Bilic Signs Three Year Deal!

Slaven Bilic has signed a three year deal to become West Ham United's 15th manager, replacing the unpopular but efficient Sam Allardyce. Bilic will have to get up to speed quickly, with player acquisitions and the impending Europa League matches foremost on his mind.
46 year old Bilic played 55 times for Hammers between 1996 and 1997, scoring two goals, before spending three years at Everton. He managed Croatia for six years, beating England twice in the Euro 2008 qualifiers, and has been in charge at Lokomotiv Moscow and Besiktas. He is an intelligent man, a qualified lawyer, and a man used to working in a pressurised environment, however his appointment still represents a risk by Davids Sullivan and Gold.
Apparently part of the new manager's brief is to bring more youth team players through the ranks, his ability to work with young players was very much on display while he was managing Croatia, but the Barclay's Premier League will be a tough place to try and blend the balance of experience and youth.
Hammer's player recruitment will probably go into over drive following Bilic's appointment, and his Croat connection may well prove to be very fruitful.
People in football often say be careful what you wish for, well why not be happy with what you have just got? -Ed

Just another thought on this subject. I liked Da Costa, I thought it was good business getting rid of Savio and getting him in return. Interesting to note that Bilic didnt rate him at Moscow and loaned him out... ? Maybe not good enough for Slaven?

Cant wait for the new season and really really hope to hear "Slaven Bilic Claret and blue army, Slaven Bilic Claret and blue army, Slaven Bilic Claret and blue army, ..."

Even Iain Dowie just came out with that dopey and tired old line again. Wishing shouldn't be cautious, it should be exciting and forward looking; just like, I hope, our new manager!

Really looking forward to this season now, good manager in place with a good footballing pedigree in both playing and managing, likes to play flowing attacking football and can actually bring in some players that want to play for him. (apparently) DEJAN LOVREN, GOKHAN TORE, DEMBA BA. Would be nice.

SuGo got it right. Its like your best mate who is not very handsome goes to the nightclub and tries chatting up the best looking girls in the place, gets knocked back by 4 or 5 but still manages to cop off with a stunner. SuGo did this by talking to the best around and managed to get a top manager that is light years ahead of Allardyce. As for all the great pundits (Shearer, Murphy etc etc) that said "who do West Ham think they are" well let me tell you... We are a top 20 World Club moving to a new stadium with fantastic support, supportive board that refers to "Fans" and not "Customers", money to bring in new players, a magnet for top youth who want to join a club that will give them a chance to play in the Prem, a great history, a song, a badge and fantastic colours... move over Spudz, Chavski, Arse we are coming through!!!!

Exciting times ahead for sure. Lets hope he's been eyeing up and chatting to a few decent players while the decision has been pending, eh. #COYI

Not my top choice, or the boards either, but will back Bilic and the team all the way.

A very passionate character who will get the fans on side. I hope his lack of experience in the Prem or funds to spend doesn't hamper his first season.

Hoping he has a Koeman impact rather than a Ramos!

His win percentage is better than Allardyce's. He's got European experience. He's got a brain. He likes to play flowing football. And he wants his team to play with heart and cohesion. So glad the dinosaur of football, the arrogant Allardici is gone. Nothing could be worse than the second half of last season. Please give Bilic some time and support. Already the signs are positive. We'll lose a few matches for sure, but we may see once again the sort of football that got us to an FA Cup final almost ten years ago now.

Sorry Keys ,but your way off track regarding Bilic, the guy is a class above Allardyce .Its amazing how many journo/pundits Allardyce arse lickers there are, who know %$£$-all about Westham .They all seem to have selective memories, failing to recognise Westham were in relegation form following Christmas playing some of the worst football.

Allardyce is the past (in more ways than one), Bilic is the future. He has a lot to prove, but I for one believe he will succeed. Many people in the media are very cautious, very backward looking, and few have anything thoughtful or original to say... unlike us! :-))

Bilic is a refreshing signing after probably the worse second half of the season for the Hammers. The signing of Obiang matches that of Kouyate from last season. Cabaya will be a great signing if it does materialise along with Loic Remy. Would have been great to get Charlie Austin from QPR, however it seems like Newcastle are set to snap him up. Not much time left before our first round game in the European Cup. When we lift this trophy it will certainly Champions Cup next season as this is a new stipulation. LOL. Thanks BFS for all your efforts except the latter part of this season. Thanks even more for not accepting a new contract.

better be!!! Do you think he will stay??

I think that he will try to keep his spot and may make the squad, probably in the substitutes bench. Won't be a bad option to switch to the long "hoof" ball in the dying minutes with him and Carroll on and a goal is desperately needed. I in a way feel sorry for him as he gave his best which only seem to be good enough for BFS.

He is 33 next week, which isn't ancient, the trouble is he was never quick, and has now lost half a yard on what he was. But he is a very intelligent footballer, and does work very hard, and of course has that poacher's instinct. But he is making noises that it's time for him to move on, so I expect him to leave in the window. Think he'll have to take a pay cut, but plenty of Championship sides could use his wealth of experience and leadership qualities.
