Nigel Reo-Coker and Marlon Harewood return to the Boleyn as part of Martin O'Neil's Aston Villa squad, those fans who want to give them a hard time would do well to remember what usually happens when an ex-player is given too much stick!....... West Ham (from): Green, Pantsil, Tomkins, Neill, McCartney, Faubert, Parker, Noble, Boa Morte, Zamora, Ashton, Walker, Mullins, Cole, Solano, Sears, Collison....... Aston Villa (from): Carson, Taylor, Mellberg, Laursen, Knight, Bouma, Petrov, Reo-Coker, Barry, Young, Osbourne, Salifou, Maloney, Routledge, Carew, Agonlahor, Harewood.

sell boa morte to newcastle and buy STEPHEN HUNT from reading. think he'd be a class player in claret and blue..passionate,gives his all and can only get better. he'd come relatively cheap also. swap bobby z for kevin doyle and also while we're at it buy SHOREY as stiff competition for george. the revenge for the 6-o defeat is complete. robbing reading of all their glory. come on u irons!!

Submitted by joepardew on 13 May, 2008 - 22:10.
hah perhaps not but i am irish and there are few players out there like hunt(aggressive, gives 110% every game). perhaps doyle isn't the quality we're after but i'm referring to a replacement for bobby z to warm the subs bench and doyle fits the bill. in terms of a left back, you can't argue with shorey? as curbs says, one step at a time. lookin ahead 12 months down the line if we come 7th or 8th and qualify for intertoto i would say a job well done. improving every season is the key. was a shame curbs got booed when his name was called out for the post match lap of appreciation. it just underlines how deluded a section of our fans really are!! qualifying for uefa will be tough next year as most teams are simply getting stronger every year but first and foremost we gota' keep the likes of deano and green and offload sum of the deadwood before some of us get carried away with buying world class players. we all know that's just not gona happen overnight!

Its on the o/s West Ham to sit down with Dean Ashton on Friday to sort out a new long term contract. Ashton is integral to Alan Curbishleys plans for the future. Sounds a bit more promising.

Is anyone already excited about the new season starting in 95 days, not just because its going to be a long summer with no home nations in the Euro's, but because finally we have a real prospect to challenge for Europe with the players we have got and are looking to sign. The players we must keep without a doubt in my eyes are Deano, get him a new long term contract no matter what, nobes and parker are going to be an amazing midfield partnership, upson mccartney and pantsil need to be kept. Solano not going to play 90 mins all season but what a great squad player he is, ljunberg is a tough again I think great squad player but his wages are also very high im 50/50. Get Dyre, Faubert, Bellamy, Ethers and Collins back to full fitness and don't let them pull something in a stupid training drill! Green need to keep him, I know its gone quite but I can still see the likes of Arsenal, S***s, Liverpool or Villa putting in a cheeky bid for him, get his pen to paper the same as Deano. This may sound crazy but with Keegan looking at Boa Morte am I the only person that wouldn't mind it if N'Zogbia came the other way, he would really challenge for that first team left spot (although hands up I have to admit that Boa Morte was superb on Sunday). Obviously the likes of Quasie out, but does anyone find it interesting that in his interview Curbs said he is not under pressure to cut costs, I think from him saying that its not about the money and the press have just specualted, I look at it as though our squad is huge, we can't buy anyone without letting others go, its not to do with the money, but the people going out the claret and blue door will tell that story. Got to say thank you for curbs, not for the most entertaining season, because it weren't but we got exactly what we wanted top half finish, also have to say well done to Deano, finally got back in the England and well deserved as well, lets just hope the Chelsea players don't lunge in on any takles like last time. Its going to be a nervous time until we get Green and Deano to commit there future but I'm confident they will. COYI from a happy and excited hammer!
Submitted by asheshammer on 13 May, 2008 - 23:36.
Yes, already excited. I've completely forgotten about last season already (except that we finished ahead of Spuds and Newcastle I remember nothing). NZogbia would be interesting to have at West Ham. He's fast, that's for sure. In their win over us at St James (in the season I just forgot) he was the one who caused all the trouble. But let's see who's available; we need someone as good as we can get on the left.

