David BeckhamSubmitted by Intact Hammer on 26 March, 2008 - 21:41.
Is it me or did Wes Brown go for the overlap everytime Becks got the ball.He was clearly instructed to do so , and that didn't allow Becks to go forward himself.Sure overlaps are good now and then but right midfielders are there to attack also and Becks didn't get that , beautiful balls from the half way line straight to the box did show how accurate his crosses are BUT that style of play was too predictable and too direct. We all know that Beckham can get forward so i don't know why Capello restricted his talents , Becks aint lost it and still has enough pace to get past a "French" full back.It seemed to me like Capello was tactically saying "Becks your getting on and your legs are a bit too rusty to get down the byline"

Im not saying Beckham played
Im not saying Beckham played bad , he played very well , however if he was given the power to wonder more up the field he could've and would've played better.

He got the top rating of 6.2 on BBC, that doesn't suggest he played very well just he was the slightly better player in a team full of under-performing, slack, over-paid jerkoffs!!! I doubt he was told not to get forward otherwise he could have played in defence!!
All I know is that Beckham played well, compared to our other players that is. When he went off we lost any creativity that we had. Just seeing it as I saw it.
Fair enough but Brown didn't even play bals in behind the defender for Becks to latch on too...In my opinion it was disresoectful to Beckham in the way he was told to play.
Didn't watch the game but have to disagree on Becks' pace. He's never had the pace or skill to go past defenders which is why is crosses into the box always had so much swerve on them so to get round the fulll back and into the danger area. Seems to me that Capello had that right and he did manage him at Madrid so knows what he's capable of and going past full backs aint it!
M2C, I didn't watch too much as i slept most of the way through it. If it wasn't for OS Pete texting me and waking me up i would have missed the whole second half! Rubbish!!!
