Why do we always look down?

Some of the players mentioned on here some would like to see come in make me wonder if we're naturally negative as WH fans? Bullard-almost relegated with Fulham, Andy Reid-fattest player at Sunderland, Shorey-relegated with Reading. Next they'll be calls for Caleb Folan (scored for Hull tonight). Why do we look at the clubs below us for players to take us forward? Surely we should be raiding Blackburn for Bentley, Everton for Cahill or Man City for Elano. Surely properly enticed into the WH way of playing these guys would be a success instead of us trying to put square ball players in round holes. Can you honestly see Andy Reid improving our squad? All the bigger clubs try to raid us for our players, time to turn the table me thinks. Any thoughts?

I agree with you in principle, we should be trying for players like, Lescot (everton), Bently as you mentioned etc etc. the problem is three fold. Firstly, most of the clubs above us can offer, UEFA footie, they are also higher in the league so why step down, and they also have more ambition than us at the moment, although we were promised that, but where has it gone. The few players i would take from the lower tier teams are Richardson from Sunderland. He has been amazing this season when fit. Any maybe, NZog from Toon, but think they are on a level field with us....
