Moyesy...

Im starting to really warm to him, aided by psycho they are doing the business imo...not many of us were overwhelmed by his appointment and a few of us said he had a lot to lose if it all went tits up!!but he has added belief & confidence in the likes of arnie & lanzini (who on their day could grace any top 6 side) also ogbonna, zabaletti,& noble are really starting to perform under moyes...yes ive had a moan at some of the performances but weve beaten chelsea, drawn at arsenal & the spuds, drawn at bournemouth & beaten stoke away, west brom & now a great win at huddersfield...we might just have stumbled upon a really good fit for westham at last & the important thing is he seems to really be enjoying it here..so long may it continue & well done David Moyes...

You took the words out of my mouth 65 ,in a way its unbelievable the turn around the hoof ball has gone and the head tennis precise passing out of defence a midfield general in Nobbs and as for hinge & bracket up front ,nuf said ,it would appear that our nightmare of just a few weeks ago may have diminished slightly ,l liked the commentator 's remarks on that little bit of intricate passing that led to Lanzini' s second "its like a lesson in geometry " ,something like that anyway

I feared the worst at moyes appointment, thought he would take us down, still a long way to go but yes,he's slowly winning me over, and he knows we want to see a bit of entertainment in attack and he's working on that department also, the movement leading up for lanzini first goal was magic bit of play, you can't get bored with that.

It was fabulous yesterday. But Moyes is a counter attacking manager. West Brom at home was woeful until he realised we were the home team at half time. He’s a very defensive manager, similar to Allardyce, maybe a tad more invention. But like anything, caution and analysis. I’m more interested in how he approaches a game in which we need to attack and win. Shrewsbury was his first test and he failed miserably.

lol no pleasing some. we all know hes defense first, hes not new to management. everton at home under him had a decent balance so I think we need to give him time to actually shape it the way he wants. or if hes going in june then it doesnt matter.

Like you DH I think it's still early days yet and inbetween games where we win and the counter attack works some teams make are making us look awful.
Allardyce is losing it already at Everton as he did here but Moyes is different imo and although playing a long ball game at times he does mix it more than Alladyce did and the football is slowly getting better to watch. He also seems to know the strength of players and is playing them to their strengths which Bilic did not and neither did Allardyce at times.
So maybe strengthen that midfield which is our weakest part at the moment and we should be ok. :-)

Shewsbury aside as the team was half the youth squad but if you are saying WBA was 'awful', the difference is that we won the game. Under Bilic, who I recall you were a staunch backer, we would have been 'awful' and lost. sometimes i think we demand too much. look at moyes, he's come into a situation that was made by some terrible management under Bilic and some poor decisions by the board. the team were heading straight down ala Villa style, the squad was and is unbalanced, were unfit, lacking in fight, had no shape whatsoever. he's come in and welded the defence together into a solid unit, he's figured out a shape that gets the best out of most of the players he has to use. but we still moan that the football is 'awful'? what do we want….to play expansive City style football every game and win? you can say no no don't be silly, i just want the team to attack more against the 'lesser' sides. o,k, but those lesser sides come to shut up shop, a bit like we did at city and we don't have de bruyne, sterling and aquero or players half as good in order to carve them up. we have to do it through hard work, good shape and clinical finishing.

Of course I was a staunch backer. You support the manager.
As a STH you reserve the right to watch what’s in front of you?
I’ve used my accumulated experience to judge what I think what my eyes tell me. They’re pretty good eyes.

To me, the biggest, or should I say most relevant thing that David Moyes and Sam Allardyce have in common is that they were/are the right manager at the right time for West Ham.
We are becoming a team that's not only hard to beat, but we are hard to play against for 90 minutes. If people are going to start bleating now it won't be long before we start hearing the "West Ham way" bullshit being quoted.
The manager inherited a mess and he's making a good job of sorting it out. Let him do that, because once he's done that he will start stamping his own mark on the team, and then, and only then, can anyone make a genuine judgement or criticism of the direction of the team.

I really believe that Bilic and his two assistants (not Julian Dicks though) were getting ready to leave and had lost heart. Some of our Golf Club members were staying at the same hotel as West Ham and one spoke to him about our current position. Mike told me that Bilic just shrugged his shoulders and said it they sack me we move on to the next club. It's a shame it did end like it did. So even Bilic lost it towards the end of last season and somehow lost the team.
We did look awful and continued looking awful when Moyes first came here. It's getting better now and hopefully we will be ok.
I thought Bilic was the one to take us onward and upwards but for reasons unknown he lost it big time.

I think the two biggest reasons Bilic failed was fitness and organisation. In his first season he took BFS foundations and added Payet and Lanzini and built the team around Payet. Now if you went back and watched every game of his first year instead of relying on nostalgia, there were clear issues in the team in the first year that would go unnoticed as Payet would bail us out. One of those being lack of shape and lack of defensive organisation. Once Payet left, all these things became exposed and by this point our fitness levels had already started decreasing. By the end of Bilics regime I couldn't tell you what formation we were meant to be playing in any game due to absurd lack of shape in our team which though we lost vs watford was the first thing I noticed had returned. Rumours have it also that Bilic never did any analysis on the opposition teams before the game and just completely stopped watching them.

It was also down to a complete lack of method and the lack of fitness came out of the fact that discipline within the unit of the squad was virtually zero.
His success in the first season was in my view down to the fact that the club effectively struck lucky with the signing of Puyet, Noble having a season of a lifetime and that the centre of our defence was solid.
Selling Tomkins for the money was a solid piece of business, but the replacement was an appalling deal.
It began to unravel last season and fell apart this term.
As I said previously, Moyes is the right man at the right time for us, but I never believed that Bilic was ever going to be the right man at any time.

I think alot of people underestimate how important fitness actually is in this day and age at the highest level.

The one thing I will say in David Moyes favour is that he does favour 442 but he has a football brain and the team he has inherited was unfit leaking goals and losing games where we would normally get something.
He basically has chosen to defend and it's working. Not pretty to watch but I have to agree with Lenuse and Fred what else can he do until he gets the team higher in the league, safe and perhaps then revert to his and our favoured attacking rather than defencesive football. I thought Moyes would fail here but have admitted I as wrong. Early days but he is doing ok.
