Would you take another 0 - 4 defeat if it meant Curbs gets sacked?

All the board members including the entire Icelandic consortium are attending the Villa match tomorrow as there over for a board meeting on Monday. The $64m question is, would you take on the chin another 0-4 hammering if it meant that Curbs gets the sack even if meant S***s finish ahead of us in 10th?

its a no brainer --- and it pains me to say it but yes - i hope villa win tomorrow because quite simply unless the icelandic lads get a taste of the current distaste of the fans towards the management hel trust the clunt with 20m to go and buy players like michael kightley from wolves ...... FFS curbishley just spells out mediocrity......don't get me wrong im west ham through and through and hate to see us lose and it often leaves me depressed and on the floor accompanied with manier beer bottle , but for the benefit of the club i love , one more loss to see the back of the clown in charge , in my eyes is worth it .....

I would accept whatever eventuality. I don't like Curbs and want him to go but if he shows more and more glimmers of playing good football, a 4-0 win would be nice, then I'd be happy for us to go forward. It's petty to want our team to be humiliated. Phippsy

no for fu.ck sakes give the poor guy a break yeah. he managed to bring in what id say some pretty good players considering the position we was in whether that was high wages or what, weve still done it, weve gone forward. next season should be the guys clean slate, he got us from a relegation team up to a mid table team, next season mid table team up to top 6 team. if he cant do it then hes not good enough. hes managed to turn us into a mid table team with hardly any of the players hes signed, all his planning using dyer, faubert, bellamy and parker he couldnt do and work with consistently coz of the injury situation. only 2 players from the whole squad have played a part in every game which shows we cant put out a team that can learn to play together let alone the full strength team with the players he has bought. i really do think he will surprise the majority of you next season if he gets the chance which i think he deserves. ok after 3 4-0 defeats i wanted him sacked but who wouldnt i was so p1ssed off. so no, ofcourse i dont want my team to lose let alone 4-0!!! well win tomorrow, and give the guys a good send off a back them rearing to go in their return to upton park next season. COME ON YOU IRONS!!!

I'd love for Curbs to prove me wrong next season and leave me eating my words. Only time will tell if he's the right man for the job. I don't think he is but we should have sacked him back in February and got a new guy in to assess and evaluate. Leave him there for now and pray the guy gets a full squad to choose from next season. We'll see if he can cut the mustard then! As for wanting to lose 4-0 again, no chance. I've seen enough hammerings for us this season to last me a lifetime. Be nice the sign off the season costing Reo-choker a place in Europe and the fans heading into summer with a big smile on their faces. Me, I'm gonna finally catch up on some well earned sleep over the coming months. Euro08 is not worth the effort of getting up at crap hours to watch teams I don't care about. Here's a question for you Del, Dutch and Co... Let's say Curbs plays a near full strenght team including Upson and Anton at the back, Ethers on the left, Faubert on the right and Zammo and Deano up front. We play for 90 minutes like the first 40 against the Toon and West Ham WIN 4-0, would you lay off Curbs for the Summer?
Submitted by Themanfromdelmonte on 10 May, 2008 - 19:19.
One swallow don't make a summer. We played very well at Pompey, Citeh & Everton away and these are games we should have won had Curbs switched to 3 at the back and went for the jugular, but he just doesn't have that attacking mentality preferring safety first as demonstrated at OT last week. Mark Noble is an example of Curbs utilitarian style as all attacking instincts have been squeezed out of him. IMO The team that almost won the FA cup was better as was the team that beat Man U on the last day of last season to stay up. We had more power and flair then.Leaving aside Upson, Parker & Faubert, £30m+ has been squandered on ageing injury prone players that have very little or no sell on value, but who will milk the club dry through excessive wages. Has been Ljungberg has scored 4 goals in 2 years, Bellamy is a nutter or should I say putter and probably would have caused disruption had he been asked to play wide right or left out of the side and Dyer has flattered to deceive for years. Ask yourself this, would any of these players signed if we hadn't lured them with top dollar wages? S***s Villa & Pompey have all recruited younger less injury prone and more athletic players with a sell on value with many new signings citing the manager's as the reason for signing. There in a nutshell is the difference.