Following the thread with regards to Deano, my view on the matter is that he owes us. I know that he got injured on international duty, but we had to pay his wages while he recovered and get him fit again. If a top four club comes calling then no one could blame his ambition (after all things worked out well for Tevez), but at least give us another season as pay back. Whilst I love the excitement of the P.L, the lack of loyalty is a horrible trait and just drives the divide between the so called 'big' clubs. To prove we have lost out selling club label, we should a least put a silly price tag on him as Charlton did with Bent (how does that muppet feel now?). Then a least we could find a worthy replacement. Anyway this will obviously drag on for another three months yet and Manure will do some more under handed tricks.

Total agree shall we say a price tag of 25 mil?
Submitted by nigedevlin on 13 May, 2008 - 11:20.
Deano's comments? Am i being paranoid or what? but it just made me wonder why he had to say anything about his contract to the press? Hope he is not saying this about being "unsure about my future" to see if any of the top four come sniffing??? Hope i am wrong but it seems the norm now days?

This story was doing the rounds this morning ... Deano Oh No! Sky Sports News is reporting that Manchester United have tabled a £10 million bid for Dean Ashton. I think most of us would put money on the fact that they will, in the end, succeed in prizing him away from Upton Park. However, surely £10 million is a joke for a player who has scored 10 goals in 13 outings this season? We’ll be a laughing stock if he leaves for anything less than £15 million. Why on earth would Man U want a player who was valued at less than that anyway? Have we learned nothing from the past? What a joke it was to let Joe Cole go for £6 million … and any number of other players for less than their true worth. I want Deano to stay. He and Bellamy would be a fearsome duo next season. But I fear it’s a partnership we will never see…

to MHorn- funny you should mention that, i was just finishing a reply to bobby in regards to the boa morte deal and citing my targets and bam, my computer went back for some reason and i saw your comment. i said im happy with our team (once back in full force) with ashton in full swing (and hopefully tying him down), bells faubert and dyer fit and ready, we'll ahve a team to reckon with. just a cheeky left winger and a young promising striker to compete with the main two and sears. this italian, the next del piero 'apparently', would perfect! i did say that it looks like the tide is turning, newcastle taking OUR deadwood and for 3m, thats almost a blag as much as the harewood one for 4! Looks like Nani is busy already - West Ham are close to clinching a season-long loan deal for Juventus youngster Davide Lanzafame, who scored 10 goals in Italy's second division this season and won U21 caps for Italy. (SkySports.com, 1030 BST)

WHAT ????? .... Newcastle United look at £5million Hammers star Newcastle United Football Club are weighing up an offer for Luis Boa Morte. Kevin Keegan is desperate to add more flair to his squad during the summer transfer window, and he feels he could get the most out of the unsettled West Ham United midfielder. "I've got another two years on my contract," Boa Morte told the News of the World at the weekend. "I can't say I'm completely happy at West Ham United. In the end we'll see." It is believed Keegan will offer £3million for the Portugal international, who arrived at Upton Park just last January when he moved from Fulham for a reported £5million.

This was an exciting game and a 2-2 result is a fair one as West Ham did not deserve to lose after having the lions share of possession in the first half. Off course match after match somehow in the second half our guys really start easing off and giving up their territorial advantage and this game was no exception. But with Dean's thunderous shot late in the game we were able to salvage a point and end Villa's hopes of an automatic EUFA cup spot. Still they should be satisfied with going the Inter-Toto route into that competition. Rumour has it that Barry is a target for the Hammers, however if Liverpool are interested then I cannot see the Hammers snapping him up. By the way reading about Tottenscums blogs a few weeks ago, apparently they did not seem to think that it was a big deal to finish in 11th or 12th as they had already qualified for Europe and won some silverware. So anyway I watched the recording of the Liverpool-Tottenscum match and all the hype about two of the best attacking sides in the league producing the most exhilarating performance turned out to be a real dull boring goaless affair of loose balls and misplaced passes in the first half. However, the unusually quiet crowd in the second half were suddenly cheering wildly - and then the commentator announced that it was because the screen was displaying the latest score from Upton Park after Villa had taken the lead. This seem to "spur" on the Tottenscum team as the crowd were egging them on. But they failed to score from some glorious chances that they created. Liverpool being Liverpool took full advantage and scored twice and dominated the game. They should have added a few more but all the same did quieten the wild cheers from the Tottenscum supporters who believed that they were going to finish above the Hammers. Obviously the large display failed to post information about the West Ham equaliser. No doubt the Spud supportes will tell you that it is immaterial that they finished behind the Hammers as they really did not care about such trivial things. All I say is Up the Hammers. My man of the match was Boa Morte. He played exceptionally well and I hope we accept him as a true Hammer. All this junk posts about how he should go really does not come out of the mouths of the true claret and blue Hammers fans. I also say that Curbs should be given an opportunity to improve on this 10th position and possibly even take us into the European Champions Trophy at the end of next season.
Submitted by Boogerscaravan on 12 May, 2008 - 22:57.
Deano is back to his best and has finished the season on fire, he looks leaner, fitter and sharper, the 1st thing Curbs and the gang must do is secure his services long term. Its great to hear he wants to stay here, I for one expected him to be off probably to Newcastle in the Summer. Curbs really needs to build his team around Deano, Nobes and Scotty Parker with Upson and Green behind them. That for me is the nucleus of a great team. I'm proud of the fact we finished 10th in what was a season of adversity at times. Just as long as we progress from here and galvanise ourselves fully in this league the way Blackburn seem to have done. I couldn't help looking at those Reading faces on Sun and think we were a million miles removed from their anguish this season which was a comforting thought, so on reflection finishing 10th and keeping ahead of those Spuds was the all important thing - well done to all the team COYI.......... walking in a Boogers wonderland

