Jesus H Christ a cracking game ,how do these guys do it on a fraction of the wages of footballers

As a proud englishmen im gutted that england are out but fair play to the aussies who were by far the better team tonight.England are out of the tournament because they underestimated the passion of the welsh last week! But what can you say about rugby-do you ever see these big, hard players ever argue with the ref about decisions?puts football to shame i believe.Years ago i would always watch england at football over rugby, not nowadays....(but the hammers are my first & last love over anything, but dont tell the missus or my children!!;)

We lack it but Southern Hemisphere Teams don't, and that's a fact and why we lost.

Spot on antkb, I said it last week we lost because we were so indisciplined we gave away far too many penalties. We played Wales off the park but lost because we allowed them to keep In touch through their penalty kicking. Watched my local side today smashing into each other a woman ref and not even a murmur to her it's about the same level in rugby as Southend is in football. Gone off football for rugby since Sam only interest in West Ham now

England have been a disappointment this tournament, after all the media build up.I think it is just a case of lack of quality ,past England teams would have slaughtered this sideUltimately the coach, Lancaster, must carry the can, with a contract until 2020,makes you wonder whether he will see it through.

I don't hate rugger, although I did hate it when I was forced to play at school for 5 years: I wanted to play football all the time! :-)

But in a way I'm glad we are out: radio5live has been obsessed with it to the exclusion of almost everything else!

I thought we were made to look very poor and slow last night by an Australian team with one of the best flyhalfs in the game, they attacked and defended with such pace and support last night it was incredible and I didn't think they'd keep that up for 80 mins but they somehow managed it, never have been a fan of Lancaster, I think we need the return of Woodward, we haven't been consistent since he left

Strange that I thought after the six nations we had a reasonable chance of a cup final place but everything Lancaster has done since seems to have unravelled the whole squad and team. For me there are question marks over both youngs Ben and Tom being good enough to be starters, Lancaster hasn't trusted his fly half after him seeming to be the man. Our 2 centres have gone from an area that was picking itself a couple of years ago to playing Owen Farrell in it! To me it looks like Lancaster has destroyed his own team by not making clear discisions. Still not sure what wigglesworth has ever contributed of any worth to England but still gets a place above Danny care.

Yeah I agree mate, after the attacking performances in the six nations I thought we were witnessing a new brand of English rugby just in time for the World Cup, unfortunately we've looked very ordinary and as you say some strange selection choices in the backs which doesn't help the team gel. I could understand playing Burgess to counteract Robertson in the Wales game but moving Farrell to centre last night was a strange one, hats off to Australia though, on that evidence they'll take some beating, great fitness levels as well
