Will Curbs Be Able To Handle Bellamy & Dyer?

Submitted by Themanfromdelmonte on 5 July, 2008 - 09:14.
These two firebrands were out injured most of last season so the scenario of seeing how they would react if left out or asked to play out of position never arose. We all know about their baggage..chiefly how they disrespected Sir Bobby Robson and caused unrest on and off the pitch. We also know that Curbs isn't the greatest man manager around, holds grudges and simply ignores players he sidelines ( ask Camara, Mascherano, Konchesky & Yossi) and doesn't even bother to shake the hands of players he substitutes. The debate is, can Curbs get the best out of Bellamy & Dyer's talent and will they be a positive influence in the team?

Proberly wont have to worry about that one Delmonte, they would have to get through the pre season games uninjured first!

Bill you've obviously missed the new WestHamFannos.org law that has been passed. Please do not be familiar with a fellow poster, do not praise their post and do your utmost to get them to be wanting to reach into their computer to drag you out of it. Oh well that's me on a one month ban for mentioning your name, C Ya!!

I think if he handled Bellamy them it would be more than a golf club he have to worry about. Dyer? Well he might enjoy it.

Will they get on the pitch to play out of position might be a better starting point! If they do, they should be up for it unless they hate playing football. I would return with fire in my belly after a year on the sidelines!

My point is that sometimes you need to play ugly eg 5 in midfield with one up front and for tactical reasons they may have to be left out, despite having fire in their bellies. My worry is if you look at their history. they're egoist and out for personal glory and may not accept being sacrificed for the sake of team tactics.

I think both fit 4-5-1 perfectly. They enable you to springboard from 4-5-1 to 4-3-3. They should be hungry is my point, and I think they will be, IF fit! And so should Ashton!

Yeah possibly, fingers crossed you're right, but I think in a 4-5-1 line up we would have Ashton up front and in midfield , Ethers, Noble, Mullins, Parker & Faubert.

Yer can't play Ashton up front and mid-field (not in the same game anyhow) he lumbers would have no pace to link up and would be knackered inside 30 minutes, he's a poacher, stealth and awareness are his main attributes

Who is calling for Ashton in midfield? We play 4-5-1 with Ashton up front but dropping deep to release the runners beyond him - the runners being Bellyache, Dyer, Faubert and Noble in my book, with Parker anchoring. 4-5-1 becomes 4-3-3 with Bellyache to the left of Deano and Dyer to the right.

It was an ironic view of the grammar meant to be taken with a little humour “we would have Ashton up front and in midfield” head and whoosh