I'm sorry but Curbs has done a great job, 10th was 5 places more than last season, next season another 5 places and we'll be in Europe. slowly but surely we'll get there. if we do get relegated i've already considerd suicide. i've murked all my fellow Reading fans already so please curbs keep us up. with fit Bellers and Deano and others returning from injury (list sooo long i wont list them all out) but most anticipated for me is going to be Matty Etherington, with our full team we're a top 5 finish and then the league is ours.(how i do love my imagination) lol COYI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting piece of news on KUMB. Deano wants to extend his contract but despite approaching the club,he hasn't heard anything. So what do we read into that? Do the club want to keep him or sell him? Personally, I feel that he has had a very good end to the season and looks more like the old DEano so we really should be looking to keep him as long as possible.

I believe it was Scott Duxbury who said they were holding off offering a new contract because of concerns over his fitness - they wanted to see what he was like when he was back to full fitness.. Now they have.. so they better give the lad what he wants - next year is going to be the year of Deano. West Ham (first and foremost) and England.
Submitted by JACSCAMP on 12 May, 2008 - 15:31.
100% agree Jeffhammer. There would be no more important bit of business in the summer than getting Deano to sign a new contract. After a full pre-season getting sharp I reckon he will be awesome next year. For some reason I'm not sure Curbishley likes him very much. Come on BG, prove to all of us that we mean business this time by getting him on a long term contract, any other outcome only proves we have no ambition once again. Having said that I don't spose anyone would be surprised.

Well Done Hammers! In all the years I've been following West Ham, it hasn't been often that we've finished in the top half, or above Tottenham and Newcastle. Not bad for an injury shot season and a generally unimaginative manager. Well done Robert Green for HOTY. Well done Macca for runner up, and Well done Tomka for YHOTY. Praise to Deano for scoring his 10th, not bad for a first season back from horrific injury (and with injuries this season as well). Puts paid to those who criticised him mid year. We LOVE you Deano!!! Well done Nobby Solano for a great goal, too. Now we have a lot to look forward to. Things are going to change over the Summer. Some old faces will be going. If Bobby Z does depart, we all owe him enormous thanks for that goal in Cardiff. So if he joins one of the newly promoted teams, as was suggested, then when he comes to West Ham, everybody please give him a huge ovation. I don't think that anyone seems likely to depart under a black cloud this year; not like last year with Yossi. Anyone who bids farewell will do it with the gratitude of the fans. OK, so what do we need for next season? (1) left back is a high priority. (2) Left wing we could really use a pacey creative player. (3) A proven goalscorer. Secure those three things and we could find ourselves in 6-7 next season, and hard to beat.
Submitted by braintreeboy on 12 May, 2008 - 11:21.
Based on yesteradys performance: Extend Nobby's contract, what a little genius, Deano finally found superb form towards the end of the season, Parker & Noble what a central midfield sensation they can be, Green is Englands NUMBER 1, Pantsil you've just got to love him (with his lap of honour on his own), Macartney keeps getting better, and Ferdinand was steady. Lets build our team around that lot plus Upson, Bellamy and Dyer. Get the best price for the others, add a few of the academy boys and two or three signings and let the new season begin!!!!! How many weeks to kick off?
Submitted by AussieJohn on 12 May, 2008 - 10:50.
So who we gonna sign and who we gonna get rid of? I reckon we should sign - James Harper from Reading, big strong and can play a bit. I would also have Dave Kitson from Reading ahead of Carlton Cole any day of the week. Bobby Z will go to one of the newly promoted clubs I think as will Lee Bowyer, Freddy will be off to Italy or Spain. I just hope we can get a decent Centre Half too and to see Deano and Belamy play together would be potentially great.

