Red card overturned but the club gets fined for 'failing to control it's players?'

At a full house and where you cannot enter the field of play, and after the referee has made a bad mistake? So how did we 'fail to control our players?', should Bilic run on the pitch to calm them down? Did any of our players threaten the referee? Take emotion, caused by the referee on this occasion, out of the game and what will you be left with? A bunch of cheats diving around getting fellow professionals sent off and getting away with it, Danny Ings and co! Disgraceful charge from the FA and no substance to such a charge in my book, your thoughts???

Typical FA: they're forced, by incontrovertible video evidence, to overturn a bad refereeing mistake, so they think: "OK, now let's get them back for daring to make one of our boys look bad!"
Maybe they shouldn't have surrounded the ref, but it was out of shock not out of aggression, and it's not like they didn't have good reason to be aggrieved. But I'll take the 30K fine, IF they also give Ings a 3 game ban for play-acting.

I used to be a referee and its not easy, especially with all of the diving that goes on in the game nowadays. However, I have to say that the standard of refereeing this season in the Premier League is abysmal.Look at the sendings off that we have had in Europe and in the League. Tompkins for nothing, Adrian for next to nothing and Noble for a fair tackle. The FA have to back their referees to a point but surely we now need a fourth official with tv coverage to settle these disputes. Then there will be no need for players to argue with the ref.

I agree Jeff, refs have a VERY tough job. They need all the help they can get from technology AND more officials. I wondered on Saturday why Friend didn't even consult his linos on the 2 sending-offs. A sending off can SO change a game that surely it's worth spending a few seconds to make sure the best possible decision has been made?

Absolutely. Friend couldn't wait to flash that red card whereas if he had taken a few seconds to think about both of those situations, we would have finished with 11 against 11. Sendings off do ruin games, look at the Stoke game where they were down to 9 men inside 30 minutes.

If the FA are going to dish out fines for not controlling your players then there has to be consistency, you watch any game at Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge and you'll see a hell of a lot worse than West Ham at Anfield, Rooney constantly swears at officials and always gets away with it, can't have one rule for one and a different rule for everybody else

And when was the last time you saw 11 (ELEVEN) minutes of time added to a game that didn't have a major injury? I'm averse to calling any ref a cheat, but they seem programmed to do all they can to help the 'big sides.'

We should counter sue for the FA failing to provide a competent official. I understand the ruling body wanting to protect their staff otherwise no-one would want to do it, but you can't blame human beings for reacting like they did when such obvious errors are made. The only way I see they can come out with any integrity is to retospectively ban the GODDAM cheating. Clear dive by Ings, to con the ref, which he did, punishing the innocent party. Either blame the official for being too stupid not to see the dive or ban the player for being a cheating cnut.

I've watched the incident again, and without knowing what the players said it looks fairly benign. Most of the players aren't even speaking or are making sure the players who are talking to the ref don't go overboard. As others have said you see far worse at most Chelski games and they hardly ever get done for it. It will probably depend what Friend puts in his report: if he was sworn at badly we will probably lose the hearing. But if not we stand a good chance of just getting a ticking off.

Agree the FA are going over the top over surrounding the ref' but a referee has about five seconds to make a call on the incident. I watched the game live on TV and I wasn't 100% sure that the tackle was legal until I saw the replay. I very rarely blame referees and I know it might slow it down a bit but TMO might not be a bad idea in the future, with each team being allowed two calls in each half.
