Noble-You Can't Believe Everything You See And Hear

"You can't believe everything you see and hear can you?" sang Lou Reed on his 'Last Great American Whale' song from his 1988 New York album, he continued "My mother said she saw him in Chinatown, but you can't always trust your mother".

Hammers fans are used to disinformation, although the same can be said for most football supporters.

Usually a convenient 'mouth piece' is used to deliver a club's missive, especially when the proverbial has hit the fan, so when Irons legend Mark Noble inferred that David Moyes is one of the main reasons he is returning to the club as director of football scepticism was bound to appear with the truth being much like stories surrounding the Whale in Reed's scathing observation of the American way, especially New York's.

Mark Noble was a loyal servant to the club as man and boy, frequently rejecting the opportunity to move to other clubs although some would say he was a big fish in a small pond during his tenure with West Ham and didn't want to test what could have been troubled waters elsewhere. Irrespective of his motivation Noble deserved all the accolades he received ahead of his retirement and more!

Unfortunately 'Marky' looks as if he is walking into a PR ambush as the club look to pacify it's supporters ahead of what might be a very ugly 2nd half of this season's Premier League.

Words can easily be manipulated and misconstrued if their is mischief in the air. Mark Noble is a wealthy man as a result of some canny property investments during the course of his career and as such has no need to cow tow to the Board, but we are of the opinion that his undoubted love of the club might just be his undoing!

It is abundantly clear that the Board see 'Nobs' as an ideal buffer between them and the club's fans, all the talk of Director of Football is probably smoke and mirrors! There is a distinct possibility that the retired midfielder might find himself as caretaker manager in the not too distant future as opposed to being Director of football, of course he doesn't need the money, but he IS liable to the emotional blackmail that his tenure with the club could invoke.

Hopefully Mark Noble will NOT be put in that position, but you can't Betway against it can you? - Ed

In the slightest,Nobes as caretaker manager! But give him the post permanently? I hope not,cos the grief he got from some fans towards the end of his career was bad enough,I'd prefer him to be remembered in a good way

It's a weird one. Certainly too early in Nobes post West Ham playing career to be anywhere near managing. Has he even done his badges??

I fully expect Moyes to be gone soon and results to force that issue. But for what and who is next. I couldn't make any assumptions. Except for Mark Warburtons Toastie to stick his bun in the oven and put his brown caretakers coat on...

Oi big boy, what's your name?

I remember Sir Trev taking the helm on a temporary basis,he did well aswell although we still got relegated, but he would never of taken it on permanant,he is West Ham same as Nobes,it wouldnt be appropriate for them.

to Nobes I don't doubt he is being honest and I gather he does have a good relationship with David Moyes, I also believe it was Moyes himself who wanted Nobes back in some form as not only because he bleeds Claret and Blue but he has the respect of so many involved with the club from the youth set ups to the senior side. It will be Noble who will be tasked with convincing young talent to stay and work hard and hopefully emulate him. I pay little heed to "Ex" and the main stream media who just seem to throw any random garbage out there. I see our current situation as a blip and maybe having players in contention for WC places focused minds on a winter in Qatar rather than progress in the EPL, I am confident the summer signings will gel and we will very soon be again on the up.

I can’t see a happy outcome the way this season is going. Moyes big spending in the summer transfer window with little payback, is a repeat of the big spending Pelegrini era. Moyes has been quoted as saying,’a manager stands or falls by his signings, ’ well unless there is a massive turnaround in results and performances it’s only a matter of time before those words will come back to haunt him.. I can’t see Noble wanting to take on that load of stress, the thought of managing this struggling team is bad enough but the thought of relegation would be a living nightmare. It’s just too big a jump, from playing to managing a premiership club even on a temporary basis. He has no experience in management, but coaching is another story, think he would rise to the challenge

The whole things a shame,i quite like Moyes, but we cannot score, and alot of the build up play is all over the place,i feel Rice is the only one that steadies it,so it was Moyes that brought these players in,if he cant get them gelling together,it will be the undoing of him,and think it probably will,if Rice goes in the near future,i cant see this team keeping us up without him.

Always 1 up top,but they get no service at all,our crossing from corners etc is abysmal.Gonna be a relegation dogfight for the rest of the season imo

Moyes could start by NOT getting Bowen to take corners, he should be in or around the box for knock downs and deflections.....using him to take corners is like what 'Woy' did when he had Kane taking corners for England.

I agree Nev,he would be better making a nuisance of himself in the box,as his corners are at times useless, all this near post crap is a waste.