I'd love to see us discover a foreign left sided winger attacker ... It's a harsh comparison but look at Boa Morte & then Ronaldo ... they play in a similar position, one gets O goals & the other 30+ goals. On the right we should be OK with Dyer / Faubert

Credit where its due, was over at yesterdays game and while I'm far from a fan of LBM I thought he worked his socks off. How many times have we seen Ethers track back and make those kinda tackles (once v Arsenal last season to set up the winner when we won at home 1-0). Its been said before and I agree thats its such bad form to boo ANY West Ham player before a ball is even kicked, let him play his usual shite first and then by all means give him hell.

I agree mate ... I can't boo the guy, my mind takes me back to wigan away last year, biting my nails in the stands & he got us the first goal - at the time the game could've gone either way. we all know the rest. The only problem I have with him now is that his red card cost us a place in the uefa cup !!!

He took Reo-Coker out so many times and got the biggest cheer of his career each time. MAybe we should keep him in the squad and just bring him out once a year for the home Viles game. (JOKE, pleassse) So many positives and a feel good end to the season. Reckon Z man will be off by the way he waved to the bitter end going through the tunnel - it looked like a goodbye to us all to me. Listening to the radio commentary of the Fulham game yesterday reminded me of 12 months ago. I know in many ways it has been a disappointing season, but I would swap mid-table mediocrity for a last day relegation battle any day! I think we can be reasonably optimistic about next season. Of the teams above us there is no reason why we can't finish above Man City (who are in self-inflicted meltdown with a meddling chairman - when will they ever learn and thank goodness for the likes of BG who seems to value stability) and Portsmouth and Blackburn who are possibly punching above their weight. Everton and Villa seem very well organised so they may be out of our reach. Below us S***s will regroup and spend squillions over the summer so they are a threat and Newcastle, like Man City, are experts at shooting themselves in the foot. So if we can get our injuries behind us I can see no reason why we can't move up to around seventh or eighth playing a much more attractive brand of pacy, passing football. If that was the case I would be very happy.
Submitted by jeffhammer on 12 May, 2008 - 07:13.
A really entertaining game but they usually are against Villa because they come to play football. Some very good performances from our players in particular Noble Parker Solano and Boa Morte who worked really hard. Defensively we were a bit better with Anton back and Tompkins played very well against Carew.McCartney for once had a poor game and had to come off at half time. Now lets get shot of the dead wood and bring in 4 top class players.

Well Its Over, All in All a good season is my opinion. Yes i am not totally sure in the management but 10th with a injury hit squad is a fair return. Now for me to eat humble pie! Deano - called him a fat lazy waste of space in a post a while back and said that we should sell him and get bent! well you showed me to be a prat and a few other deano bashers. I hope that others that have been less that complementry about the lad will also hold thier hands up. Well now we have to look to the future and after reading the comments of the chairmen today in the programme i am happier about the future. Sad to see the end i think of a few players (bobby z in particular) but we must trim the squad and then get in players that will keep us in the run with the Spuds/Villa/Everton/Man City because believe me they will be improving their squads! Well can't wait already for next season. Also well done Fulham for staying up and well done Man U (Come on they deserved it)

Hi - The boss thanks us all.. the the normal stuff and ends with "i wish you all an enjoyable summer. You can rest assured that the close-season will be a supremley busy and productive period" As for the game it was enjoyable from start to finish. We matched villa from start to finish and they are a good team. Deano was good as was the whole team. Defence still looked a bit Wobbly and Lucas is still in my opinion a bit of a liability but a good display to end the season. Great shout when they said the S***s score and it was funny when at the end of the game the team went to the changing rooms to get sorted and then come out as a team for a lap of honour all apart from Jonny P who started his own lap of honour before the tannoy system told him to report to the changing room - Love the Man.
