Tribute

I just wanted 2 pay tribute 2 my nan who died in the early hours of this morning,u may wonder why im telling u this but she was the real reason that i was a hammer and 4 that she deserves 2 be on this site.My nan was more like a mum 2 me as my parents divorced when i was a baby and i often stayed with her and my grandad up in Forest gate where they would talk none stop about our great club.In her later years she phoned me virtually every day talking excitedly about possible wh signings, after games discussing who played well and such, and she wasnt happy with me until id brought my Hammers news and wh programs round 4 her 2 read which she read from cover 2 cover (even the advertisements lol),she was wh mad! and thankfully ive inherited that passion. She was the biggest wh fan i knew and im sure the club will miss her as i do already.I will never meet a greater woman that my nan, she was after all,my hero and thanks 2 her i'll be forever blowing bubbles 4 me and 4 her.God bless u nan.

What a beautiful and yet sad post. Sorry for your loss Clare. It sounds like your Nan was a real character. She certainly had an impact on you, just the fact that you follow the Hammers because of her influence means that you will always be keeping a part of her alive. I lived with my late Nan & Grandad in Forrest Gate, before they moved to East Ham and I moved to Barking. I wasn't even school age back then (1971) my Grandad was a Hammer and my Dad too so it was a natural progression for me. I hope your Nan passed away peacefully Clare.

Your nan sounds like she was a legend. I hope you're ok. Does anyone know how to get a tribute over the tannoy? Or on the electronic advertising hoardings? It would be a lovely touch. True fans should be honoured in public when they pass, after all, we are supposed to be a family club.

A lovely tribute to your Nan Clare, even typing it out would have been hard to do but you did it well. I recently lost my Nan at the ripe old age of 99 and she was a true East Ender and also a big Hammer. Keep the happy memories of her and God bless to you.

Thoughts are with you Clare. Hopefully the team can do her proud at the weekend! If I may, I'll take the lead in dedicating the game to your nan on behalf of westhamfans.org

Just b4 my father died, Graham Gooch scored 333 for England against India, and as Essex fans it was a great moment for us to share. We also watched England Belgium in a World Cup game whilst he was in hospital, with David Platt scoring a fantastic goal . Still remember those happy moments associated with sport from his final days. He is still with me when I watch West Ham, moaning most of the time this season but still supporting his beloved West Ham from beyond the grave. If your Nan bumps into him, she will probably give him a black eye. He was a randy bugger! Smile as you remember her Clare, that's the best tribute of all! Thoughts will you.

Good to see you laughing! Now then Nan, have a word with the Big Guy and see if an angel can be sent down to Curbishley to tell him to attack Newcastle and win the game, scoring three goals or more in the process!
