Chances not taken by us and they take theirs. They haven't had many. What a goal by Antonio. 2-2

Looked a better shape once obiang and Tonka came on looked more solid as a defensive unit and as a result more comfortable.

Total fairy tale stuff .. I still can't believe it .. What a game and performance by the Lads .. So pleased for Slaven also after Saturdays poor performance .. Just think if we had those extra 3pts !

Because if Tomkins started we would've lost an attacking threat down that side. Sakho would've missed out and his inclusion vs United was key to our victory although Noble was easily MOTM closely followed by Kouyate

with tomka and obiang on I felt much better about stopping them, but less certain about scoring a 4th, I think Slav will work on a few things in the off season. He'll have an option with 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs -- surely he'll try that against some teams next season. I love his desire to attack, and you better believe he wants to keep it tight at the back anyway.

Anyway, seen the replay now guys and cried all over again. It's just so unbelievable. We should be so proud of our team. But for the referees we'd be on 70 points!!!!

Firstly Fred we didn't know the sakho was gonna score before the game so I can't see how that's an argument. Plus top teams defend far better than we do and are better drilled. I could easily argue if Tonka has kept it tight e.g arsenal first game then we wouldn't have been hanging on having let 2 in.

By the same argument if Tomkins played right back then we may not
Have scored 3 against Arsenal. But my issue is more with you basically just blaming Antonio being at right back for every goal conceded when the reality is
Apart from the Swansea game most of our goals conceded have come from
Down the middle due to Reid being a shambles this is also not counting he Chelsea penalty that wasn't a penalty . Sakho scoring wasn't my point the point was more that unlike Moses he pressed and harried and chased and covered and when one player does this it can become infectious. When sakho plays we play on the front foot

Of course you can make the same argument about Tonka fred. That's kinda my point. Like I say I'm antonios biggest fan but as a midfielder he puts defenders on their Blackfoot and the don't get forward, you probably agree with that. I'm not impressed by Reid ATM either but I'm NOT blaming Antonio for anything as far as goals are concerned. For me it would be like blaming Adrian if Slav played him at right back, it wouldn't be fair. Don't see how you can say Antonio hasn't struggled in many games at right back! Man U in the cup, arsenal when we went 2-0 the right side was being exposed every time they attacked and the very next game after arsenal, altho I'm sorry age limits my memory on who we played. My points are. 1 Antonio is a midfielder of quality that's puts opposition on the backfoot and stops them getting forward to, he also wades in with some great goals and assists. 2 a proper right back may well attack but he is aware he can't just charge forward we no thought to when he loses the ball, he knows defensive basics and duties, and has positional sense that's natural and does this without thinking. See cresswell for example has this sorted far better.Which I believe Antonio lacks, but he's NOT a defender! 3. Our defensive game isn't very drilled at all! No one seems to know what they are doing when we DONT have the ball! Ok I'm sure there is a lot you disagree on and I don't mind a debate but at the same time I also don't want to take too much shine away from people's enjoyment of last night. I just think we can go far IF we get a solid and well drilled base to sit on, but if Slav doesn't then mid table could beckon next season. I'd hate for our good chance of progressing to become a false dawn. We talked in the pub yesterday at how disappointed we would be if we didn't get Europe. All top teams who constantly play in Europe defend well. For me Leicester are an envy for me so well drilled and don't get pulled out of shape. Us? First time Man U get a chance to attack they slice through us like we are not even there.

Thing is you say all the top teams defend better than us but we've averaged 2 goals or more against them and the goals we have conceded havent been at the direct fault of anyone. Last night I didnt see Antonio pushing forward nearly as much as against swansea and I just think your being harsh. Yes I want him further forward, hes gets a goals he creates goals and hes what weve lacked for years, an out and out winger. But at the moment out of the two espeically against the pace of Martial and Rashford I think Antonio waas a better bet. Bilic clearly doesnt think his long term position is right back but in games were we need two strikers to get on the front foot I think until Byram is ready(He clearly seems to have some fitness issues) Antonio is a good shout to cover there unless of course also I don't think Tomkins with his lack of match practice couldve handled that intensity last night. Havent seen us come out like that in years

I see what you are saying Fred but I can never agree on Antonio being a good bet at right back. God I hope we get an experienced international rb next season. Ok not going thro the goals we got against the top teams I'm assuming you are right but what about when we play the small teams and defend badly? E.g Norwich at carrow road we had little grip on the game and went 2-0 down, yes we clawed it back but shouldn't be in that position in the first place whereas last week manure didn't play well but had a good defensive base Nd sneaked an unimpressive 1-0 win of which they have done consistently this season. Harsh? Maybe but it stems from being a defender/ midfielder myself and hating the fact that so many players feel it isn't their job to defend where as in reality as soon as the ball has been lost its everyone's job to defend as a team to some extent. Harsh? I thought you are harsh on Reid. Opinions opinions.
