Ayew

seems so long ago now that we overlook the fact that he as our big summer signing last year. most people think he's not up to it, the 20 mill paid was too much. perhaps it was. although looking at how the market is nowadays, you can argue thats the price of a prem league player these days. for me i believe in Ayew. I think he is a quality player. i think he was a good signing. I'm open to debate of course and everyone's opinion is welcome. my view is that last season he moved to a new club but then got injured immediately on his debut. it wasnt just a knock either, he was out a good while. then he went off to ANC and looked half injured there. he still managed a good few goals though during the second half of the season. its my view that he has the energy and eye for goal that will prove useful for us this season. i see him playing behind hernandez in the three (lanzini, arnautovic and him) while antonio is out. when antonio is back then its a case of playing him when we need to rest others or replace them i guess. either way, i can see him being an asset even if coming off the bench.

we clearly overpaid for him thats not his fault the problem is bilic just does not seem to no where best to play him...wide left wide right behind striker up alongside striker for heavens sake slav your paid good money to solve problems like this get your finger out because this man can be an asset

I don't think we over paid for ayew but I do think bilic doesn't know how to use him or fit him in. Trouble is it's a reoccurring thing with bilic. This season we will see what kinda clue he has, I'm guessing he will be as clueless as last season. Even zaza could have been better if used properly in a two upfront.

Adequate and nothing more. The price was ridiculously high, but that aside he is nothing more than an average player. Personally, if it were down to me, I'd be looking to cut my losses.

At the very least, I think he's better than Snodgrass. If there's really someone we overpaid for, it's Snoddy. I accept the arguments about Ayew's injury and its effect on his season. I do think we overpaid in terms of last season's going rate, but not much if at all by this season's going rate, and it's this season that I hope he proves himself. What still worries me about Ayew is whether this season he will actually score on most of his chances. He gets in space and earns a chance enough for me, but that double ricochet off the post last season was symbolic of a certain futility associated with Ayew. He's one I would LOVE to see come good, and I'm willing to give him a chance. (Doesn't mean that Martinez can't earn that place: competition is good!)

In all honesty he has not been one of my favourite signings. May have been unlucky with the injury but never set anything alight...Watched him in ANC too and he was absolutely crap. If yer playing for your country the sleeve should be where the heart is. He must have been wearing cap sleeves. Don't get me going on Snodgrass. How that bloke has even featured in the friendlies in beyond me. But hey ho, it's only my opinion and we are all entitled, right...

One week to go COYI