No because performance is based over the season and not one game. 40 mins against Newcastle doesnt make a season, and the game ended 2-2 so not sure yr point is valid. Curbs will not take us any further, he signed too many injury prone hasbeans and has to take responsibility for the injury crisis and our dire performances this season.
Submitted by Apache Indian Hammer on 10 May, 2008 - 12:00.
The point that I was trying to make was that short of Bellamy and Dyer, that's pretty much a full strenght team. We'd then have an indication as to whether or not Curbs would play 'The West Ham Way' with the right team and whether 'his' team can take on a Euro spot contendor. As manager of course he has to take 'responsibility' for our injuries, but that is different from 'blame' and I personally believe this has been a freak season for injuries, partly based on the fact that he had an excellent record with Charlton for injuries (although Del will vociferously disagree!).
Submitted by isaac on 10 May, 2008 - 11:34.
There in lies the big unanswered dilemma Apache..he has never not once this season been able to play anywhere near his first choice full strength team. We are judging a man on shaky evidence. The flip side of this is that the players you mention and who would be our first choice cutting edge are A.The ones that are injured and most quite seriously ..B. Most of these are Curbs. purchases..Is Curbs just unlucky or a real Jonah..For me if the board are serious about change and have someone of real quality in mind then so be it but change for change sake is wrong and give the man a chance if it all unravels even with his first choice 11 then lets stick the boot in not now when he's down...
Submitted by isaac on 10 May, 2008 - 10:45.
Irrespective of the result against Villa I think Curbs. and co's fate at WHU has probably already been decided at board level . The appointment of Nani is an indication to me that the board are looking beyond Curbs. As for succesors I do not have the foggiest I just hope we do not appoint a young dynamic but inexperienced manager (see.Pards & Roeder) to cut his teeth on us. Curbs. is dull and uninspirational but he does exactly what it says on the tin...guarantees premiership footy, I would like a manager that can deliver this along with entertainment and belief..not going back to the yo-yo days (Pards & Roeder) and out of this Charltonesque era....Isaac..

Quite a mixed bag in that post Isaac, if we could get the blend you mention, it would mean top 5/6 football on a regular basis; and therein lies the dilemma, but the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first few wobbly tentative steps

NO! I never wish on my team to lose. I love this club and I don't care who the manager is I will always back him as long as he is at the club. You can't judge Curbs yet. You can only judge him when he has all the players back fit so he can prove that he is a decent manager and prove that most of his signings are right for this club. Also you can't expect too much from the likes of Bellamy and Dyer when they come back. When they come back they will have a few niggling muscle injury's because they haven't played for so long. Just look at how long it has taken Deano to come back and I still don't think he is 100% fit. Why don't people stop judging Curbs on this season and do it next season when he will have all the players back from injury. BTW I don't like Curb at all but I will back him as long as he is West Ham Utd's manager.

If it was guaranteed that if we lost 4-0 then he would be sacked, then i would happily watch us lose. For those people who are slating you for suggesting wanting West Ham to lose, could be questioned about weather they want what is best for the club. Our manager is clueless and has taking us as far as he can, and clearly the club will have a better chance of progression under someone else.
Submitted by Aycliffe Hammer on 10 May, 2008 - 10:34.
How can you say he has taken us as far as he can, not once this season has he been able to field the team he would have liked. I don't know if Curbs is the long term option and never particularly wanted him in the first place but am prepared to give him a bit more time. Outside of our club Curbs is looked on as doing a decent job this year so I would imagine a lot of potential candidates would be rather put off joining our Club with our current fickle support!
Submitted by DUTCHAMMER on 10 May, 2008 - 11:48.
Whos fault is it that we bought so many injury prone players in one transfer window? Dyer, Freddie, Bellamy and Parker all have a poor performance record over the last few years so why waste big money on all of these in one window? Resonsibilty has to lie with the manager. He is clueless in the transfer market and an old school manager and cannot see any big name foreigners being attracted to come and play for him. Hence the reason i think he has taking us as far as he can.
Submitted by Aycliffe Hammer on 10 May, 2008 - 12:15.
Some may prove to be dodgy signings but along with Curbs I will give them all a bit of time to shine. As someone else has pointed out at least he was capable of attracting them in the first place but yes on on big money. If you listen to an interview Curbs gave recently he admits he needs help in the foreign transfer market and that is why Nanni was fetched in. Time will tell but for now give the bloke a break!

