Life for West Ham fans really sucks right now.....

The season has ended, thank God, and we are all looking forward to a fresh start. However, I do feel that nothing is going to radically change. While the papers are not to be taken as gospel ,it's depressing to see our best players being linked with rival teams (Anton for Citeh and Ashton for S***s to name a few) and us seemingly chucking money at every foreign, C list talent, there is. I know we all wanted Curbs to become aware of european talent but to me it's rather annoying to think we could be signing players that nobody has a clue about. They are all supposedly 'good' but mainly that they have potential. For nthe position we wanna be in, we have to have players that can perform NOW. We have some great youngsters and (in my opinion) all we need is a flair player or two. Which leads me smartly onto another thing. I do hope that just because we are signing foreign players (such as this new Ronaldo I keep hearing about) that we aren't neglecting ourselves tactically. By this I mean that we aren't gonna play the same boring sh*te as last season but rely on some flash guy to carry the team. Am I being paranoid or do I have every right to be suspicious. Curbs will be here at the beginning of the season but (like many others) believe that if there is a repeat of last season, he will get the chop quicker than you can say 'Boring'. God Bless. x

Altho at the moment we dont have much to be excited about, YES I do think you are being paranoid, Phippsy! I think too many read too much into what the papers say! I thought we ALL would have learnt that one! Ok So Anton and Ashton are being linked, who in all honesty didnt see that coming! Its just a reflection on the fact we have GOOD PLAYERS! As for signing C-list rated players we have never heard of, well Nani WAS employed to dig out a gem that ISNT known to the big teams. Its our ONLY way of getting ahead of them to get quality. And of course it could easily be a player just trying to get an improved contract because it just MIGHT NOT BE TRUE!

Good post Phippsy, agree we haven't got much to be excited about. We haven't apart from the very rare moment been on top of our game, but hey, we got on with it, looked for the positives and forever hoped that it would all change one day. We have now been promised that our dreams will now all come true and we at last will get our chance for real glory. At the moment after last season and going to watch some of those sorry performances, the lack of interest and infomation for the supporters, i feel more than let down and that's the difference this season over all the others. Are we,or are we not going to become a Champions league team, or is that just another kick in the teeth for us fans? COYwecantakeitIrons!!!

Phippsy & Bully you make some good points but keep the faith Boys. When has it ever been that easy following our beloved Hammers. Unfortunately I think we will have to put up with plenty of speculation over the coming months but can only hope that we start the season with a fit & healthy squad and also that we can keep the players we need to move us on. It is frustrating when there appears to be a lack of information but sometimes too much information can be just as bad. Is it my Claret & Blue glasses or just blind faith but I am still hoping for good times over the next few years. COYKeeptheClaret&BluefaithIrons!!

I've been a supporter for 40 years and it has sucked for most of that time mate. It's just that, in the past, it sucked but we were at least proud of the way we lost!

Agreed Fanno. I've got claret and blue blood and I will always come down Upton Park and cheer for our lads out of love and passion for the club. However, it seems long ago that I was cheering because of the good football we played. Phippsy

Got to agree Phippsy.Ferdinand,Ashton,Green and Noble have to be the spine of our team. Our crown Jewels.Anyone who has anything to do with the selling of these players should be fed to the fans!We all know what we need and a good idea who we want and who we want to leave. For me i would go for some European options but players we know.At left back Nicky Shorey, offers more going forward than George McCartney.I would then go for Tranquillo Barnetta,a superb left sided player plying his trade in the Bundesliga.I also like the rumour off Marco Bresciana from Palermo coming to Upton Park.I'm convinced we could pick these 3 up for £12m.This money could easily be re-couped by off-loading some off the dross we have at present.I'm sure Mullins could be used as part of a Shorey deal.Apparentley King Kev fancies Boa-Morte,is Quashie still wanted at the Britannia?Thats just 3.I have not mentioned Davenport,Bowyer,Cole and Zamora.I would also lose Gabbidon and Collins and try and get Taylor from Newcastle or Wheater from Boro. Then we would just need to add some fire power to play alongside Ashton,Bellamy and Sears. If we buy one and get one in on a season long loan(Juve chap we've been linked with)that could be 4 or 5 in and a load off crap out and bring down the wage bill.(Pay Deano £100k a week!Lol)

Some good views there Enfield. I agree with you especially when you talk about players to sell. I think we are over nostalgic (as a fan base) about Zamora. I love him to bits but he won't take us forward. Mr Mullins is the most inconsistant hot and cold player I know and yet people call him 'reliable' give me a break! Gabbs and Collins are crocks. No two ways. I think Collins would have been an amazing player but he is a sick note and won't develop without games. The others you mentioned speak for themselves! Phippsy

If we sign Ashton to a contract extension, you're wrong, and Nani/Curbs sold the "new vision" to him, if we sell Ashton to another club, regardless of who it is, you will be right, and our dreams will fade and die...again. West Ham Till I Die!!!

Put it this way mate, I sincerely hope you're right and I'm wroong. I come across as a bit of a moaner on this site but I honestly care about the club and think it's not going right. Phippsy

Hey, your heart is clearly claret & blue, Phippsy but at times like this, which I grant you are neither crystal clear nor brilliant, I draw comfort from our great club pedigree. I mainly shudder when we have drawn & nurtured WH supporting (?)players for them to jack over us, which neither you nor I could do. Shame that we don't have the ability to play (and I'm past kicking a ball anyway..!). Meanwhile, our example of support MIGHT one day mentor the next young Sir Trev who'll not only support WH, but be talented and want to stay with us for all his productive career. That way we must stick with being proper supporters and anticipate the day when we won't cringe when rumours like ' Deano (a childhood Manc supporter) is sought by the sperms'. COYI...
