Make your own mind up

It's been reported that bilic has been told to take more notice of the scouting reports about our opposition! Well make you mind up if you believe that or not but I'd say it explains why there seems little tactical plans when we play a club. It all seems like he thinks that's how he is gona play regardless of who we are playing. This is possibly why he doesn't use his squad unless he HAS to, rather using the right players for the opposition.

when asked about how he sets up for opposing sides said i dont worry how they play i trust my players i let the opposition worry how we will play.....

Yes Mac but that's all very well when you have a decent team, well organised and well coached, successful and near the top of the league. We don't have any of those.

Dicks is the man's picture

Clough like many great managers had a system and game plan that he drilled into his players and who in turn executed it perfectly. They had a defined style of play, everyone knew his individual task and the team knew exactly what to do from the kick off. he also identified weakness in opponents and tweaked his team to this. in short, good managers know what they want to do and how they will achieve it. the game has changed yes, but i can still see the good managers with their defined style of play. some are organisers looking for physical advantages, some are pace hungry, looking to use pace in the counter attack, some are pressers who like the team to press the opponents, some are defensive preferring a build from the back style. its the ones who don't seem to have a style or keep changing it that worry me and Bilic falls right into that category. the thread heading is make your mind up, i think Bilic should take note. i keep harping on about it but the man is a muddle. his 'go to' system seems to be this 4-2-3-1 but theres no defined style to go with it, players are all over the place and the service to the front 1 is abysmal.

It's often said that a team reflects their manager as a person. Something I agree with. Going back to macs comment about cloughie, he wasn't a stupid coach and as it now is very much a squad game I'm sure he would realise it's futile to run his squad as an 11 rather than a 25. A premiership squads strength is in a 25 not an 11 as bilic thinks. Some teams have no choice to run it as an 11, we do.

i agree, i also think that when key players are out, he has to reassess the tactics, not just replace the players and stick to the same thing. against Man U it appeared he would've had lanzini in place of fernandez and antonio in place of ayew if they were fit, so he just sticks ayew and fernandez in to replace them using the same system. surely he realised the 11 were weaker hence he needed to do something else? I've lost all faith in his tactical know how tbh. at least allardyce boring that he was organised the team accordingly.
