MLS All Stars v West Ham live on Setanta. Those Setanta people are having a giraffe. They've put their prices up by 25p a week!!! Now do I continue my subscription or shall I go for Sky? Such a quandary.

Jack, I've got Sky fitted and it still costs me a tenner a month for Setanta- I believe Setanta is free with Virgin (formerly NTL).

I'm not messing at all. Setanta costs me a tenner a month and I'm not tied up to a contract. Whats the minimum contract you need with Sky before you get Setanta? And I really mean England not Ireland. Sorry mate but no way will I ever be mug enough to pay for Sky. Far cheaper to watch what I want on Sky down my local.

With Sky you do have to pay a subscription fee of a couple euro a month not a lot and I think it's worth it. Over here in Ireland Setanta is good because they show a lot of the Magner League Munster and Leinster matches and it also shows a lot of the Hurling and Football senior county league and championship that are very important to people over here. If you drink quite a bit it will actually cost you more in your local. Say if you have 5 pints that would be about €15 and thats only for one day. That is around the price for the Sky package that my family have and it's only about €10 more for Setanta.

So you pay a couple of Euro a month which equals approx £1.50 here. The minimum start fee for Sky here is 20 Euro and thats just for the tripe, no Sports at all.Setanta in Ireland is a different ball game to England mate. Prices aren't even comparable. And don't start me off on the prices of your beer. I'd go teetotal at those prices.

I must be one of those mugs Dave, trouble is that I have had it for so long now that like everything else it will be hard to give up. I do enjoy their coverage of Sport in general and SKY plus is a wonderful piece of equipment but it is getting expensive. I have just received a letter this week saying that the full package is going up another couple of quid a month. The Missus regularly says cut down the package or get rid of it. My answer has been that she would go first and I have the full backing of my kids LOL.

Lol. Nothing personal Aycliffe. I don't think Sky is getting expensive. I think it's always been expensive.Or more to the point, a lot of money for what you get. For sure if I could just have Sports 1 and 2 I'd probably take a look at it. But I cant. I have to pay up for a complete package of tripe and repeats before I can get those channels. To be honest, with the Digital TV I already have enough tripe and repeats and they are all free. I pays my tenner a month for Setanta and I gets my Premier Football. I also get Blue Square footy too which I really enjoy. And if I get the ache with it I pay a month up and opt out.No yearly contract to worry about. Ok theres the argument my mates with Sky put up that Sky gets all the best games. Do they? I s'pose you do if you're a Man Utd or Chelsea fan. I lost count of the number of times they were shown. And then comes the smack in the mouth with the PPV. I'm sorry but as long as punters are prepared to pay those charges then Sky will continue to (IMO) rip them off. Each to their own mate, each to their own. I've just done a recce of the Sky package and It would work out at £44 a month for me not including my licence fee and Setanta. I just can't justify paying that to sit and watch TV. I'd rather go down the local. I'm not a heavy drinker so its far cheaper and more enjoyable with the banter. And football or no football I'd probably have been down there on a Saturday evening anyway.

Dave, Sky & Setanta have just released their fixtures up until December and they don't make good reading for some of us away Supporters. A number of games I had picked out to go to this season West Brom, Hull & Sunderland are all being shown on a Monday night, kick off 8PM! This is great when you have Kids that need to be at school next day and what time will those living down South get home. Looks like I might have to open up Aycliffe Manor's stables so that Pete, Bully, Isaac & Co can bunk down for the night!!
