Moyes' Marauders 'Cross-Well'!

The West Ham way reared it's ugly and beautiful head this lunchtime as David Moyes' Marauders 'out Leicestered' Leicester City by comprehensively beating the joint league leaders 3-0 at the King power Stadium. At the begining of the season fans were fearing the worst given the run of fixtures the club had to face up to. Few thought that the Irons would have more then three points on board by the 5th match yet alonem 6 points after the first four games!

This result was no flash in the pan, a description given by some disengenuous observers of Hammers' mighty 4-0 victory over Wolves last weekend, this was a cool and calculated display of a well drilled and well coached team that came to do a job and performed it magnificently.

Picking out a top performer for the Irons is for once a difficult task, as there are so many in the Claret and Blue who deserve mention, the entire team to a man gave their all, as it was plain to see, however it gives us great pleasure to eat a large portion of 'umble pie' with regards to Aaron Cresswell, we have relentlessly criticised the left back for 'forgetting' how to go forward, so how enjoyable it was to see him freed of the sole defensive/offensive left back position because of the presence of 'King Authur' Masuaku, between them they free each over to go on 'luxurious' marauding runs down the flank.

Aaron Cresswell finally looked like the player who once dinged in devastating and concise passes for fun during 'Slav's' Payet era, he never lost the skill, only the belief! It is quite astonishing to see the transmogrification of the team under David Moyes' first full season in charge. Make no mistake, to many neutral observers Moyes' appointment was his 'last chance saloon' opportunity, one that he seems to have grabbed with both hands.

There has been plenty of jocular references regarding David Moyes managing the team from home, however on a more serious note, using Stuart Pearce & Love in the lofty vulture/eagle location high up in the stands appears to be paying dividends, Brian Clough often used to get Peter Taylor to oversee things from the rafters, which were none too safe at the time!

The International break may have come just a little bit too early for 'Moyes' Marauders', but what a wonderful performance it was, we would go as far to say it was one of the best performances in the last decade, so complete was the execution of the managers' instructions.

Finally, what a debut it was for 'Vlad the Impaler' Coufal, he slotted in to the team as if he had always been there, small shoots of growth for the future maybe, but the grass is definitely getting greener . - Ed

What a complete performance, a performance which will probably be disected over the next few days in further depth.
Moyes is a very pragmatic, dilligent and organised man, who having been here before, assembled his coaching staff well (including bringing back Stuart Pearce) and then went about tweaking our style of play to suit the players at his disposal ala Cresswell, Masuaku and Antonio... just to name a few.
I too had given up on Cresswell and thought that his time was up at least a year ago.... His performance and input in his new role has surprised me greatly. Long may it continue, but I do hope that Sully doesn't see this as an opportunity to look at our current form as justification for not spending to move forward as a club.
Imagine if Sully had brought Moyes choices of Watkins and Benrama to West Ham? Not to say that we don't require defensive additions also.

I think this was probably the best performance from a West Ham side in years. I thought we were totally in control, the back five were solid, midfield we bossed, kept great shape and brilliant work rate and the three up front were old skool West Ham! Bring on Spudz!!!!

After yesterdays results,i reckon this league is open to anyone this season, perhaps its down to no home advantage due to no fans............Just think it could be us!!!!!!! imagine that hey.

Everton, villa,us the form teams....I definitely think it makes a difference without fans, one thing that possibly maybe a good thing for the BoM is by the time fans can go back they may have missed going so much that they will watch westham anywhere just a thought

I think its a real shame 65 that the BoM is closed to us. We have been going there for 4 seasons and just seeing quite frankly dross with a few exceptions. I have always said with the right set up the BoM would rock. Just a shame that we now have a really good balanced 11 (still not sure about the squad) and we are not there to enjoy the moment :o(

Too true Dartford,it is a shame we are not there, they have squared off behind the goals now,so bringing fans closer there,so could possibly be better, and yes rightly so i reckon perhaps this big lay off may of done us a favour,so enjoying where ever we turn up to watch them.It keeps going over my mind all the time getting back, just hope the pubs are still there when we do,they must be feeling it badly, look at the pubs round Green Street they went though i think the Queens is still going, shame the East Ham Working Mans Club went aswell.

Cresswell was destroyed under Bilics reign and tbh, didn't fare much better under Pelli. The best of Cresswell was under Big Sam when Cressie knew he had back up if he went forward. Bilics football and tactics were naive and juvenile. Think we have finally found a balance that Masuaku brings that Anderson never gave.

I don't disagree, when 'Crosswell' has back up his mind is free to explore forward moves without the ffear of losing posession.

and Masuaku is a lot harder to knock of the ball where anderson and lanzini full over at a slightest touch which may well get us a free kick but it also breaks up the flow of play
