The Morning After The Night Before!

Hammers Jekyll & Hyde performance against Tottingham last night left fans frustrated and then elated against a team that should have been 3-0 up at half time but for the heroics of the Irons defence and more than a small amount of luck combined with a complete lack of aptitude from the home side.

Many are of the opinion that David Moyes' stirring half time speech was not actually conducted by the manager who had been locked in the toilet and was in fact delivered by the newly arrived from Ajax cheroot toking John Heitinga! "Listen boys, forget all about Moyesball and go on and express yourselves" Well it seemed to have worked as Hammers suddenly became a team full of International players actually trying to play forwards instead of sideways or backwards!

The three unexpected points helped compensate for the loss of two points in the home game against Palace, which leaves Fulham next in Hammers trio of Local Derbys. There is no point in winning at White Hart Lane and then go losing at the Cottage, but it is the West Ham way, so expect nothing more than a resounding loss!

With that potential banana skin in mind, four points out of a very tricky nine is not to be sniffed at, it is the equivalent to more than three draws! All in all the balancing act of playing in Europe and competing on three domestic fronts appears to be going averagely well, but how long may it continue?

Hammers are due to lose at least TWO incredibly important players during AFCON and results WILL dip during their absence, hopefully the 'Dutchman' will continue to influence the outcomes, just as his pal Tim Steidten has influenced the club's recruitment!

If Hammers can get anything out of Sunday's game it will be a big result and show that the team are developing a level of consistency that is needed to compete at the highest level. - Ed

Nev, as brilliant as the result was against Spurs. I can't take these woeful performances. God knows how many times my Pacemaker stalled in the first half.
Can't Moyes see our 2nd half performance is the way forward.

Is the simple answer....expect the whole team have been hauled over the coals for daring to cross the halfway line and even worse make forward passes.....Mogadon will of been cracking the whip for sure "SIDE SIDE BACK AGAIN TO THE SIDE AND BACK" were the cries at training and they were made to stay out in the rain until they learnt Moyesball is the only way

The score in the first half was only kept down. Because the Spuds had no idea when to make runs once camped on the edge of our area. With Bassouma running the game.

I don't know what was said at half time or who said what. But something changed. Which shows it is possible to play forward thinking football. Thats so frustrating, when we put up with mediocracy week in week out!!!

Pre Moyes, battling relegation was better to watch than some of this "winning" football being served up today. Even Grant and Glen Roeders football was better to watch and that's saying something. I'd say Pards was the last manager here who had any inkling of what the fans wanted. Shame about THAT Cup Final.

I see a LOT of good points. Just wish the manager would put those points to good use

there seems to be two strong opiniated camps on the Moyes saga from what i am seeing in the social media and some pretty strong acidic comments from both sides. We have an old school of thinking thatb this is as good as it gets for West Ham and we should be grateful for the small mercies, however, the classic creative possession football loving folk are finding Moyesball tedious and difficult to watch.

Personally, Im probably still on the fence, i wouldnt loose much sleep if he was fired but I am enjoying some of the results. I think we are "successful" with Moyes but apart of me thinks we are success despite him!

I would like to think he could change, take guidance from others, play the creative players and give them freedom to be expressive. But... This will never happen, he is set in old ways, the pressure not to lose is greater than the need to entertain. The anti West Ham media will be quick to say "be careful what you wish for West Ham".

I often said in the past when we were perennial relegation fodder, I would just like midtable mediocrity and a cup run, well... in fairness The Moyesasaurus gives us just that!

There you have it,Dartford the Mediator, the Scales of Justice, weighing up the pros and cons, the jury have made their decision.....And that is.....We are better off and acheiving more than we have in years, against silcky football and battling relegation and acheiving only that,or what we have now. This reminds me of the time with Allardyce,i accepted what we had with him,but many didnt. It might not be pretty, but Moyes is pulling it off when needed, more than any of the others did.

I'm probably in the camp of Moyes but only just. I said for years I would like mid table mediocrity and the odd cup run and in fairness to Moyes that is what he delivers.

Sometimes a bit of "realism" is required. Yes we are "massive" , in the top 20 of clubs globally but, like it or not, we are still only the forth biggest club in our own city. So, maybe Moyes and what he brings is our ambition but a part of me says why cant we be the next Leicester City (Prem winners not Chumps league) or has Aston Vanilla already taken that mantle?
