's got a strong, decisive kick, but I think he's waning too.

In my view Downing is one of the best left wingers in teh prem. A great free kick taker and can deliver a ball perfectly to the head of a striker. Deano would have a great season is we had a winger like Downing with him.. If iw as curbs id offer 12 mill for him and that will solve the left side for a while.. he still has the best years to come... But it looks as thoguh he loves boringborough and if S***s coudlnt get him i doubt we can.. But hes deff better then kewell. Million times better.

I would try to sign Riise. I we want to improve the squad we need 2 decent lb's. Dont sign Kewell we already have to many injury prone players. Downing isnt a player goes past another player with pace but he surely can cross a ball. Think he could deliver some assists to Deano. Everyone is better than LBM.

sorry mate i think mccartney has been one of the players of the year this year.kept injury clean and has made that position his own.not sure if riise is as anywhere near as good as him.and as for kewell,we have freddy.i think the excact same player.injured for half a season..what about downing??

Downing is the best of a bad lot at Middlesbrough. The football is boring and I think adding Downing to our squad would make us more boring than we already are. We are a club with wingers and Downing is a left sided player but not a winger. He doesn't take people on and is exposed BIG TIME when he plays aganst larger teams. I think he's so overrated...Oh yeah agree with your Kewell and Risse statement though. Phippsy
