alot of people seem to forget WE (yes West Ham United) let go of Jimmy Bullard as a youngster why would he want to come back now after we basically shat all over him and didnt bother signing him.
We actually signed him non-league football but let him go as he wasn't deemed good enough. Another talent let through the fingers. No point getting him back though
Buffon, abidal, richards, mexes, terry, Ronaldo, kaka, Messi, fabregas, Rooney, Ibrahimovic............ Come on Curbishley!
Bullard is an excellent player, but with Noble getting another season under his belt I don't see the need, plus a fit Dyer would be competing for that spot. Shorey aint as good as McCartney. Reid and Johnson, really? We can do much better than the former and the latter is one of the most overrated players in the country. He's half the player Bellamy is. Not a particularly ambitious wish list, we can do better than that now if everyone's fit.
Sorry, that wasn't very constructive. I like WHU_FAN's team below. Petrov would be a mean addition. We need a Boa Morte replacement. I'd like Gamst meself, if we could get him.
I was debating that aswell, whether to go for Pedersen or Petrov on the left. Would have either of them to be honest, bother better than Boa Morte and they would both add a strong addition to the team in terms of shooting, dribbling and crossing! What a left foot that Pedersen has got.
GK: Green RB: Neil CB: Ferdinand CB: Upson LB: McCartney RW: Faubert CM: Dyer CM: Parker LW: Petrov (from Man City) ST: Ashton ST: Bellamy SUBS: Wright, Tompkins, Mullins, Noble and Sears. I was gonna chuck Daily upfront but I thought I might aswell be realistic! We have no chance of getting him!
Green,Faubert,Collins,Upson,McCartney or new left-back,(preferably not Shorey),Dyer,Parker,Noble,Bresciano,Bellamy and Ashton.
Thinking back to the fans forum discussion recently held by WESTHAM the overall comments were very encouraging. One thing that was stated by DUXBURY was that getting into EUROPE was to be a priority for next season.I think that is a positive comment that all us fans wanted to hear, but will no doubt create it's own pressures for CURB'S.It will be make a break season for CURB'S and he knows it. We know we have an ambitious chairman in GUDMUNDSSON who wants big things for this club.I think CURB'S knows he has made a few blunders in the transfer market, some not making the grade and some injury prone.I think he will learn from this and with the input of NANI we should have some interesting summer signings
this would be my team next season
gk: green, cb: ferdinand, dunne, upson, rwb: faubert, lwb: shorey, cm: noble, parker, arshavin, cf: ashton, bellamy
green... neil, upson, ferdinand, shorey.... SWP, parker,Bresciano,Farfan..... Ashton,Bellamy
Subs: Collins,Dyer,Sears,Noble,GK.
Please sell: davenport,boa,cole,Quasie,Pantsil.
As i am being greedy in midfield i would also sign appiah for height, strength and experience
FRANKY mate ,too much of a risk to put TOMPKINS in as a first team regular ,he still needs to prove himself.I think CURB'S will loan him out to a championship side to develop his game.BRESCIANO looks to be the business(watch on utube). An attacking midfielder who creates and likes to shoot, he could be a useful option. Not that struck on JOHNSON ,he has gone off the boil this season.I like the look of the new Italian RONALDO we are after(on loan next season....
West Ham United are set to clinch a loan deal for Italian starlet Davide Lanzafame.
The 21-year-old striker is a product of Juventus' youth system and made his first-team debut for them last season.
But this term he was loaned out to Bari in Serie B where Juve legend Antonio Conte is coach.
Indeed Conte feels the player has all the ability in the world - even likening him to Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Lanzafame has improved tactically," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
"He is explosive, he sniffs the goal, and imposes his speed outside the area. If he improves and learns he can become like Cristiano Ronaldo."
West Ham are now set to agree terms with Juve for a season-long loan.
The deal is a clear indication of the influence of The Hammers' new sporting director Gianluca Nani.)......ANDY REID ,don't know enough about his game to make a judgement, but going by the comments on here...no!....DOWNING on the left side would be great addition but he probably has bigger ambitions if he chooses to move.BULLARD and SHOREY are good players ,probably better than what we already have ,but I think we can do better than them.NEILL is not pacey enough ,nor is McCARTNEY .At the end of the day we can speculate endlessly, but,it's CURB'S and NANI who are doing the selecting we just have to wait and see what develops......but the names that have been mentioned in the papers recently,I think give us reasons to be positive .
But as far as the positions we certainly need to strenghten are concerned, these three would be my priority:left wing, attacking creative midfielder and leftback.
My team would be GK Green RB Faubert CB Upson CB Dunne LB Bridge RM SWP? CM Parker CM Noble LM Bresciano CF Ashton CF Bellamy with this team we should easily b top 5/6 next season
With realistic signings i would love to see following team next season. Green, RB:Faubert CB:S.Taylor CB:Upson LB:Shorey RM:Lennon CM:Parker CM:Tiago / Huddlestone(if tiago out of reach) LM:Nzogbia ST:Ashton, ST:Arshavin. Subs Anton, Bellamy, Dyer, Noble
DUTCH that ARSHAVIN is hot property saw him in the game midweek ZENIT ST.PETERSBURY v RANGERS he was classy. In fact that whole ZENIT team was full of unknown players, but boy could they play.
