west ham and the nigerian

Henry Onyekuru i am sure you have all seen the reports and rumours and how we could get him for £7million but guess what the goalposts have moved and it appears to clubs outside of Belgium its £9million still not a lot in prem league terms but when you also find out he may fail to gain a work permit i have to ask would the money not be better spent nearer home...yes you all know the player i like and £9million would get him easy and wages like Antonio started with of £35grand will be perfect for us....the championship easily equals the belgian league IMO so why not take a risk here than overseas on a player where the transfer issue changes daily it seems.....

Do we get him for £7M? No. £7.5M -- triggering the escape clause? No. Apparently only valid in Belgium. £9M Maybe, but he might not get a work permit. Does he get a work permit? Won't know for several weeks, months ... And this deal for Onyekuru is, after all, a punt, even at £9M. When Pickford is worth £30M, these "little" deals cannot be anything more than a gamble. And if Assombalonga is also a gamble (I assume that's who you mean in place of Onyekuru), at least there's one hurdle (the work permit) we wouldn't have to jump. But surely West Ham could afford to pursue BOTH, no???

I would rather us take a gamble on Assombalonga and try a cheeky bid for Tammy Abraham

i agree. if we're going for the 'gamble' then look into the champs for someone who has been doing well there. its a step up but its not a change in style or overall league. didnt we learn from Zaza? especially as a striker its such a gamble on someone from belgium being able to adjust and i keep thinking that if we're looking for a squad player or someone who will be given time to adjust then maybe its worth looking at belgium etc but we are in the usual position of needing someone to slot straight into the team and score goals. we never learn. look at zaza, straight in and needing to score for us….he couldn't manage it. these guys need time so if we need someone here and now, we need to buy accordingly and pay the price for such a player.

those letters alone could pay for carrolls medical bills next season and have change for another striker

I'm surprised Sullivan has bought him just for the extra revenue of the letter. After all he does want a big name striker and assombalonga is one of the biggest.

These boys on here will take a huge sigh of relief. Or will they? Now Everton have had a bid accepted, will they want him? Let's see what they think now. After all Everton are the benchmark for good signings. My prediction of they're crap when we want them and world beaters when somebody else does might be right. But I do rate myself too much so maybe not.....

Sorry Betty I didn't see a debate In you baiting. My apologises. Can you please tell me all the rules on here? So far I have heard you complain about me putting too many post up (saturating) people commenting on rumours, ( not allowed altho it's pre season) and now I have to debate your dig. Where can I click on these rules please? Of course this doesn't even include you artistic interruptation on what REALLY has been has.

Apparently they will loan him out immediately to Anderlecht -- they consider him "one for the future".

this type of deal should be banned. just allows the big clubs to buy up every promising player.

How are Everton able to throw around money like they do in the transfer window every season and yet not achieve anything? They are a big club to an extent but no bigger than us

Dicks is the man's picture

i think the term 'big' club has changed. its not about fan base or history or even stadium anymore….its simply about how much money you have. The players mind set has changed, they want to move to the money, they couldn't care less about the club's history etc. so i guess with everton's new found riches, they have become a bigger club than us as financially i can't see us being able to compete. although it staggers me to think someone of koeman's ability is actually interested in rooney.

the deal with lukaku has been done and they are spending that money before it becomes public knowledge and prices increase.....but with all this spending the pressure increases as you will be expected to do even better this time round...
