Moyes Striker Conversion 3.0

Jesse Lingard's arrival on loan from Manchester United has raised many eyebrows among Hammers fans with many questioning the wisdom of expensively acquiring another midfielder, albeit a very talented one, as opposed to addressing the need for a back up striker to work alongside or in place of Michail Antonio and his dodgy hamstrings.

Why has Moyes gone for Lingard? Well, he knows the player, and there is a desperate need for extra reinforcements in the midfield area because the only back up for the massively impressive world class pairing of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek is the venerable Mark Noble.

Now everyone loves Marky, who couldn't, apart from those who have been on the receiving end of one of his 'misplaced tackles'? However by his own admission he doesn't have the necessary pace required for the Barclays Premier League anymore, and so Lingard's signing makes perfect sense.

David Moyes has had to work with a ludicrously restricted budget as he tries to shuffle players around to suit his system, and has succeeded quite brilliantly. One of Moyes's traits is to 'convert' players from their traditional roles by getting them to play in different positions, he HAS history at West Ham already.

Moyes turned Marko Arnautovic from winger in to centre forward during his first stint as manager, on his return as permanent manager Moyes turned Michail Antonio from winger to one of the best centre forwards in England! So with limited funds available, it seems quite clear that Moyes wants to 'kill two birds with one stone' and have Lingard available, not only as a back up midfielder, but as a back up striker as well.

There are those who view the signing with reservation though, with many worried that the incredible team spirit Moyes has engendered might be damaged by the arrival of a 'billy big bollocks' type player with all the baggage that can come with such 'personalities', although one cannot really visualise Lingard 'trying it on' with characters such as Angello Ogbonna and the like.

Fans may not like it, but this is part of the vital forward planning for this season if the club are to have a chance of attaining European qualification, it should be remembered that 'Les' Dawson's arrival was met with a chorus of displeasure from all areas, including ourselves, and we're still getting indigestion from eating so much 'umble pie! - Ed

I must admit,i for one have been rather apprehensive, since this Big Jesse scene has been mooted about coming here.We certainly dont want to upset the golden delicious out of the cart, but Moyes knows this also.Thinking about it,it could be a master stroke,he is quick and light, can slip into the places that Big Mick possibly cant,so with support, taking some pressure off him up front, who knows we will soon see,i trust Moyes on this.

I have no time for social media. I don't use any of it. I also despise people who live their lives on the internet. Lingard, although a talented footballer, has done nothing to reassure my belief. That he is nothing but a big kid, who needs to grow up. If he produces on the field and stops acting like a twat, he will earn my respect...

One has to ask why he was not playing enough games for Man U. He was dropped several times after coming back from injuries according to media reports as not being fit enough. Glad this deal is a loan one as I remain on the fence as to whether he will be an asset or and ass. No one doubts his talents but he comes here with a bad boy image and we have already had one of those from Man U in the past which proved to be a bad choice.
I hope Moyes can turn him into a team player and he finds his form quickly.......fingers crossed.

Who wouldn't be a "bad boy" under the barby faced assassin ,id say instead of a hair dryer he uses a sachet of soft & gentle moisturizer, part of Moyes success with this team is his strict discipline, id say anyone out of order their feet wont touch ,about the need for a striker ,the term itself has become redundant in todays game ,its beginning to be an old fashioned concept ,ithink the phrase was also target man ,Haller fitted nicly into this bracket ,standing on his todd in the other half of the field freezing his bollox off ,its ok for the likes of the chumps and the blades ,if you look at the top 6 or 7 theres only Kane for the scum and Vardy for Leicester can be considered out and out " strikers" and they get back in the middle of defence ,as does our own Mick ,i think this loan move is very good ,im open to opposite opinions ,but i think he'll slip in nicley playing in the hole ( i hate that term ) behind Mick + i myself wouldnt be in any hurry with micks stand in ,Yarmo will grow into that .

Lingard wasn't the best player in the youth sides at Manure by a long way, and he continued this consistency into the first team. Scored the odd decent goal but still lacked consistency and quality playing 11v11 from start to finish of a PL game. I have to say that I think this is a bad signing, as we already have players of better quality in his position.