If downing was a right mid and had a right foot. He'd be crap crappy klint.
Eh? But he's left footed, plays at left midfield and is excellent. I'd love to have him at West Ham and play him ahead of Ethers and LBM. He's been Boro's most creative player for a while and I think in the Euro qualifiers he set up most of the goals England scored in the 4 or 5 games that he played. I can see him moving on this summer to either Spuds or one of the teams in the Europe. That should tell you something...
I agree Apache ,DOWNING is a good player that would certainly improve our left side.He puts in decent performances for MIDDLESBRO and he is not injury prone. But would he want to come?..He is a player that may have bigger ambitions of CHAMPIONS LEAGUE football.
GK: Green RB: Neill CB: Upson CB: Ferdinand LB: Shorey RM: Faubert CM: Bresciano CM: Parker LM: Etherington ST: Ashton ST: Toni
W H U F C !
Green, RB:G.Johnson LB:George CB:Upson CB:Dunne RM:Dyer LM:Riise? (apparently on his way out) CM:Parker CM:M.Johnson ST:Ashton ST:Bellamy
SUBS: Walker, Anton, Sears, Noble, Lita. Would love James Milner I put that last season and got slated but I still think he is an awesome player.
Maybe Hunt I know he is filth but he gives 110% and pops up with goal or two.
Mark Bresciano Ive heard we are linked but sonds to ambitiously attacking for Curbishley to be true!!!
Can't understand everyone picking Tomkins. Ok he's one of ours but frankly he is nowhere near ready for the Prem. He's dropped a clanger in every game he's played so far. He makes Ferdinand look world class. Come on, get real folks. And why waste money on Shorey? He's no better than McCartney. Come on if we are going to spend, lets IMPROVE the team. We've got enough squad players.
Andy Reid, Bullard ??? We can do mutch better.
Reid is rubbish and I dont rate Bullard higher than Noble.
Think we should sign a LB(Shorey, Bridge) + LM (NO WAY Reid, prefer Downing, MG Pedersen maybe Kapo was great in France or try to sign Ben Arfa before the really big clubs)
and maybe a striker, sell Zamora or CC and go for Crouch, his scoring record is fabalous.
Team: Green, Faubert (played DR in france, Ferdinand, Upson , LB
Ljungberg or Dyer, Parker, Noble, LM
Ashton (Crouch), Bellamy (Sears)
Phippsy, that about as ambitious as curbs......
Green,Faubert,Tomkins,Upson(I think they will be a good pairing,Tomkins has speed and ability, Upson is a good leader)Definatley George, Barnetta, Noble,Parker, Milner ( would be another ex-geordie boy, good ability and never gives up),Ashton, Bellamy( He does need a chance to show us what he can do) Subs: Stech, Ferdinand (versatile), Dyer, Ethers, Collison, Sears, and maybe a really cut price deal for Lita, he is much better then Cole or Zamora, and we could pick him up cheap, Shorey, again, for the right price, Always could give him a more advanced role, also, he is a good set piece taker. SELL: Devenort, Neill, Bowyer, Gabbidon or ginge, Cole, maybe zamora, for 5 million, i would! Spector, ljungberg.
I think that could help balance the books
Andy Reid? Andy f8cking Reid! And you think Frank is fat!
My sentiments exactly. The fat f8ck got sold by spares cos he's sh*t and you want him here now!! Let's get Sheringham back while we're at it.................
no thanks. Neil is far to slow for a full back, and doesnt make up for it in other areas. Shorey isn't half the defender linda is. Bullard is decent, but not good enough for us. Andy reid, that's a joke right? and Johnson, now I know you're just picking names out of the hat. what has he ever done apart from run fast and get a few pens for palace. also, Imo ferdinand is too inconsistent, and his priorities lay elsewhere. (being a goon). Franky, Im sorry if that sounded rude, I dont mean to be...we all have different opinions on players, I just felt quite strongly about a few that you named.
no probs.
GK Green
RB (not sure about RB) CB Upson CB Tomkins LB McCartney
RM Faubert CM Noble CM Parker LM Dyer
CF Bellamy CF Ashton.
off the topic, I would love us to sign huntelaar. never gonna happen but I really rate him. Anyway, Im quite happy with the team we've got if theyre all fit (apart from Neill), but I would like a playmaker (lanzafame looks good) and some more prospects and backup.
Team you could play at home:
GK:GREEN LWB:SHOREY CB:UPSON CB:FERDINAND CB:DUNNE RWB: FAUBERT
CM:PARKER CM:APPIAH ATM DYER CF:ASHTON CF:HENRY subs:Wright,Gabbidon,Noble,Etherington,Bellamy,Neil,Sears 7 subs next season?
id play 442 away from home.CJ
i like it, but bellamy up with ashton - we dont want henry when we're trying to cut the wage bill! andy johnson on the other hand....
Mine would be: Green(GK), Painstil (RB), Ferdinand (I would give him one more chance. When he got back from all the court stuff he played well..though he moaned about not getting into the England squad) (CB), Upson (CB), McCartney (LB), Dyer (RM), Parker (CM), Noble (CM), Etherington (LM), Ashton (CF), Bellamy (CF). This all depends on if Curbs signs anyone. Phippsy
