Evening all, it's been a while! It's good to see a lot of familiar people still posting on this fantastic forum, and I'm really hoping to get back into the mix on here. So a lot has happened in the past 1-2 years, including me giving up (transferring to a mate who hated his seats) our season tickets. We had good seats but there were a few bell ends in our section who I found very tedious, but the saddest part was the buzz between me and my son on a matchday seem to dissapear. Away games are a different matter, we always go to a small number each season. The day after Ollie's 16th birthday I took him to Spurs away, and we had one of the best days ever beating that lot in their own backyard, a proper football father/son experience and of epic proportions!!!

So why the subject title above you may ask? Well one being that I love the track by AC/DC, and the other reason? In January of this year I qualified as a ref, or the 'effing ref' as my lovely wife likes to call me.... I'm currently reffing in the Essex Olympian and Brentwood Sunday Leagues, and on the whole I enjoy the run out as it gives me a bit of cardio I need and it keeps me from being sad sitting in a pub drinking being negative after losing Tilly. Not that I was doing that but, it could be a very easy thing to happen so I'm keeping myself busy and giving back to the game. I already have a few funny experiences to share at some point, and I have my own opinions on how the game has changed.

I hit the sack
I've been too long I'm glad to be back

Night all and hope your all doing well

Hope you can start posting a bit more again mate. We need some of the older orgers to come back and keep this site buzzing. We have some new blood but there’s nothing like reading posts from people that are old hats and your views are always great for objectivity.

So much going on all round so I don't have as much time on me hands these days, going to try and slowly 'edge' me thoughts/comments back in :)

Good to see you still on here posting mate, and yes a large number of supporters struggled with the new stadium. For me it was a mixture of reasons but not our view as that was really good. We had front row above the away fans at Upton Park and the experience of Oliver growing up and learning the banta in close proximity to the chicken run was never going to be replicated.

Thank you mate, and I'm really hoping that they tour again with Brian Johnson as although I saw Axl Rose front them at the London Stadium and he did a good job, you can't beat a good BJ............

I often say to players who are claiming for things going on behind me back, I don't have 'VAR' and only me wife has eyes in the back of her head.......
Hope all is well mate

Good to be back and I will gladly give you a ref's view as my opinion of the game, having played a fair bit and having given ref's a lot of stick, has changed a lot. A thankless task it really is, and some of the new rules do not help in the slightest!

Welcome back ANTKB. If you were sat near bellends you should have moved. We are lucky, surrounded by lovely people in the Sir Trev stand, these people are like family now after 5 seasons!

We moved from being next to the away fans to the Bobby Moore Upper, have to say that Little Ed and Ed Jnr renewed their tickets, while the 'old man' elected to wait and not pay extra for the vague chance of attending a game, it appears I dodged a bullet! But the people who we are next to did become like family up until the 'closure', as they say you only tend to miss things or people when they are not there anymore.

Good to see your still on here, strong views and opinions but healthy ones as I remember? There were a number of things going on to be honest and we wasn't enjoying anywhere near as much, no butterflies in the stomach and the lack of smell of horse ***t as you left the station sealed it for me..... :)

Welcome back mate. I remember some of the abuse the local league refs got when I played, used to dish it out to them myself, bastards! Be good to hear your stories to see if anything has changed.

Hope all is well mate. I get stick but I give it back, problem is Iv'e been educated by team mates/supporters over the years on banta.....and so many players these days can give it but just can't take it back! It makes refereeing enjoyable knowing they will go to the pub cursing me, especially when a player tells me I'm having a shocker and I then remind him he's having a worse game as my mum could have scored what he's just missed and she's 73! I said in a game a few weeks ago and the player's jaw dropped and I thought he was going to burst into tears lol

and congrats on passing your referee exam and getting your badge .I got a lot of fun and exercise form refereeing for ten years it also helps to become hard of hearing as I'm sure you will find out.The winning team will give you 10 out of ten and the loosing team 3 out of ten don't worry it goes with the job enjoy

Thank you mate and hope all is well.

You are so right mate, I'm learning that and had a game a couple of months ago that comes to mind. A team loses 4-1 and as the game went on they got worse and worse. I could have given 2 more goals against them but I couldn't see clearly if the ball had crossed the line and a possible penalty but a player blocked my view of the tackle/foul, although the reactions of the players made it look like it could have been. If I'm not 100% I can't give a goal but if I had they could have ended up losing 7-1. After the game a couple of the Team that lost 4-1 said 'well played referee', the manager says 'I don't know who played worse my Team or You?'.......I gave him both barrells and told him to move well away from me, and I added that he wants to take a look at his lack of coaching ability before blaming me! A thankless task as you well know mate!
