The season's good things

Cresswell - great signing, looks to be a great buy. finally a full back who can cross, defend and take a good free kick. is he our answer to leighton Baines? Jenkinson - good season, but is he going to stay? Song - up and down season for me. I am not sure that the anchor is the best position for him as he is slow on the ball and sometimes gives it away easily, that said he has a great through ball on him. should he stay? for me its a maybe. Sakho - great signing, finally a useful young goal area striker. Valencia - not sure, jury still out.

Agree with all that. If we get a new broom, it will be interesting how he plays some of our players. Valencia is the prime example: hasn't scored many, but isn't being used properly in my opinion... maybe a club like ours can't afford a "hitman" but would be fun to see how he went as the assassin in the box, rather than being forced to play winger, or wing-back, or other positions that don't suit him. I also think a few of our ever-presents under Sam might have to buck up their ideas.

yeah agree with Song playing out of position , i would play him in much more of an attacking play-maker role , as you say he' got the odd lovely through ball ,made fore putting through the Sak

I am in favour of keeping Cresswell and Jenkinson who have done sterling work. Cresswell is still learning but has a lot of strings to his bow. He can be suspect at times. Hope Jenkinson is signed up though the Poo rumour has it are after him. Song I am unsure of. We have not seen him at his best for a while now. He gives possession away too easily and hasn't got pace. Admittedly he threads a great pass now and again but is that enough? Maybe he isn't being used properly. I wish we could find a Cazorla type player at a reasonable cost. Cazorla has pace with lovely ball skills and scores from time to time. I feel this is something we desperately need if we could afford another similar type of player. We could then have some distribution to our front runners like Sakho and Valencia. Noble too often passes backwards or sideways. Love Sakho's endeavour. Valencia still has a lot to learn in terms of awareness and holding on to the ball. He is a bit lightweight. Maybe he need to get some weight training to bulk up a bit without sacrificing his pace. A new manager might utilize players in a different way and for the better. I do hope so.

Song has been a bit more like his old self last couple of games.Valencia,i know the jurys out on him,but i say stick with him! With a good addition in midfield (like you say a cazorla type) sakho & valencia will thrive.Problem at the moment is we have gone back to hoofball, & that doesnt suit our front 2 (or front 1)!!Lets get this season over with, then hopefully we will have a new manager that can inspire these players, add 2/3 decent signings in the summer & hey-ho start again...coyi

Kouyate has done pretty well too. Good signings in general but pretty dissapointed with how the season paned out. We are looking to finish outside the top 10 and I can't be more annoyed about that. Just look how the vultures are going to start circlying aroung Cresswell Kouyate and possibly Sakho in the summer.

I meant to mention Kouyate also in my post above. I agree in that he is immense for us. Need him to stay.
