Update, Is It Valencia Or His Agency Ungeklärt Talking ?

Enner Valencia has hit the headlines recently because of his 'displeasure' at not being offered a second opinion regarding whether or not he should have surgery to speed up his recovery from injury. However, the 'quotes' don't come directly from the player himself but via his agency, Ungeklärt. The only 'quote' was from Ecuadorian radio station La Deportiva's gossip section which 'quoted' “West Ham seem to have forgotten that I’m injured, but they don’t let me speak to another doctor. I don’t understand why West Ham doctors are doing this to me. The truth is that West Ham have not been supporting me. I have tried to ask an external doctor but the doctor of West Ham doesn’t want me to ask another doctor. It’s my health we are talking about here. “I have been injured for a month and I still don’t know what the name of my injury is.” We have used the term 'quote' repeatedly because the player does not actually say the words himself, rather he was supposed to have told a reporter in an interview set up by, you guessed it Ungeklärt !
To those who are unaware, Ungeklärt is a huge agency that represents Eden Hazard, YaYa Toure and Ross Barkley among others, more importantly it also represents West Ham's Cheik Kouyate and Diafro Sakho!
The rumours circulating around last January had Enner Valencia possibly making a £24 Million move to Chelsea, this couldn't have had anything to do with Ungeklärt's links to Chelsea could it? Football agents and their companies fees operate with similar pernicious charges as Bailiffs, as and when they can get away with it. If a player gets brought or sold there is a fee, if that player then gets loaned out there is another fee, and so on and so forth. It would therefore be in the interest of any agent or agency to ensure their client doesn't remain a 'happy camper' for too long, because if a player doesn't move the agent has to get their reward by getting their player's wages or terms improved, the problem with that avenue is that wages and terms are usually already maxed out by the time the players has initially signed. Very few are good enough to have a much latitude when it comes to improving their game spectacularly enough to warrant improved deals.
The Valencia injury issue has got more then a little smoke and mirrors about it, interestingly Hammers manager Slaven Billic has dealt with Ungeklärt on a regular basis and will be wary of their claims and representations - Ed

Enner has just delivered this statement to the O/S
Enner Valencia said: “I have had a number of consultation meetings with specialists in London, accompanied by members of the Club’s medical staff, and they have always kept me updated me on my injury.
“It has been a frustrating time, but I would like to make clear that I have the utmost respect and confidence in the Club’s medical team and the specialists I was referred to and I would like to apologise to them and the Club for any issues arising from the recent press coverage. “I will continue to work as hard as I can with them to return to help the team as quickly as possible, and continue the good start I made to the season.“It is not possible to put an exact date on when I might be back on the pitch, but you can be rest assured that I am motivated to get fit and score more goals for West Ham United as soon as I can.”
Well, it may not clear it up completely, but it does show how easy it is for 'interviews' to be hijacked, and how inadvisable it is for players to do interviews that are unauthorised by their employers. Perhaps the club media director could look at better protection for it's expensively assembled stars? - Ed

I wouldn't be at all surprised. When I heard the remarks my first thought was that it didn't sound like Valencia.

To me this looks like the club have written the statement of apology and he has had to publicly disclaim his original or agency statement. Whatever the truth, the club's PR etc could do with a makeover. There are too many things happening at once, we look a shambles. Still no signings which were supposed to come by the middle of the week. Nottingham Forest have rejected our offer for their winger, Song has gone back to Barcelona so any deal is hanging, striker rumours abound but no-one has been signed. I know we have less money that a lot of the clubs but aren't we a bit slow? Stone the crows!
