Submitted by Red Neck Iron on Tue, 05/07/2016 - 14:50

Jack Sullivan has annouced one of our own Mr James Tomkins has tied up his deal and now a palace player wil always respect him decent player/ decent attitude good luck James. Apparently needs first team football. Other news, both cresswell and big mick signed new contracts over the last couple of days, well done lads. Jack also said a major signing flying in this week to sign. Oh just for the record the source that first broke the Tonka news was infact ........ The daily mail! Who would have guessed?

Gutted Tomkins has left - he was definitely good enough to merit a role in the squad, even if it was a diminishing one. Feel like he will take a part of the club with him

I regret a little, it is a good player h to always done well when he was called into the field. It will be very strange to see him with another shirt. Good luck

From his point of view he wants to play games, can't blame him for that, Ogbonna, Reid and Collins seem to be before him in the pecking order, I'd expect Burke to be around the first team now and we've got Oxford as well, I wish him all the best, I think he was a decent player for us, always gave his all.

Saw a pic of him in a palace shirt today, seems weird. He didn't look comfortable in it. Having said that I'm sure we will all welcome him back when he plays.its probably the best decision for everyone involved but in the new market this year it seems cheap. Hope he does well, but not at our expense

If we want to hang onto Oxford and Burke they need space to grow. Everybody would be calling for chairmen's heads and Slav would possibly get some blame too if we lost our best prospects. I liked Tomkins but he's not world class if we want progress some other nearly men will have to go too to make way for better players.

Loyal and honest player, which shows as he accepts he won't be on the Team sheet and doesn't want to just take the pay and a bit part role. He lives round the corner from where we lived up to 8 weeks ago, and he always stopped to talk to anyone. The local women love it when he walks into Costa at Shenfield, including my Mrs........

He turned his back on a few too many shots for me last season. Especially ion the FA Cup replay against Man U. Good young player that has come through, but not at the "next level" for us. Good luck to him

I remember some of us saying that he was never going to be more than an average centre half on this forum a good few years ago and many of the so called "aficionados" on this site crying their eyes out.
£10m is the going rate for players of his type in the current climate, I'm just sorry that we didn't do a deal to get Scott Dann in part exchange.

Crazy that you think Tomkins is no better than average yet want Scott Dann whos same level as him if not slightly worse and 2 years older.

Scott Dann is one of the most solid English Centre halves out there and has been for several seasons.
In my view, regardless of his age, he's a far better option than Tomkins.
Am I "crazy"? No, I'm just expressing my opinion and that's what we come on here to do.

I'm very sorry to see him go .. But at the end of the day if we want to keep Reece Oxford the loss of Tomkins means it's time to try and get Reece Oxford involved a lot more this Season .. Having said that it's all easier said than done perhaps albeit we are "imo" indeed truly blessed to have both mentioned Quality Young Players at our Club currently !

I trust Slav knows his centre halves though. Maybe he hasnt kicked on enough and maybe the sugarhut was the last straw.

Wish him well. Shame hes joined a team whose fans think they are rock stars. Pricks.
