No Top 6-No Fair VAR!

Unless your club happens to be one of the Premier League's 'top six' elite, you have to be prepared for all sorts of injustices during the course of the season in the hope that "things will even themselves out' by the time the last game is played.

Well, as it stands teams will have to play for a month of Sundays before fans witness anything like a level playing field when it comes to match officials, particularly VAR. Loathed and despised by ALL, VAR has taken fan frustration to a new level!

If anyone had ANY doubt about the deep rooted Hatred of VAR, they just needed to see the disappointed masses exiting the London Stadium in the rain this afternoon. The looks on their faces were a mixture of rage and incredulity at what they had just experienced.

The team's 1st half performance was woeful to put it mildly, but inspired a quick fire David Moyes substitution the ground was soon rocking as 'Pacman' clawed a goal back off of Hammers 2-0 deficit almost instantaneously. Moyes actually made a proactive managerial move!

On came Alvarez and Mikey Antonio in place of a disturbingly off the boil JWP and the fish out of water that is Kalvin Phillips, straight away the team looked different and as it meant business. The crowd were duly rewarded with a Pacman goal that then inspired the 'siege of Burnley's time wasters'!

Burnley tried EVERY trick in the 'Brentford book of time consumption' and a few new ones of their own. Although a rampant Hammers attack left the defence exposed 'Phonse' made spectaculer saves that have almost become the norm for him, the 'big teams' will be sniffing around for him sooner or later.

This game should have ended as a 4-2 win to the Irons, instead it nearly ended in defeat courtesy of some mind-numbing and baffling decisions by the match officials. Record match of the day just to confirm whether 60,000 or so people, or at least those who stayed could have got their opinions so collectively wrong!

It is now THREE games in a row where Hammers have been robbed or mugged, call it what you will, of at least two points in extra time. The much maligned Danny Ings scored one but could have had a hat trick during his fleeting cameo role of 8 minutes of normal time in what was NOT a normal end of game!

"We were robbed" fans sang, but just like their dreams their protests will just fade and die! - LN

About being robbed till the cows come home. Fact of the matter is Burnley haven't scored two first half goals all season. Now THERE'S a cold hard fact we should be looking at. Not sure if Moyes had half an eye on the Freiburg game coming up or whether he ( and the players) thought Burnley would be a stroll in the park. Either way it should never have happened.

As you say deluded they have not scored two goals in a half until yesterday......eye on Freiburg game? why Liverpool are in the comp alongside AC Milan etc so who does he think he can kid as to winning that as he has no belief against bigger clubs but on yesterdays showing same goes for smaller clubs.

I am 100% certain Moyes detested the Brentford result and having to play on the front foot to get it and the proof is in the negative way he has approached the following games....he got very lucky at Everton not so in the next two games.
It takes time he tells you to build a team to compete for the top spots really? look at Vila going nowhere and battling it out for top four Moyes in charge when Villa were in the championship....Spuds a complete mess and yet inside a year they are playing front foot football that has risk but the rewards are there to be got and meanwhile we are stuck in the mud only now and then when that clowns neck on the block do we free ourselves to show our true potential....
Var this Var that who cares it is just excuses for the mans limited ability and until he is gone all that will happen is the best players will leave for clubs with ambition and the Academy may as well be mothballed as he does not give a toss about any of them.

Well, I was AWOL yesterday as documented. So cant really comment, as I never streamed the game. I did however check my phone once and genuinely got a massive shock. 0-2 in the 1st half, WTF?

I genuinely thought we'd roll them over at home especially. Now then Moyes gives Ings 8 minutes and he produces. What does he do with him now. Ever since I saw him up close and personal at Sheff Utd, I have a new found respect for the man. Who is a popular figure with the away fans on the road.

Ings has still got it. Moyes has never had it. Moyes is a dead man walking.

As for VAR - scrap it. Produces more vitriol and angst. Than the discussions down the pub used to create. Load of bollocks if you ask me!!

Oi big boy, what's your name?

I think Phillips has played his last game for West Ham. A complete disaster. I agree with Deluded and Bike. Think Moyes had one eye on Thursday night. But Moyes has a dilemma. Moyes wont attack the Germans for fear of conceding. Personally I'd go 3-5-2 & hit the Germans with everything. Antonio on the left. Kudus on the right. Bowen & Ings up top. Plenty of crosses and Soucek making a nuisance of himself in their box. But it will not happen. We need a rapid start like against Brentford.
As for VAR we have really suffered agsinst the bottom clubs. 4 points dropped against Sheff Utd & Burnley due to the incompetence of the Officials and VAR. That coukd be our place in Europe next season.

Not sure VAR can be blamed when you drop 4 points against the 2 bottom clubs in the division, who have amassed 24 points between them and have a combined goal diff of -85!! It would be funny if it happened to any other club but when it's yours it's just embarrassing.

How poor are we that we need to rely on VAR to beat the bottom two clubs in the league. If we started the first half like we came out in the second Burnley would have been buried after 15 minutes. I agree with Enfield, throw the kitchen sink at the Germans, and if we lose at least we go down fighting. I can’t sit thru another 90 minutes of sideways football.

VAR again at Villa...! Should never in a million years take 5mins to get to a decision. When you look back before VAR, deliberate handball goals were a normal part of the game. This is what VAR should eradicating. Spending 5mins suggests it's too close to call so stick with the decision that it's a goal. This is where VAR are ruining the game, analyzing everything to the nth degree to come up with a decision.