I just hope that BG&Co have already made their decisions on this season and what should be done about our future. If the result of one game could make their minds up either way then i wouldn't have much faith in them. No the only 4-0 i want is in our favour, lets at least go out with a good win.

Are we forgetting what and who we support these days? no funny enough i want West ham to win ,funny as that may sound.I support my club and as Curbs is in charge i will support him as i do the players.Ive always maintained that our supporters are the best but that means supporting the team through thick and thin which 2 be really honest alot of our fan's arnt doing. We had a season of instabilty last season and were bloody fortunate to stay up,this season as we all knew would be to stabilise our club, the fan's getting onto Curbs and players backs dosent help a jot.Lets sing our hearts out tomorrow and sing im forever blowing bubbles with pride.CJ

Clare love your positivity, but you need to get real. We have only won 7 home matches all season and teams below us have won more at their place scored more goals and played better football. Our form since February is relegation form. This can't be blamed on injuries as we have had them all season. It is down to tactics and not having a happy united dressing room. The buck stops with the manager!

Oi mister, you can't have it all ways ~ If we beat Villa we finish above the Lillyshytes. I have £200 riding on us finishing above them so lets all think positive as life wouldn't be worth living if the unmentionables took our 10th berth. Hopefully the players will be up for it too given that their bonuses don't kick in if we finish below 10th. Come on Curbs get the boys to produce the same magic they did against the Toon for 90 minutes against Villa instead of 40! ~~~~ Del look at Villa's form it is in the desendancy and who did they just get tonked 2 nil at home to? They are there for the taking: 3 - 1 to the cockney boys. The toffees got the Toons at home at Goodi Park the fifth spot is theirs, the Villians got nowt to play for. COYI

I'm beginning to wonder whether you actually do, this is the 2nd time you've posted this crap. For Gods sake we all know you don't like Curbs but go to the ground and support your team or don't bother going. Curbs fate may already be decided but I would love him to turn it around and at the moment he is West Ham manager so I will continue to support him.

Relax Aycliffe, I always want West Ham to win and have money on us finishing above S***s. The facts are if you took your claret & blue specs off, our results since Feb despite staying 10th which papers over the cracks is RELEGATION FORM. This has nothing to do with injuries as we have them all season , but everything to do with tactics and having a happy united dressing room. The buck stops with the manager. If you read all the fanzines, sites, listen to Phone In's speak to fellow disaffected West Ham supporters at the ground on the tube and in the pubs the vast consensus don't like Curbs. That is why there is no feel good factor around and the atmosphere is like a morgue at UP. It has come to the crunch with a board meeting planned for Monday and my forum matches similar ones on other sites so get real my friend!

Well Del your thread has certainly worked in getting me going which takes some doing as I normally read, digest then reply calmly. I do understand your frustrations with this season and in particular Curbs tactics at times. I have stood at Sunderland & Bolton recently wondering what the hell was going on. Like I have said plenty of times he was never really my Man to start with but have always wanted to give him a fair crack once he was installed. For the time being we will have to agree to disagree but I must apoligise for stating you post was crap, you are one of the main contributors in what I think is still a decent site. One thing we can agree on I hope is 3 points to the Hammers tomorrow. COYFiredupIrons!

Aycliffe as well as being Lord of the Manor, your a gent. I am glad you see where I was coming from. I have a feeling that if we can match the way over 90 mins we played the Toon for 40,we should win tomorrow as Villa like Newcastle don't shut up shop.
