Coaching Team

Just to give an opportunity to break from the monotony of the striker theme, what do people thinking about our coaching staff? I sit very close to the bench on match days and Chris Woods and especially Julian Dicks don't say or do anything. Now maybe they do a lot more at training but I get the feeling not. I feel that Dicks especially is totally token gesture. That's fine if you're successful, but he's taking the place of someone who might add something. Jurcevic is basically to Slav what Phil Neal was to Graham Taylor. Then we've got a 35 year-old first team coach who played a bit of lower league. Where's the debate? Where's the other opinion coming from? Surrounding yourself with a load of yes men is great if it all goes well, look at Conte and Mourinho but not if you're struggling

he has big problems but like you say who dares mention anything on matchdays steve bould just sits there picking up his cheque why rock the boat so why would our coaches be any different or maybe they have offered a diff point of view keep getting knocked back so become disenchanted and think why bother if he wont listen....get roy keane in there will be a bit more debate on the coaching side....

Obviously you don't want an assistant manager or coaches that are negative or disruptive, but they do need to offer an alternative view. Maybe ideas to bonce off each other. I'd say woods' job is specialised and obviously only comes into play from a keepers point of view. After working with them in the warm up he won't have much to do during the match. Dicks seems to offer absolutely zero, can't help thinking he is just a figure head. One of the biggest worries is bilics lack of a defined clear plan of how he wants the team to set up and play.

It worries me that Julian Dicks is apparently in charge of crossing and shooting drills. We should re hired sheringham and got Rio on board. Most clubs have multiple specialised coaches. At least the medical room looks to be getting a much needed overhaul

about Dicks and it is a strange one....Rio slav did not want help from and considering the shape we were in it was another strange decision...sherringham as well is another good shout but seemingly he again would probably spoil slavs little group of friends.players need to respect and buy into what the manager and coaches are trying to get them to do but clearly on more than one occasion last season they did not and like a few people on here i have my worries over keeping the same group together but bilic has made that decision so it is a wait and see again.

is hope that lessons have been learned and this coming season sees the squad better prepared and hopefully with Lewin now onboard we can get to grips with the terrible injury list we seem to have each year

If Rio and sheringham were on the coaching staff they would just get a lot of respect from the players based on what they have achieved in football which is far more than anyone else on the coaching side. Bilic has had minimal success but the rest have done diddly squat so maybe the players don't respect them? It would certainly explain a lot. The coaches have to get it right from the off next season no excuses, it's gona be a tricky start and we can't be left wanting due to bad preseason preparation

Ill go a few games next season as usual, but i just dont have the same feel for it as i used to....
Too much money in the game, poncey primma-donna players, who have billy big bollocks attitudes from a very young age!! Where are the working class heroes!!
Also the move has changed our club beyond recognition, ive no problem with people who prefer the new stadium, but for me the sense of community side of uppers cant be rectified at the new place...
As i said ill go a few games cos its my team, but the interest is waning...

All I can add is that I think the same approach should apply to coaching as it does to players: you should constantly be trying to improve. That means either the coaches you have get better at what they do, or you bring in new coaches who are better. Same goes with the manager. IMPROVE OR MOVE.
