Just wondering who we should sell and who to keep

Submitted by alby foreverirons on Mon, 26/06/2023 - 04:46

For me there are some players that need to be sold to build up the kitty so I will just put it out there.
Johnson, I think he needs a change to a club that will play him at his best position.
Soucek, he was really good until Moyes started changing him to allow Rice to get forward more.
Coventry, used as a loan player and will never make it to the first team so I would try to use him in a deal with Bristol to get Scott.
Ings, was a stupid mistake buying him as he is never going to fit into a Moyes system and totally overpaid, get him off the wage bill.
Antonio, this one might piss some people off but even though his holdup play is good and he makes defenders work to cover him he has been falling over trying to get penalties a lot and has lost his goal scoring, been a passenger for the last eighteen months plus not getting any younger.
We should be able to get £30_£40 million for those players which would pay for at least one or two decent replacements but would like to know what everyone’s views are.

Johnson _ Good squad player
Slowczeck - No one would want him!
Coventry - agree
Ings - agree, he was a panic purchase
Antonio - another good squad player!

Coventry....I havnt seen enough,he's on loan to a lower division side & they're raving about him
Ants will go I reckon,he's been itching to for some time
Agree about the others, just wish we could get a striker that hits the ground running, how about the striker from Coventry?

Will never be a Premier League player while I have a hole in my arse. He's had plenty of opportunities and has not improved. That said, cover for Coufal is a must.
Rice, if he goes, could be good news for Soucek, time will tell.
Presumably Aguerd and Zouma will be the CB pairing and Oggie and Kehrer as back up or rotate as the case may be whilst Cressy is already on another year. Personally, I'm not a fan of Emerson.
Really can't suggest anything about the striker situation as we've had so many good ones destroyed by a manager incapable of playing to peoples strengths. I have no doubt, Ings, Scamacca and Ants could score plenty in a different format.
I'd be more inclined to a change of manager than players but that doesn'tlook like its going to happen so already pessimistic for the coming season. See how I feel at the end of the transfer window.

Can’t see anything happening until Steinten starts but it will be interesting to see how long it takes before him and Moyes fall out. I do believe that Moyes will be gone by November and Alonso will be the next manager as he and Steinten are supposed to be really close so I cann see most of the players I have named going if not all and younger players coming in that play more to Alonso’s style. That will put Moyes in a no win situation as Steinten would not be coming if he wasn’t garenteed that he was the main man, the first sign of which way it’s going to go will be who is brought in as Moyes’s no two. We wait and see.

I really believe this could be the best signing Sullivan has ever done, Steinten has a brilliant track record and if played right the main one to benefit from his appointment could be our own Mark Noble. Let’s face it nobody knows what his real job is but if he works with Steinten and knuckles down and learns how he works then if Steinten leaves we have a DOF for life.

Nobes could be the kingpin of this club, like hexwas as a player....I've never been so optimistic about the future of our club. All these other clubs fans ( you know the London ones!) Saying it's a 2 bob cup we won,we beat fiorentina who are no mugs in the Italian league,we are now big on the European stage,we have a stadium that fills 60 odd thousand every week,do citeh sell there's out every week? I do believe deep down that David Gold wanted the best for us,personally though I didn't like a lot of the BS that was floated around at the time. But hey ho onwards & upwards COYI

I would lose Johnson, Cresswell, Zouma, Downes, Coventry, Ings & Rice unfortunately. But we need to be active in this transfer market. Players should have been purchased before we got the Rice money so we don't get held to ransom.
