Having drunk the 'troubled West Ham' well dry, the media have consolidated their stance now on unsettling Hammers star Declan Rice by inventing claims that escalate on a daily basis from the outlandish, to straight out and out porkies, generated by mischievous writers who have had their collective noses put out of joint by the steady progress made by David Moyes's 'Boys of 21".

Firstly, before we get to the contentious issue as to whether the lack of fans at the incredibly ill-suited and unpopular London Stadium, has helped Hammers reach the lofty heights of a what is currently a genuine top four place in the Barclays Premier League, we have to mention that West Ham have accrued 21 points so far this season away from home, which included six victories!

There's sour grapes, and then there are grapes that having been left too long become hallucinogenic, these must be the fruit being consumed by some Tottenham fans websites following their defeat at the hands of David Moyes's West Ham team last Sunday, a defaet that put them NINTH in the Barclays Premier League table, as opposed to West Ham in FOURTH position.

Chris Sutton, never known for being backwards when it to comes to being forward, is rather impressed with the way David Moyes and his West Ham team have set about their business this season. Having finally woken up to the fact that those 'Cock'er'ney' upstarts can actually play good football and beat their supposed 'superiors', the Press have resorted back to their old "who is the latest bidder for Declan Rice?" chesnut, only the price has doubled now.

Firstly, there have been absolutely NO offers for Rice from ANYONE, secondly he doesn't look like a young man who is overly influenced by 'bling', of course he knows his value has rocketed, he would be pretty dumb if he didn't, but he has plenty of time and a whole career ahead of him.

Hammers 'stealth attack' for one of the coveted Champions League spots has had some unforeseen consequences, for example it is extremely unusual at this time of the season for any of the West Ham fan sites, or media outlets, to be discussing upcoming fixtures with anything other than the fear of relegation as the main topic of discussion, but here is the list of the Irons remaining fixtures, the 'dirty dozen*' despite there being thirteen games remaining.

The understandable euphoria among fans that has accompanied Hammers rise up the Barclays Premier League table has many dreaming of the possibility of European football, and so they should. In this season of all strange seasons there is definitely a 'possibility' of reaching that much sought after next level.

Ghosts were laid to rest this lunchtime, unfortunately there might also have been an as yet unconfirmed, but unprecedented amount of calls to the London Ambulance service! West Ham United are GENUINELY in the top four of the Barclays Premier League, Hammers opponents in today's game, Tottenham are now in NINTH place, on 36 points, albeit with a game in hand.
